    • @feliciapate7926

      Mine did back in the mid 90's. What they didn't teach was how to do anything like thread the needle, load the bobbin, or do anything with the machine besides actually -sew-. (The home-ec teacher did all that.) And how to hit your knuckles with the needle-holding screw as it went up and down at a billion miles an hour * ouch! *

    • @feliciapate7926
      @feliciapate7926 8 лет назад +1

      -sew- = - sew - . I forget that RUclips actually crosses out or bolds things if you use the traditional signs like that but mean them in a way that singles out what you're saying.

      Just neglect those stereotype people (macho) who think sewing is girly thing. Just because you are using a sewing machine making things and learning new skills doesn't make you less of a man. It's all about skills, not gender. NOBODY should be ashamed of learning and developing new skills, men and women alike!

      Been sewing by hand for years (amazingly practical skill). After 15 years, it's time to step up my game. Sewing on sleeves and hoods takes a long time by hand.
      But, she's a pretty good teacher none the less.

      Can any guys give me tips on where/what/how to start teaching my 11 yr olds to sew in a way that will be interesting and fun for them? I know this skill will serve them well in life and want them to like it rather than just be one more chore they HAVE to do. TIA

    Like Alton Davenport's comments, I'm another solo dad. Your sowing video is perfect for learning how to sow and I have the same model you're using here. Just purchased today and I've made my first stitches. Thank you Crafty Amy. My goal is to have my two young daughters enthusiastic about making their own clothes or modifying clothes they bought for themselves. It's a great little family project. Thank you!

    I love this. Great job friend. I sewed my first item in junior high. A skirt. I loved it. I was the only person in my 8th grade Home Ecs class that wore what she made. I had to though because we were dirt poor and that was one of the only things I had to wear. It was amazing to me. I didn't sew another thing until I was in my 20's. I volunteered to sew my son's own costume in a Christmas play. The church seamstress fell ill and I was voluntold to sew 12 costumes in two weeks. 4 angel costumes and 3 wise men costumes, and the rest were inn keeper, inn keepers wife, and town folks. I loved it. I never felt so good about anything. It worked beautifully. I haven't sewn since though. I sold my machine because I didn't have time or money for fabric and such. Now I do and really want to get back into sewing again. I feel so peaceful and calm when I sew. I put on my Gospel music and just sit there and see a roll of fabric turn into something beautiful. I'm so excited. I think my Husband in going to gift me a sewing machine and a space to sew of my very own. He keeps hinting around to it. LOL Praying he does. I really like the second machine you showed on this tutorial. I may look into that. P.S. I forgot. My Dad was a Seamster. He sewed amazing things. He was a natural. I loved to watch him sew. Memories. Sweet memories.
