I'd kill to see this band play at a show, with Amigo, Dead South, Goddamn Gallows, and Devil Makes Three. I'd sell what's left of my soul, for this show. I swear.
I lived in New Orleans for eight years. This song was a daily, if not hourly, play. This is the first rendition I have heard that made it unique. And to be clear, its hard to add to perfection.
Lead singer is so stupidly talented. And that face! She’s so emotive and enchanting to watch. I love her facial expressions. She can tell a story with one look
I could make a conspiracy theorist yarn connected pictures chart to see what brought me here 2 years ago...the final pic in the middle would be Days n Daze the best band in the world
My dad did a cover of this many many years ago. It would be playing on the TV all the time when I was a kid. The other day I showed my nephew and showed him I could play it, my mom heard about it and got upset she doesnt like me bringing him up I usually gotta keep it on the down low. This really made me miss my dad.
I’m sorry you feel like you can’t bring your dad up. 🥺 I hope you find people and places in your life where your memory sharing is welcomed. May his memory and presence always be a blessing. 🕯️
After rereading your comment, I was assuming he had passed on. But maybe he’s just not present in your life, but still on the planet somewhere. Either way my sentiment is the same.😅💕
The thing i love about this song is that you can listen to 15 artists perform this song and they'll all have slightly different lyrics that tell just slightly different stories. It's wonderful
@@yourlocalpunkposer8107 idk if i could call this punk though, especially when compared to something like days n daze, this is more like murderfolk or southern gothic/americana
It's an OLD jazz song - 1930s?. It was a folk song that became a jazz song - and a guy named Irv Mills (who was Jewish) had publishing rights/writing credits, so the song has come full circle in 100 years. I like "Klezmer" type music and I like jazz, so this is pretty cool. If you took away visuals and "the look" of the band, you'd be hearing elements of dixieland swing jazz played on what has been popularized as "bluegrass" instruments. It sounds right out of the south but this music was Cotton Club & The Savoy before that and probably in the roadhouses before that. IF you didn't see them, would you still be so enamored of this music? I'm asking myself that same question! I know this song and I think it is great that it is reaching a new audience, so I'd say I still like it.
Friggin love this band. This period of this band. Libby Lux is an amazing vocalist and has such a sincerity to her music. I wish they'd have held on to this sound over the years.
I listened to them after finding them accidentally while looking for a different version of song of the sirens. I haven't stopped listening to them since this afternoon. Adding as many as I could my playlist. This has to be my personal favorite. But of course I love the original cartoon Betty boop cab Calloway original. This just takes it to another level. they remind me of one of my favorite bands from my youth. Squirrel nut zippers from the '90s. If they had a very very naughty side. This song specifically reminds me of Blue Angel, Katherine Whalen's voice is one of a goddess. Just like her here.... AMAZING cover. Everyone involved is so so talented.
So thankful for people that don't follow the crowd and play the same old crap that is considered to be acceptable music, I mean there's some good music out there but love this style of music it fuels my soul, loved it, if you ever come to Springfield Missouri I'll be there, please don't ever quit the world needs it
I need lyrics! My hearing is terrible, for I have a hard time trying to understand everything she's singing but I just Absolutely adore her voice and I love them! 😍💘
This brought me to tears within the first few seconds. You have so much passion in this video. Thank you for sharing this! I hope you're still doing what you love!
Hey I like a lot of this music! I used to play guitar in a metal style but now I am learning on a banjolele sort of like Libby's but I cannot get the hang of using a pick in this way. Then I tried plectrums on three fingers ( kind of strange in this setting I know) without success. I am sold on claw hammer! That is a lot of fun and it makes me want a bluegrass banjo. My point to any musicians out there is that you should try a broad range of techniques even if you are comfortable where you are.

Twelve men going down to that graveyard, Only eleven of them ever coming back. So let her go, let her go, God bless her soul, Wherever she may be.
