- Today we'll be going through the steps on how to test and replace an Automatic Transmission Clutch Pressure Solenoid Valve; also known as the A/T Clutch Pressure Linear Valve. This valve controls the flow of transmission fluid via the PCM or Power Control Module.
Common issues with a bad valve include delayed shifts, no downshifts and erratic shifting. Here are the trouble codes:
P0746: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A stuck OFF
P0747: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A stuck ON
P0776: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve B stuck OFF
P0777: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve B stuck ON
P0962: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A open/short
P0963: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A
P0966: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve B open/short
P0967: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve B
P0970: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C open/short
P0971: A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C

Wow, shop told me I needed a new transmission rebuild (Aamco) and said it would be from $3,700 to $4,500. Pulled off this part and one valve wasn't actuating. Got this part from junkyard for $27 and fixed! Thank you sooooo much!
Curious what your driving? 😁
What was your transmission doing? My transmission just went into limp mode. Rpm goes up but the car doesn't go nowhere.

@@GrahamMasters87 I took it to the transmission shop and got my transmission rebuilt. I didn't look into it before taking it I didn't have the time.
I pulled off this solenoid cleaned and tested it.. I did not know about the screen in the transmission..... now I am going to pull it off again and check that screen , thanks for being detailed about that. Other videos , we're good , but not this good. Thank you.

Thank you! Experiencing delayed shifting. The screen was not that dirty so I plan to change the in line filter and hope for the best.... I also removed the double solenoid on top of the transmission but that one did not have much sludge in the screens ether. So I am a bit concerned!
Did you get through
My 04 has 130,000mi and the speeds in drive for the most part shift smoothly but sometimes bump shifts slightly but delays shifting from park into drive about 1 second and goes reverse goes right in. Any suggestions? I recently bought it and I'm doing the fluid change. Great video 👍
Nice video.
Wooooow, this video just saved me more than $2,000. My son’s 2005 honda accord had a code P0746, and The mechanic said I had to rebuild the transmission. 😅

Hi im having a reading of 05.8 ohms is that good or bad? It is for the same part as you are testing. Any advice is appreciated.
I have a po0752 Honda Accord I tested it and it seems to be working fine but could it be bad or something else triggering that code
Would code p0970 be for this as well?
I have an 07 acura tl. Its showing codes p0962 p0966 and p0970. Which means all 3 are open/short. Ive tested all three they test a 5.8 ohms and when hooked to a battery they work fine. Does this mean I have a wiring problem
whats the average repair costs? I have a good deal going on, but the car has a TRANSMISSION ISSUES P0746, I don't know if I should risk it!

Hi friend. First test of my solenoid show 6.7ohms , good or bad?
Do I need to remove the transmission oil to remove the solenoid?
Hi, i have Civic ex-l 4d 2013. Before i change the transmission oil the transmission acting a bit erratic. No code noted. After transmission oil change, On drive gear it will roll around 4-6mph then acting like sudden engine break and car stop. But if gear to 2 or 3rd it doesn't do that. Still no code. Do you have ideas what's wrong?
Is this for the 3.5L engine?
Hi was this an Audi TT if yes were was the solenoid located
Hi thanks for video. Do you live in New York City?
Wat is the sintoms wen that part os broke?
Do I need to drain the transmission fluid before I remove the solenoid?
Is this the same location on a 2020 Nissan pathfinder ?
My Malibu won't go backwards and don't go fast forward codes po700 and po776 do I need a new transmission
Hey Man I love your channel. Helping me out big time. Question- my 2k ohm multimeter reads .006 on the same solenoid. Is that 6 ohms because it’s 2k reading? What was your multimeter ohms set to? If u see this thanks for your time. Seriously
I believe that would be .6 the 2 k ohm range is just the maximum that range will read.
What if it works but when you plug it. Then turn the key on, engine off. It starts to buzz and make clicking noises.
please can you say what model of a car are you fixing?
Muchas gracias
Fue de mucha ayuda la información

Quick question, is there a part number for the screen ? I notice that mine doesn't have one which is weird. I'm having trouble with P0747
What car is it that your working on ?
Can I clean it with WD 40 Release Oil?
Would the solenoid be in the same location on a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta
Did you get this fixed? I just got the po776 code on my 2016 Volkswagen jetta tsi 1.8
Can this also be code p0741 ? I swapped out the smaller solenoid recommended with the black connector but still has this code ! The cars shifts fine to me no problems at all . Only thing is when I put into rever or drive gear takes about 1-2 seconds to engage! Please help 😊
Hey, any update on your issue? I'm having the exact same problem that you describe.
Is the pressure control solenoid also called the linear solenoid? I’m getting P0747 pressure control solenoid A stuck on for 2003 Honda Accord V6
Hey I’m also getting same code, did you fix yours?
Did you guys fix yours?
When doing the 12 volt test, does it matter the position if the wires?
Yes it does matter. Solenoid needs correct polarity to move in desired direction. How to know: for example, my Honda service manual shows connector zoomed in and marked PIN 1,2 picture. Then it explains which goes to battery positive and the other to battery negative. Then it hopefully clicks/moves like author shows here.
I'm going to do that test but I don't think it'd be that reliable if we do it while the solenoid is still on the tranny because we can't see how well the interior components move. I think it's much better to do it the way it is done in this video. It'll also give us an opportunity to inspect/clean the little screen or gasket area.
I have an acura TL 2004 with the same problem, I scanned the system and it tells me P0970
OBDII: pressure control solenoid (PC) C - low circuit
Acura: problem i A / T Clutch pressure control solenoid valve Circuit C.
I removed the transmission fluid filter and replaced the transmission fluid and filter
I removed the solenoid and tried it only by connecting 12v and the solenoid opens and closes, I cleaned it with a carburetor cleaner but the problem persists.
Could you help me solve this problem in my acura tl?
Should I replace the solenoid?
I live in the Dominican Republic and I would like you to write me some recommendations to solve this problem in my car
He's telling you EXACTLY what you need to do
Hi, can you show le where could be the A?.?
👏👏👏
Hi, is code P0741 also about that ?
Hello there, Greetings from Dubai,
Could you please tell me how did you cleaned the screen. With carburetor cleaner? What will remove the gunk?
Hi Asif. I used compressed air.
@@CarsNToys Thank you for your swift reply. I will use the same.
Great vid. But man am I trying hard to find a video for the same thing p0776 code on my 2015 accord coupe v6. Any suggestions op or chat?
Can you please tell me what make and year car your working on?
It looks like the 3rd generation Acura TL. I'm willing to bet on it.
Can the code po776 also be caused by transmission slipping
Hi, was an altima, what did u end up doing? Please let me know, thanks!
I just replaced this with a new part and still won't go pass 2nd gear and giving me the same code p0798.
What could be the problem???
Thanks great vid!
Did you figure out the problem? Im having a similar issue with my honda clutch c.
@@Panda-qv6ht did i figure it out 2 years later lol not letting me shift past 2nd also p0747
@@n54bry ..
lol 😅 trans needs rebuild... we all have same issue.. all these videos on youtube may only work for the 4 cylinder accord.. v6 3.0 needs tranny rebuild.. i changed these solenoids 3 times and still won't shift into 3rd gear.. 1,2,4 all work great, no 3rd gear.. fluid and filter change also.. internal issue with these.. there was bulletins from Honda on lots of these.. pulling my classic Toyota and Lexus out the garage and trashing these old hondas
Which car was this for ??
Can I perform this test without draining the transmission fluid?
Where is clutch pressure control solenoid A located in 06 TL? Thanks In advance
I need the same help
Ok
Very good and celar video.I just want to know if it is the Valve A cause i have P0746 in my honda Odyssey Thanks for answer
You nailed it. It's valve A stuck in the off position.
@@CarsNToys Where is the A & B valve hidden on the 2006 Odyssey?
my valve was stuck open and i drove it for 3 days will that brake my transmission
No.
Mine read 05.5
2005 Murano you know where position
Car model?
my acura TL has the same problem with this solenoid, I have performed a test with the multimeter and the recharge is 05.9 onm, could you tell me if this recharge is good or bad?
Edgard Israel Sabino Madrigal I did the test also and got same reading as you 0.59 ohm. Reinstall and same code appear p0730, p0740 and p0780.
Resistance 5.9 OHM ---- this is within spec, but doesn't guarantee that solenoid is good. Ultimate test is - does it move every time you apply battery power. If it does, it works correctly.
Where I can buy this clutch?…. For a 2013 Altima
I would like to know where to buy it for Altima 2013 too, I have same problem! Any news? Or part number
