You are right! One of the best - but THW VERY BEST versiion ist the one with a hammond organ instead of the pianoforte, and a flute instead of the saxophone. Believe me.
I have been going back, and forth between versions of this amazing song and I was trying to figure out which version is the best..... I think I have a winner. This was amazing
Random, same here for years, listening to both, making comparisons, and maybe this one gets it. But for years I listened to the guitar solo on the other version and was amazed by how inspired it is.
Könnte man meinen...
That is an incredible version. It just shows that it doesn't need to be similar to the one of Hugh Laurie or whoever. I love both versions! It's the soul they put into the performance!
It's a wonderful Version, to be sure. But the BEST VERSION EVER by Joe Cocker is the one with a hammond organ instead of the piano: ruclips.net/video/ICtvvIj-xyA/видео.html This is THE blues… Close your eyes and stop doing anything else… Listen, how he sings "her" in "Let her go, let her go! - God bless her …" so weak of depression.... And the soli of the other Instruments (I'm talking like his voice is an Instrument, i just realize…. but it kind of is ...), especially the flute which goes double-voice at some point, but the others, too …. Gorgeous! So musical …. Uncomparable!

Van Morrison version simply classy & elegant as hell. Joe Cocker's, dirty & gutsy as hell Both God damn great versions. I hope Louie Armstrong would agree.
there are many version recorded by many different artist, all ok in their own way, but cockers version is the only version that is from the heart and soul. He sings as if it was him who lived it. This is why this version will be the only version which will be remembered forever. With all that said however, I have come across a piano version who has the same exact soul and feel. Check out on you tube, Henri Hebert, "Pianoman Soothes Busy Train Station". He is a concert pianist, If only we could have gotten him and Joe together on this, OMG!!!
The one and only version! I'll do a RUclips demo of his cd album on my Dynaudio's C2 Speakers soon, have'nt got this album on vinyl regretably, anybody?
Great voice but he completely cut out a giant chunk of the song An' give me six crap shooting pall bearers, Let a chorus girl sing me a song. Put a red hot jazz band at the top of my head So we can raise Hallelujah as we go along. Folks, now that you have heard my story, Say, boy, hand me over another shot of that booze; If anyone should ask you, Tell 'em I've got those St. James Infirmary blues
One of the best versions I’ve ever heard. Gritty, raw, and awesome!
That's how I feel about she came in through the bathroom window too.
You are right! One of the best - but THW VERY BEST versiion ist the one with a hammond organ instead of the pianoforte, and a flute instead of the saxophone.
Believe me.
Some people can sing. A few people have a voice for the ages. Thanks to God for Joe Cocker and the gift he shared with the world.
❤❤am3n, it just doesnt get any bettter than Joe.!,,
Cocker's version is my favorite. We'll miss you Joe.
This is a great version. Remember it from my youth. Fun to hear it again. Love Van Morrisons but this is bluesier.

In ALL the years I've been listening to this fantastic performer, I have never heard this!!! A great take on this blues song. I agree with zuzak4341
Simply the best... Joe was one of my best singers...
I have been going back, and forth between versions of this amazing song and I was trying to figure out which version is the best..... I think I have a winner. This was amazing

I haven't.
Or the doors, they mix it with summertime and light my fire

Könnte man meinen...

I love this version of "St James Infirmary".Miss this essential singer so badly.
Cant belive hes never been inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame.
That is an incredible version. It just shows that it doesn't need to be similar to the one of Hugh Laurie or whoever. I love both versions! It's the soul they put into the performance!

Saint James Infirmary! A quintessência do blues!
By far the best version
Of him performing it, that's for sure. Since then, and 50 years later, I discovered the original.
Hello Gail how are you doing hopefully you are doing good??
This is amazing brilliant .
Wow. It brings tears to my eyes... Dat is da blues. Thanks for uploading.
There is definitely no other version better than this one.
bruno venturino coughs* cab calloway caughs*
ridiculous, listen to Louis Armstrong...better, listen to Zephyr...much better
@@Circuit7Active R I G H T ! this version is not one of the best
If I may be so bold as to contradict you but I like Hugh Laurie's version better

Van Morrison version simply classy & elegant as hell.
Joe Cocker's, dirty & gutsy as hell
Both God damn great versions. I hope Louie Armstrong would agree.
Lorenzo Pasquarella check out cab calloway's 1930 version. there's (I feel ) a kind of insanity in cab's vocals that's unique.
@@georgeb.wolffsohn30 Cab's got the vote, no doubt.
For a stripped-down, intimate version, it has to be Dave van Ronk-----One man, one voice, one guitar, much feeling.
I'll have to check out Dave van Ronk's version. There's so many great covers of this timeless classic!
Stupenda !!!! Bravo Maurizio !!!
Cetti Cetti
Grazie mille Sicily's sun ;-)
it can not be better than this ,, ever.

No other version gets near this one by Joe
Superb

Fenomenalna Kokerova verzija!
Wish this was on iTunes
Marvellous. Martin Schmdit-Hahn with his warm clarinet would fit as well !!
Respekt, Maurizio Farina!
Blues da Joe, travolgente

I bought this album when it came out. Still have it
Cocker Power
Damn! where did everybody go???
Very nice version! Strange to find different and sometimes unlogical sequence of verses.
Anyone hear the similiarities in "Shine on..."?
Bobby Blue Bland does a nice rendition.
Bobby did the best
Two Steps From the Blues
Genial
I like this version and Lou Rawls versions the best
❤
🌬🎶🎵🎵🎶💞
I like Eric Burdon's version off the album "Every One of Us"
no way
The two best versions
Who's playing what? Leon Russell on piano, I think..... Bobby Keys on sax....but who is on guitar? Fantastic whoever it is!
+Nigel's Inspirations Neil Hubbard on gtr, Chris Stainton on keys and Jim Horn on sax... bloody brilliant!!
Chris used to be with “ Spooky Tooth”

Who was the guitarist and sax player?
Nill Hubard guitar for sure. Live La 1974

Why the fuck isn't this in iTunes
because it's good
For me Cab Calloway's version from Max Fleischer's cartoon of Snow-white and the seven dwarfs is the best, at least considering the vocal part.
👍
cab calloway made the best version.
Cab Calloway is the best version
Komisch, auf diesem Foto siehst Du Kaya ähnlich.
Put it close to Armstrong's version.
Yeah I love this version but Louie's horn solo makes me melt
just love it much better than bobby blands
I can’t believe he’s English. Just goes to show…….
The funny thing is that this song is not really a blues song...
Nice version, but i still like louis armstrong version.A song that always make my eyes wet...
Great vocals but the band is yer typical bash & crash rockers.
Nobody even got close to the original.
lol this sounds like Shine On You Crazy Diamond and that guitarist is copping Gilmour licks like nobody's business
This was recorded before the Wish you were Here album, and the song was written long before either Cocker or Pink Floyd were on the scene
The guitarist is named Neil Hubbard...
That's the pentatonic scale for you, buddy
lol
Great voice but he completely cut out a giant chunk of the song
An' give me six crap shooting pall bearers,
Let a chorus girl sing me a song.
Put a red hot jazz band at the top of my head
