When I tried retail, I liked it much better. I have played classic SOD when released but soon tired of it. I have gone into past expansions to play the content on new characters. Don’t worry about gearing until you reach max level. Just use the highest ILVL gear that drops for you.
I don't know if you've got another channel, but if you don't, you're really good at speaking into a microphone, a skill a lot of people lack and/or take ages to learn. Keep it up, man! Subbed!

Great to see new people picking up the game, it’s has its flaws but it’s a great experience regardless, do you play on us servers ? Because if you ever want to give eu servers a try I’ll be glad to take you on a lore tour, the game doesn’t do a great job telling its story but it’s really worth knowing imo, keep up the good work
Excited to find this channel! I was wondering what new players would think of the new intro bc I personally love making alts and going through every starting zone. I’d def recommend, if you want to make alts, to play through the old starting zones because I think they add a cool roleplaying element to your character and kind of explain like the philosophy of the race you chose and like their major problems that would cause a hero like your character to take up arms. But ngl some are way more boring than others (worgen starting zone is sooo good imo though) and your not really introduced as a hero moreso like a random citizen who needs to help out but it just adds sooo much flavor Also you’re definitely making the right choice to not streamline it! One of the best things about wow is the discovery and learning what works for you and makes you excited
I would say Classic explains nothing, you have to figure out everything on your own. People don't like Exile's Reach because it expects you know nothing. So it's very handholding and a lot of veteran players don't like that. I do suggest new players take their time to get to understand what is explained on Exile's Reach, it might not explain everything, but it will make things easier.
Don't worry about gear too much before endgame. Game does pretty decent job making sure you have adequate gear. Since everything scales all the new gear is pretty much an upgrade. Few tips: 1. As warrior spend your rage. 2. Add few action bars from options menu (you can make keybindings for new and default bars in options too). 3. Turn on autoloot. 4. Have fun!

Always great to see new players coming to the game! I have one piece of advice regarding the story: Treat it like the MCU. It is absolutely massive and if after 20 (actually 30 years) of lore you go in with the expectation of grasping everything, you will likely just get lost. Now, in the MCU, you might focus on Iron Man or Spiderman for the start and then branch out to other heros and then you can start connecting the pieces. But for the start, try to have fun with these self-contained kind of stories, zone by zone.
Definitely play the game how you want! Don't worry about the correct build etc, Just experiment and try stuff out if you like the idea of it. There's lots of humour in the game which other MMO's don't seem to do well if at all. The story elements are fun. I think like most other games, the people that complain are in the minority, the people who are just enjoying playing aren't going to make a point of broadcasting it, they're too busy enjoying the content.

About gear: In modern wow you don't need gear until end-game. In vanilla, you can't kill a little bug without maxed gear for your level, so teamwork is mandatory. In cata, it is possible to level without any gear if you're skilled.
What you say about vanilla needing max gear for your level all the time is just flat out untrue. Gear is always helpful and impactful at any level, but you do not need the best gear constantly while leveling. Unless you're a warrior, then you are gonna wanna keep at least your weapon up to date!
@@AkiRa22084 What are you talking about? Druid is perhaps the LEAST gear dependent class! Feral druid's don't even need a weapon because of their forums. You could probably level a druid to 60 completely naked without much trouble.
@@JaggedJack1 lol, funny. Weapons had a stat just for feral, what are you on? You either lose most of you health or you lose most of your mana. Either way, you have to eat almost every pull. Just a waste of time.
@@AkiRa22084 Feral attack power on weapons did not exist in vanilla. I believe it was added in TBC. And you certainly did not have to "eat almost every pull" on a feral druid. While you are in feral form your mana bar is regenerating. So you kill a few mobs, shift out and heal yourself, then shift back into cat form and keep on grinding. You basically never have to eat or drink. Feral Druids are one of the quickest and most efficient levelers in classic.
I don’t hate Classic, but I do slightly dislike it. Not that it exists, it’s cool that people have that option. It just isn’t for me. My own reasoning is that I’ve played on and off since late-Vanilla (what people tend to call the original game before any expansions came out), and early TBC (The Burning Crusade, the game’s first expansion). So I’ve already experienced most of “Classic” in real time. And while there are things that I miss, there are more things that I definitely don’t. It was very slow, and very grindy. To the point that logging on and doing things sometimes felt like more of a chore than they were fun. A lot of systems were clunky, and underdeveloped, and have been vastly improved over the years. The interface is crisper, quests take a more direct line instead of you doubling-back on yourself all the time, etc. Another thing that annoys me about Classic, is that when Vanilla came out, everyone was new to the game. We were all learning together, trying and failing, getting lucky, often on crappy PCs full of lag because we were younger. We were slowly understanding what the best talents were, how to “not stand in the fire”, where lesser known quests were, etc. Because so many people now, as you observed, have been playing the games for well over a decade, many went into Classic armed with *too much* knowledge. They knew the best levelling routes, the best food & potions for buffs, which mobs dropped the best gear, the quickest ways to make gold. That sense of wonder and adventure was missing, because everything had been theory-crafted and min-maxed to the Nth degree. It made it even more overwhelming for any new player that may have wanted to try Classic. It’s why I prefer Hardcore and Season of Discovery when I play Classic. The sense of danger and mystery adds things to make it a more interesting experience. I’m happy it exists though, because if people are playing the game and enjoying it in any form, that’s a win in my book. And Retail isn’t without its problems. Being such an old game, it has system bloat, as well as a confusing web of expansion storylines and timelines that intersect and contradict each other at times. They’re doing their best to resolve those problems, but it’s gonna take a bit more time yet.

I just subbed to your channel so that I don't miss it when you try Classic. I am one of those players who will tell you Classic is hands down the best version of the game. I played wow extensively from 2004 (vanilla) through 2008 (WotLK). I quit in 2008 because I disliked the direction the game was going, even back then, and never once came back to retail as it drifted further and further down that path. Classic is so good, and it has aged well. But I am obviously nostalgic for the game, so I'm interested to see what a new player - especially one who started in retail - thinks of the classic experience when you get to it!

You should make a new video once you lvl 70 and discover how you need a currencies but you need another currencies to get it which require another currencies which require X item which require a special recipe which require an alchemist which require another rep grind which require another currencies. Or when you gonna try to join a raid but you wont be able to cause you have no parse because you never done a raid before so you can't have parse, so you have to buy a token to sell it and get an achievement that you can link to people so they think you already completed the hard raid or you gonna wait search 2 hour for a raid. or when you gonna try to do mythic + that give gear 490 but they want you to have gear 510 + to join them. That's where every of my friend left they just said f that.
@@itszouty Don't believe this guy one bit. Currencies are important just for solo gearing. If you do group content flightstones are the only currency and they are straightforward. Never "pug" (pick-up group with randoms), find a guild or a community, it's easier than ever now.

If you are a fan of rpg type games I would suggest you pickup the addon Dialogue UI it makes the quest system a lot more immersive.
