Thanks for this! had never thought of using the blood hunter class, I needed something that included lycanthropy in the progression so that it wasn't over or under powered.

You know I recently made a lycanthrope class actually.
I think you might like it.

D&D beyond is a great tool, the baseline you can use critical roles blood hunter and go from there, however make sure it's okay with your DM. There is a werewolf like barbarian in game but that requires you buy the book or find other unsavory means to getting that content (borrow from a friend of course... )

@@thedruidicbjorn5431 I'm new so lycanthropy is just a disease so how can your character become one if you're trying to start off as one?
Sorry one more question I'm a shifter but I want to have lycanthropy on top of that is that possible?

@@Aesirfollower2020 I'd stick with my original recommendation of blood hunter - the blood hunter has an order at Level 3 that you gain the ability to control the beast within sort of deal and become a hybrid. You can ask your DM and work out a story that you were born w/ lycanthropy (which in most lore is incurable outside of a god doing so) so it could be a story of you finding control finally and peace; maybe hurt someone close to yourself and you took this route to redeem yourself and to turn it into something tolerable. That is again if your DM allows Blood hunters.

Where can u find the source material for this because I had a dm that wouldn’t let me be a werewolf he said it’s not race but a curse?

This isnt official content and it is a product of Matthew Mercer - it is on dnd beyond and you would need your DM to be cool with using it. He is correct about it being a curse and not a race - there is two main ways of contracting lycanthropy; born with as in you cannot get rid of it unless you are cured by a god and the other is being attacked which can be cured. This is a very old video, but I believe there is barbarian who uses werewolf like abilities called "path of the beast" now in Tasha's cauldron of everything which is a pretty fun sub class
