- Honda P0747 is an annoying code but 9 times out of 10 it's a bad linear solenoid. In this video I show you how to clean the linear solenoid before running out and buying a new one, try to fix what's brokwn before spending money on a new one.

Gonna give this a try on my 03 mdx thanks for the upload, got some hard shifting in transitioning between Reverse, neutral, and drive and the occasional hard shift while driving got 300,000 miles so wasn't not expecting a problem haha. Good to see I didn't have to touch the transmission mount.
you could spray cleaner as you turn on and off the solenoids.
You should clean the surrounding before removing solenoid packs, you have some dirty in the transmission now.
The brown one is valve B and black one is valve A. I know because I bought the oem part for my Acura TL ha ha great video.
Where would Valve “C” be? I got a code for valve C
I just got a po741 torque converter clutch solenoid stuck off on my 2006 Honda pilot 4WD the other day. And the code I’m getting pertains to one of the 4 solenoids in the accumulator body. Which is under the linear one on the side of the trans
Nice video.
I have a 2007 Accord with same v6 engine. I recently started having slightly delayed and harsh 1-2 shifting especially when engine is cold. It gets better when warmed up, but not best. I also noticed delayed 2-1 shifting. When slowing down, it tends to remain in 2 till I give it gas to move off, then it comes to 1. But absolutely no slipping.
Oil is good level and not burnt, no much shavings the last time it was changed.
I cleaned the solenoid, but it wasn't much dirty. Should I just change it? I don't want this harsh shifting to damage more things.
Thanks
If the selenoid isn't dirty, then it probably just means your auto transmission is in the first stages of going out. Have to remember, they are no more than internet plates with 'teeth' that eventually grind down and wear out over time. Best you can probably do at this time is try some lucas transmission fix and hope it hides the problem for a few k miles. Else, just drive the car until the tranny finally gives out and rebuild it or sell the car for scrap.
My car is having the same issues did you ever find out what was happening and how to fix it?
You guys probably need to change the transmission pressure switches. There are two, a third gear and a fourth gear. Very simple job.
Update: so I've been having transmission issues for a year now. It was so frustrating to the point I nearly trashed the car. Several oil changes, tranny rebuild, tranny replacement, yet problem seemed to be getting worse with each effort at solving it. Ultimately, car will only engage 1st gear and will not make any effort to shift.
Eventually, it was discovered that all the while, my problem was the ECU. Somehow, water from tha AC found its into the ECU and messed with it. Mysteriously only the transmission was manifesting. Every other thing in the car, including the engine ran fine.
I'm just glad I didn't trash the car.
@@lastof4brothers that's weird..but glad you got it fixed...
Is this across all the generations of The J-series? Asking because I saw the automatic transmission filter was only for 2003-2006.
I would use an air gun and blow that whole area out before removing the unit so that all that dirt and crap doesn't fall down into those openings. Once they're into the openings, the next stop is your transmission.
Not really, a little dirt gets in is not the end of the world, but yes that is a god idea to blow it off with air before removing it.
Just picked up a 06 pilot saying the solenoid B is stuck. I changed the fluid 2 times first only got 2 QT's out though dipstick 2nd drain and fill about 3. The fluid that came out was nasty brown and smelled burnt. Transmission shifts okay ill give this a shot before I order any parts probably that screen.
So, just because the pistons move doesn't mean they are any good first of all. Next, don't buy an Amazon knock-off unless you want to do the job twice. Finally, why not buy a rebuilt oem Honda? It comes with a new gasket and o-rings!😊
Where do you get one that's rebuilt?
What kind of movement are you looking for when testing? I tested mine, one of em goes back and forth, in and out, the other one rotates and has no translation motion.
You'll see a little piston looking thing move
Did you ever find out how much movement it needs to be ? Having the prob but no one says how much in and out. I’m testing now and get about 3/16” movements
@@javiroo1743 they should both click up and down, magnitude of movement i’m not sure but i just replaced mine with another one and it works for now. didn’t solve my tranny problems though.
I have the 2014 accord with the v6 thats having troubles shifting in 1st 2nd and reverse. If i replace the solenoid here, will it fix my issue
What is the metal “puck” looking thing above those solenoids?
Mine has symptoms, but no code. Any suggestions?
Did you resolve the issue?
Mine moved but seemed like one moved more than the other.
I'm having an issue with a 2005 accord v6. I just changed the pressure switches and fluid, but the car still has a delay going from park to reverse and drive.
Other wise the car shifts amazing. Is it the solenoid ?
Update?
My p0747 that I took to get a reading says it’s the pressure control solenoid… I changed this and still same results
trying to diagnose this now ill come back if i have an update
@@ExcaliburTTP do you have an update
@@Raeeban didn’t work swapped trans to used one- didn’t work scrapping the car lol
These TLs are not worth the time unless you manual swap that auto trans is dog 💩
What is the actual name of the steel pins I need two of them but I don’t know the actual name for them lol . Great video btw.
Thanks"👍
Hey bud. There is a gasket for this solenoid. Do you recommend to buy it from honda and installed it? Thanks for the video
If it’s not ripped or torn you can use the old one
How about if mine is gushing oil out of this are only at higher speeds ?
Update?
DAMN GOOD
My code is P0780
Research suggests it's the transmission solenoid
Your video helped alot seeing it removed other videos show it after removal with similar cleaning process
Thank you
Hi. Is the company “Rostra Precision Controls” a quality aftermarket parts company? Also, if replacing the solenoid, better to go with a USED oem Honda part, or NEW Rostra part? Does it even matter? Thank you very much.
How’d it go with rostra
Have a new to me 2005 Accord V6. Hard shift from 1st to 2nd if you accelerate rapidly from a dead stop. Found your video and decided to check the linear solenoid. Apparently someone had it off in the past and forgot to put the long pipe/tube back in. (Part # 22743-PW4-000) It was missing. Three small tubes looked clean but I flushed brake cleaner through them anyway. The solenoids both worked fine when tested as you demonstrated. Could the missing tube be responsible for the hard shift? Does it help control fluid pressure in the linear solenoid or is the fact that it's missing no big deal?
I don't think they control line pressure, they have little screens so they are tiny tiny filters. Most likely, your solenoid is bad.
@@bundysgarage Installed the 8x40mm pipe (the one without the screens) and it seems to have resolved the shifting issue. At least, I haven't been able to replicate it. No idea what that long tube does, but having it installed helped.
@@Fiat-Domine that's really weird that it was missing...what the Heck
Soooo the filters you see how you have 3 and a big 1 !
I only have 1 screen filters and the rest and all through??
How far is the pistons soposed to move?
Are the strainers the same size?
I bought a used odyssey and the middle tube has no strainer, or it was lost. What would happen without the strainer? Getting P0747 solenoid A stuck on code, is this the correct one to even be looking at?
it has a filter, but it is inside of the transmission -- requires disassembly
Would I have issues or premature transmission failure due to purchasing one of the cheap $60 solenoid replacments online?
Hard to say. Did you buy it on eBay? Lots of counterfeit parts floating around on eBay. Ever since the beginning of time there have been scammers and there still are in 2022.
How many solenoids can be cleaned on those 2004 Honda Pilot?
Thanks
A lot of them
Hey, Mr. Bundy, I don't see the info for the Honda/Acura salvage yards. I'd like to check that out. Where are they?

@@bundysgarage I need your help because it seem as you've done alot of work on the j series engine/car. I'm having a no crank when I turn the key. Starter is good, battery is good. There is no fire in the small wire(signal wire) that run to the starter when you turn the key....NEED HELP.....
Is this the same thing for a 2014 Honda accord jseries?
bro doesnt know
The twe of them are the same
THANX 🫡👍
How much HP does this add?

Dealer guy said around 69+ HP to the wheels if you clean it , but don’t quote me on that one
the replies are funny af😂
I checked salenoidi they were clean I cleaned them again I changed the oil but still when accelerating from c4 to 5th gear beats transmission what to do can the transmission is already dead ?
Did you test them out of the car and actually see the plunger move back and forth?
