Done. A little slice of God's own county in our green and pleasant land. The only thing missing is a good Yorkshire pub! Perhaps something like the Station Inn at Ribblesdale, Helwith Bridge Inn (which was once called "The Locomotive" and which I've frequented many at time whilst staying at the YSS caving hut next door). Or there are plenty of other examples in the area as I'm sure you're aware. Is your viaduct inspired by the one at Denthead? ruclips.net/video/ZDdgmCJx_5o/видео.html And your stations are a great depiction of the ones on the Settle to Carlisle line. I know you used Goathland for inspiration but the ones at Dent, Ribblehead and Horton-In-Ribblesdale, etc are in the same style too. ruclips.net/video/JXPNBBXm_qI/видео.html i.ytimg.com/vi/LcuIAkl8tng/hqdefault.jpg?sqp=-oaymwEZCPYBEIoBSFXyq4qpAwsIARUAAIhCGAFwAQ==&rs=AOn4CLAbw9d_p2_E5svL1J_KzVj6ssbVHg c8.alamy.com/comp/FEFKJB/ribblehead-north-yorkshire-uk-6th-february-2016-the-famous-flying-FEFKJB.jpg ruclips.net/video/o0NABwROSrE/видео.html Anyway keep up the great work.
Great layout. Thanks for sharing. When I was a child I was born and brought up in East London and could only dream of the wonders of open countryside. All the best.
I love how you include things like a black Sheep and potholes. The roadway (or track) is brilliant, even down to the grass growing in the centre as it would for real.
It continues to amaze me how starting from old newspaper a wonderful countryside and miniature world comes almost magically into existance. More than the sum of its parts for sure!
Lovely update. Whenever you post a video I am immediately transported to the countryside no matter where I am in the world. The tweeting birds, the lowing cattle and bleating sheep all compliment the melodic lull of the steam trains as the gently rattle past. Can't wait for the next episode. Great job 👍
I’ve always being awestruck just how much you can change the style of an ordinary looking row of cottages to such reality. Keep it up, essentially these ‘how to’ videos.....for us ordinary mortals! ....:-)
I know squat about model railways, but I have always thought them incredibly beautiful, fascinating, and intricate worlds and the work and art that goes into them is astounding. Your videos show that beautifully, Thank you for sharing your wonderful railway through your superbly crafted videos.
Mouldy Raspberry no worries. I’m Yorkshire born and bred, so naturally I’d love your landscape surrounding your complex and life like railway. But seriously amazing job! I’m looking forward to watching more of your content!
You really make me sick! You have more talent in your little finger than I have in the whole of my body. It is so relaxing just watching you work and running your layout must be a joy to you. I can only sit and wish. Heartiest congratulations. I am oh so envious.
Great job on the scenic overhaul, it turned out fantastic. I agree, you have that down to a science. The details you put into it made it really stand out. Right down to the little flowers in the boxes. Job well done. Thanks for sharing and stay safe. Ken
What I love about your layout is that the scenery isn’t centered around the trains, the trains are centered around the scenery. It makes a layout look more like a world than a model. Brilliant.
Very nice indeed. I was especially amused by the "Hand of God", creating the earth as the train passed by! I bet the passengers were surprised too! I liked your stone fences and your "treatment" of the plastic houses. Well done.
Wow, I’ll bet the people on that passenger train were surprised by that huge hand and paint brush working close by, not something you see every day when riding the afternoon special 😀 great layout and superb scenery........thanks for sharing.
Hello again Lewis. Again your superb skills are evident. The whole process is enjoyable to watch, and the final results are stunning. The whole lot blends together really well. The cottages look stunning. Give yourself a big pat on the back, as always another superb result. Chris.
Brilliant detailing again on the Yorkshire dales railway. Those cottages look fantastic. The whole scene looks so natural and like it's been there forever Great work cheers Andy
Wow! What an awesome layout. I've been thinking of doing a layout in the Yorkshire Dales for a while now and I love how you did yours. Your attention to detail is amazing. When we visit family in Yorkshire, we always go to the Dales. The scenery there is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Brilliant and truly inspirational. Music, lighting and video production also superb. To see it build like that had me glued to the screen. Makes me itch to get up in the loft, vac off the fine webs and get that reverse loop geometry back on track. You have got the scene and buildings set just perfectly within the space allocated and resisted any over crowding or the adding of anything for the sake of it, ie a waving passer by dressed in inappropriate attire or a slightly out of scale vehicle plonked somewhere silly. There’s a few steam locos, gleaming in all their glory, with sound, that I’d love to see run by with passenger carriages and the music. Beautiful
Thanks Andy, appreciate it. You’re right, it can be hard to resist the temptation to keep adding more for the sake of it at times, but I agree that it benefits from it! Thanks again 👍🏻
Such an uncrowded feel! One of the hard things to get right (as you have) is making it look like the land was there first and the railroad came later. So many layouts are unconvincing (to me anyway) because the scenery is only justified by the train. Things are so well blended here!
Simply stunning! I love the way you capture not only the landscape but, the atmosphere of the location. A hugely impressive scene with a totally believable railway line running through it. Thank you for sharing your layout and your talent. Always look forward to seeing your videos!
You have a great sense of landscaping, you know ? I really enjoy your minimalistic approach, and your great sense of details. Your lane is an invitation to take a walk on a real-life one. And the railway line crossing through is really well tought and made. A great work done here !
Waited all day long to watch this and as usual it was well worth the wait. All this in 14 mins and 13 sec while playing the piano 😃 Loved it, I can see myself walking up that road on a hot summers day and watching the train go bye. Look after yourself and thanks for sharing. Regards, Eric.
The scenery looked pretty good before and didn’t think you could really improve on it, then you pulled this out of your hat! It all looks fantastic. Some great scratchbuild work on them homes and the added details already like the beans look perfect. I can imagine a farm hand, sitting on the hill under a tree, eating an apple and watching the trains go by. Great work! Clint
Hi Lewis what a great improvement love the cottages they look stunning mate like watching a master when you were tittivating up the cottages with your brush it really bought them to life . Looking forward to the next running session well done mate, thanks for sharing looks fantastic SYD
Your chosen background music reflects the love with that you are creating this miniature paradise! It's wonderfull. Besides the railway I'd like to recommend to cover the rock- or glass wool below the railway on the floor, so you don't breath it. It's for your healty, that you have plenty years to build these lovely models. Regards from Germany.
Thanks for showing how its been done. This is a superb layout, the type that "pulls the viewer into the scene" and "live the moment" every second he/she is there. Hi Lewis. Excellent work on this scenic overhaul 👍. The road/track looks marvellous, a bit bumpy though! 😛 The houses at the front look great too, and I particularly like the slate roofed barn "over yonder"! Stay safe mate, GWR
Absolute fantastic work loving the dirt track very effective. I my layout ever ends up looking half as good as that, then I would consider a job well done.
Another incredible video, thank you, these are a great source of inspiration and ideas, and very relevant to what I would like to achieve, with a single line west Highland rail line based on the actual line between Glasgow and Fort William.

Very impressive Lewis. Just what’s needed after a 14hr shift at work! I must say if you said to me you could improve the dales layout I wouldn’t of believed you as it’s so good. Thank goodness I stand corrected! The layout really looks good now! The shots of you painting the plaster with the West Country passing by were nice, really made the hillsides stand out and added perspective with the train in the scene. I can't remember a bit on the layout that looked like it could be improved, but I have to say that this new section looks fantastic. As ever, I'm left wishing that I lived somewhere on that layout! Thanks for showing us all how it's done
Big improvement to the layout.Cottages and the relocation of some of the farm buildings alter the overall view.Nice weathering again of the tracks .The look has more balance to it ...nice to watch you doing it enjoyed the clip ....what next i wonder ???
