- St. James Infirmary - Cosimo and the Hot Coals (Louis Armstrong Cover)
Live acoustic session from Villa Bossi, Varese, Italy.
Lyrics:
I went down to St. James Infirmary
Saw my baby there
She was stretched out on a long white table
So cold, so sweet, so fair
Let her go, let her go!
God bless her wherever she may be
She can look this wide world over
But she'll never find a sweet man like me
When I die bury me in straight lace shoes
I want a box-back coat and a Stetson hat
Put a twenty dollar gold piece on my watch chain
So the boys will know that I died standin' pat

I found you guys on tiktok and the first thing I checked after Minnie the Moocher was St James and I love it ❤️
Vous allez la sortir sur les plateformes
They cut out most of the lyrics, but the trumpet and the arrangement are so good, you hardly miss them.
Love this song and love this rendition. My only quibble? This lovely set piece isn't optimally lit. This "cave" is crying for some stylish, darker, dramatic lighting and shadows
You would be perfect to play at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California ❤

I thought “St James Infirmary” was a Cab Calloway song.
It is, but Louis Armstrong also did it on the “jelly roll” album, this one is the Louis Armstrong version!
I’m not sure 🤔…. The rhythm is good but you need the band to make it happen… one should not be a king around your beautiful musicians ❤
Not bad at all. One should not wear brown shoes with a blue suit, and certainly not black socks. Also you should pay the clarinettist a bit more,
Nice arrangement. Very good vocalist. But, this is blues folks, down, dirty, mean. NOLA doesn’t always transpose
