I lived in New Orleans for eight years. This song was a daily, if not hourly, play. This is the first rendition I have heard that made it unique. And to be clear, its hard to add to perfection.
check out jesse stewarts cover as well!
It really is hard, but they managed it! Very well done!
Born n raised, still my fav version I eva heard
Personally this is one of the worst songs I have heard. Especially such a classic
❤❤❤❤❤❤
oh i love EVERYTHING about this! such a gorgeous, talented singer, amazing instrumental work...my god y'all are amazing 😍 the klezmer vibe after the band kicks in is incredible!
this is unbelievably awesome! Super talented.
good stuff!!!! And she is freaking gorgeous!!!
Well...I'm in love now
Those vocals!
she could sing to me a diagnosis of terminal cancer and I would still think it sounded beautiful.
venereal disease is actually in this songs history/origin...
I looked up "fisting music" and this came up!
😂😂💀
this was incredible!!
Chicks got pipes
WOW!
Is this not the most beautiful sound

Haha, same 😎

you guys know what happened to that lineup ? it was much better...
I'd kill to see this band play at a show, with Amigo, Dead South, Goddamn Gallows, and Devil Makes Three.
I'd sell what's left of my soul, for this show. I swear.
You are not alone my friend come get it devilman haha
Gonna save this comment somewhere to check out the other bands
They're on tour with dayz n dayz. I'm seeing the Baltimore show.
They were just at a festival in Vegas with Amigo. Don't worry, I also missed it XD
Ya add Railyard Ghosts too.
Lead singer is so stupidly talented. And that face! She’s so emotive and enchanting to watch. I love her facial expressions. She can tell a story with one look
So sad that she turned borderline anorexic later...
What instrument is she playing?
@@Hauntedasylum666looks like a banjolee?
Oh interesting. I've never heard of it before. But that seems accurate. Thanks!@@Olivertwiztd
@@toniheikkila5607 you did not just comment on her body like you have anything to say on that. It's so uncalled for. Leave people tf alone
Devil Makes Three brought me here. Not disappoint!
Shawn Moran Same! Two awesome bands!
@@bogomilstoynov8405 tell me about it guys, never heard anything like this over in Aus

The Goddamn gallows brought me here. All three are great bands
I could make a conspiracy theorist yarn connected pictures chart to see what brought me here 2 years ago...the final pic in the middle would be Days n Daze the best band in the world
Well, I went down to St. James' Infirmary and I saw my baby there,
She was laid out on that long white table, so sweet, so cold, so fair.
Well, I went up to see the doctor, "She's feeling very low" he said,
Well, I went back to see my baby, and good god, she was lying there dead.
So let her go, let her go, God bless her soul.
Wherever she may be.
She may search this whole wide world over,
And never find a motherfucker like me.
Well, I went down to Old Joe's Ballroom,
On the corner down by the square.
They were serving drinks as usual,
And all the usual folks were there.
Well, to my left stood Old Joe McKennedy,
His eyes were bloodshot red.
And he turned to the crowd in front of him,
And these were the very words that he said.
He said, "Let her go, let her go, God bless her soul
Wherever she may be.
She may search this whole wide world over,
And never find a motherfucker like me."
So when I die won't you bury me,
In my high-top Stetson hat.
Put a twenty-dollar gold piece on my watch chain,
So the devil knows I died standing pat.
Six gamblers to carry my coffin,
With chorus girls to sing me a song.
Put a jazz band on the horse wagon,
To raise Hell as we roll along.
So bring out the rubber tied carridge,
Go ahead and bring out the pony and drive.
Twelve men going down to that graveyard,
Only eleven of them ever coming back.
So let her go, let her go, God bless her soul,
Wherever she may be.
She may search this whole wide world over,
And never find a motherfucker like me.
So now, they've heard my story,
Well, let's buy another round of booze.
And if anyone ever should ask you,
I got the St. James' Infirmary blues.

Its like Amy Winhouse got possessed by the devil and sat in a pub while Drop Kick Murphy played some tunes . Giving birth to this. I like it

I’m 42 and dancing round the kitchen!
That was dope as fuck
Sad or funny. Both
This is made even more awesome by the fact that it looks like they got Daryl Dixon to play the bass.
Sam porter
No, Daryl Dixon.
I don't know how they did it. But they definitely did.
🤣
That clarinet has a marvelous klezmer sound! I love it! Punk, old blues/jazz, klezmer and old-timey all blended in a most delightful way!
Yes!
Love an electric clarinet solo
honestly, the clarinet makes this song what it is.
I was literally saying this same thing!
My English teacher is her mom! We traded band we liked, I told her to listen to Tyler Cassidy
Too ill
Check out dnd
Also sierra ferrell❤
Your English teacher did real, real good
Surprised your english teacher isnt your music teacher. Sheesh
How is this not all over every "vocal coach reacts" video?

Man, Norman Reedus is killin it on bass

HAHA
Yes!!!!❤
found my new favorite band :) ms libby is quite hypnotizing. her voice is so unique
You should see em live! Been to a few but the best was at a hometown show in a small pub in Portland. The whole place was jumpin!!
My dad did a cover of this many many years ago. It would be playing on the TV all the time when I was a kid. The other day I showed my nephew and showed him I could play it, my mom heard about it and got upset she doesnt like me bringing him up I usually gotta keep it on the down low. This really made me miss my dad.
I’m sorry you feel like you can’t bring your dad up. 🥺 I hope you find people and places in your life where your memory sharing is welcomed.
May his memory and presence always be a blessing. 🕯️
After rereading your comment, I was assuming he had passed on. But maybe he’s just not present in your life, but still on the planet somewhere. Either way my sentiment is the same.😅💕
Starts out bluesy and ends up sounding kinda like Jewish folk music, with a definite edge. I think I like it.
How can you not!?!
*folk punk
@@yourlocalpunkposer8107 idk if i could call this punk though, especially when compared to something like days n daze, this is more like murderfolk or southern gothic/americana
bluesklezmer folk punk might just be my gender lol
It's an OLD jazz song - 1930s?. It was a folk song that became a jazz song - and a guy named Irv Mills (who was Jewish) had publishing rights/writing credits, so the song has come full circle in 100 years. I like "Klezmer" type music and I like jazz, so this is pretty cool.
If you took away visuals and "the look" of the band, you'd be hearing elements of dixieland swing jazz played on what has been popularized as "bluegrass" instruments. It sounds right out of the south but this music was Cotton Club & The Savoy before that and probably in the roadhouses before that. IF you didn't see them, would you still be so enamored of this music? I'm asking myself that same question! I know this song and I think it is great that it is reaching a new audience, so I'd say I still like it.
The thing i love about this song is that you can listen to 15 artists perform this song and they'll all have slightly different lyrics that tell just slightly different stories. It's wonderful
If Tom Waits and Amy Winehouse had a baby
Seriously! The best way to describe it! I'm pretty picky about female vocalists. I like her!
Hahaha! Spot on
Not at all.....
Phil Kin
how original.
First time hearing them, I love it!
I did my best with the lyrics. Lip reading helped where possible:
Well I went down to St. James Infirmary
And I saw my baby there
She was laid out on that long, white table
So sweet, so cold, so fair
Well I went up to see the doctor
“she’s feeling very low” he said
Well I went back to see my baby
And good God, she was lying there dead
So let her go, let her go, God bless her soul
Wherever she may be
She may search this whole wide world over
And never find a motherfucker like me!
Well I went down to Old Joe’s Barroom
On the corner down by the square
They were serving drinks as usual
And all the usual folks were there
Well to my left stood old Joe McKenzie
His eyes a bloodshot red
And he turned to the crowd in front of him
And these were the very words that he said
He said “Let her go, let her go
God bless her soul
Wherever she may be
She may search this whole wide world over
And never find a motherfucker like me!”
So when I die would you bury me
In my high top Stetson hat
Put a $20 gold piece on my watch chain
So the devil knows I died standing pat
Six gamblers to carry my coffin
With chorus girls to sing me a song
Put a jazz band on the hearse wagon
To raise hell as we roll on!
So bring out the rubber tied carriage
Go head and bring out the pony and track
Twelve men going down to the graveyard
Only eleven of ‘em ever coming back
So let her go, let her go, God bless her soul
Wherever she may be
She may search this whole wide world over
And never find a motherfucker like me!
So now that you’ve heard my story
Well let’s buy another round of booze
And if anyone should ever ask you
I got the St James Infirmary blues
I know the lyrics. But she just plain nails it.
This is a blue standard. She may embellish the lyrics here and there, but 95% of them are accurate to the first result you would find on Google. You put a lot of effort for very little gain.
Docile Bint tbh I know the original lyrics but it was important to me to know what she was saying and enough people were asking here that I figured I’d post it. Auditory processing disorders ain’t easy so I figured I’d help out. The effort feels proportional to the gain for me
Gracias

this is so damn good
You should listen to the original From King Oliver
Hey I like a lot of this music! I used to play guitar in a metal style but now I am learning on a banjolele sort of like Libby's but I cannot get the hang of using a pick in this way. Then I tried plectrums on three fingers ( kind of strange in this setting I know) without success. I am sold on claw hammer! That is a lot of fun and it makes me want a bluegrass banjo. My point to any musicians out there is that you should try a broad range of techniques even if you are comfortable where you are.
Libby’s so hot! With the voice of a fallen angel!
chicks gotta helluva voice
I need lyrics! My hearing is terrible, for I have a hard time trying to understand everything she's singing but I just Absolutely adore her voice and I love them! 😍💘

This song gives me goosebumps. So glad I found this band!

Who doesnt love an electric clarinet solo?
I was shocked i could actually like a clarinet !
Now _that's_ a Foggy Mountain Breakdown.
Scruggs roll for life , I need to pick up my five string banjjjjjjj after fifteen years
Mad respect for playing with those long nails
Reminds me of gorgo bordello
YAHS!
I listened to them after finding them accidentally while looking for a different version of song of the sirens. I haven't stopped listening to them since this afternoon. Adding as many as I could my playlist. This has to be my personal favorite. But of course I love the original cartoon Betty boop cab Calloway original. This just takes it to another level.
they remind me of one of my favorite bands from my youth. Squirrel nut zippers from the '90s. If they had a very very naughty side. This song specifically reminds me of Blue Angel, Katherine Whalen's voice is one of a goddess. Just like her here....
AMAZING cover.
Everyone involved is so so talented.
Love you Libby! Cant wait for the new album to drop and to do the radio interview this weekend. Sooo lookin forward to the next hometown show in Portland!
I cannot even believe I just heard you guys for the first time today. My god they are good!!
She has a super loud voice! I bet she could shatter glasses around her if she yelled
man she lost a lot of weight over the years
fr i literally thought it was a different lead singer til i saw the lock tattoo
I honestly never thought I'd say this, but they're like the Asylum Street Spankers, but better.
Thank you only listened to a couple but beer and if you want me to love you made me laugh,,never heard of them before
I could replay this song all day and never get tired of it.
Please marry me
Ух какая полненькая была ранее, сейчас конечно не так. И как же лучше :) Главное, чтобы ей было ок. а поет она и сейчас и ранее, более, чем ок.
All you people trying to compare this band to another, they sound like this or that. They sound like Bridge city Sinners. And you love it.
