I like to ferment my yogurt for approximately 4 hours because I prefer mild yogurt. I also NEVER stir the finished yogurt around which breaks up the curd and makes it watery. You won’t have as much whey to drain if you don’t break up the curd. I put a quart, gently into a 8 cup jar to chill and use in recipes and the rest of it I make into Greek yogurt.
This was the easiest yogurt that I have ever made and I have been making yogurt since 1973. I used 3 quarts of whole milk and 1 quart of half and half….sweet and delicious. I do not like tangy yogurt…this was wonderful. I have a Greek yogurt strainer and used that to strain the whey. So good.
Fantastic video. This is the best video I have seen on how to use the ninja foodi for yogurt. This is much better than the video that Ninja put out themselves!
Got a bit stuck with the instruction book and this really helped. What a surprise to go onto RUclips and think "I know this fella". Hardly surprising . . . I live in Chesterfield, lol.
Thank you for this! Even the cookbook that came with my Foodi didn't have this information. The birds twittering in the background are an ASMR_extry-added bonus!
@@1Pizza2Many Haven't seen that one yet. This actually was the first one of yours I have came across. I will check that video out as well. I wish that they had a stainless steel pot so you dont have to worry about the finish as much. I'm glad the pots are reasonable priced in case I have to replace it or just getting a spare one.
Just poured my milk into the ninja! Super excited to give this a try. I hope it comes out good. I like making my own granola to top on the yoghurt too :)
Thanks for the video-I’ll making a batch today. Don’t have a local farm for milk, but found some grass-fed organic at the store. You mentioned making pizza dough with the yoghurt. Do you have a video or recipe for that? Enjoy your future Ninja Foodi fun!
Just bought my ninja this week, and I’m inspired 👍 Gonna try blueberry for moi and a lemon curd type base for the hubby. Do you think oat milk would work or soya milk?
I haven't tried oat milk etc, I am not sure it would work though. No harm in trying though 😊 I think you wouldn't need Xantham Gum or Agar to thicken it.
This video has helped so much! Didn't realize I had the YGRT setting and just put the first batch on slow cook for eight hours and wasted the batch! The manual that comes with it is Sh*t!!! When you cling wrapped it, did you leave it out or put it in the fridge?
I’m sorry but I have been making homemade yogurt for the last 50 years. I learned early on that if you let the yogurt incubate for 8 or 10 hours, you end up with vert tart yogurt. You can have a good firm yogurt in about 4 or 5 hours and it will be quite mild which we prefer. I love using my foodie but you CAN make yogurt in plain old canning jars, an old fashioned thermos, in bowls…all setting on a towel that is on heating pad. If it is SHARP….I don’t want it. Have fun.
@@1Pizza2Many Thank you so much for the wonderful information. Your the only video I have found on making yogurt with the Deluxe Foodi. Your my go to person now.
Oh…..sounds like you might be scratching the inside of your Ninja Foodi pot…you might want to get a silicone whisk and spoon. Try making some whipped cream yogurt some time using half whole and half heavy cream. I save my whey to make homemade bread.
It's because it has been open to the air even after the first boil/ pasteurisation and is stored with air. If you have a vac pack machine then it would last longer. Or try freezing it. It may last longer than 5 days also, just look for bubbles coming from the yoghurt. If there is it's past the point of eating. Hope that helps 😃
Depends on the temp of your fridge. Typical fridge is around 4C - fine to keep for a week. I keep my fridge at 1C - at that temp, you could probably keep it for a month, alternatively vac seal it which will also extend the life.
Could use a dehydrator. OR. Heat the milk up and let it cool using a pan. Then mix in the starter culture and pour into a Thermos flask. Wrap that in some towels and leave somewhere warm overnight. That should then give you a similar result. 😃
Is there anyway if skipping a process... You mentioned cooling it differently but how would the machine know if it does it via time? Can you skip the boiling if I were to use a sachet that only requires fermenting? Thank you
Hi, the machine does it off heat not time when cooling. You can skip the the warm up and cool down steps if you use UHT/ Sterilised milk to start with and just go straight to yoghurt fermentation stage. 😊👍🏻
@@1Pizza2Many that's great but how do you tell the machine to skip the boiling and cooling phase if using UHT milk please as the foodie has it programmed to do this already doesn't it?
@@1Pizza2Many well that's a shame that you have had to send yours back. Once again thank you for you quick reply and will look forward to the answer once you know if it's possible or not. Thank you

Awesome news, thanks Nancy 🙂
Made it and also strained it to make Greek. Amazing taste and very creamy. So easy to do and will definitely be making all my yoghurt from now on 😊

Thanks very much William for your kind comment, really has made my day 😃
Don’t throw the whey.. is very nutritious, you use can use it for baking it makes the bread soft.

Thank you, glad you found it helpful. That never occurred to me about the birds 👍🏻😍
Good Job with the video. I would suggest you get silicon utensils so you dont scratch your pot up.
Thanks Shelly. Have done since, although if you watch my video on "3 things I hate about the Ninja Foodi" the pot is on that list and my thoughts. 🙂

Yes true, there is an aftermarket stainless pot but it's not cheap! I'll try and find a link.
Great video and looks delicious im not a big fan of things like that but it looks amazing and worth a try like to eat

Good luck, let us know how it turns out 😊👍🏻
Great video Simon, the yogurt making process is a bit time consuming however I bet it tasted much better than the shops. Would be nice in a curry.
Yep tasted really good, would be great as a riata in a curry yep
Just found you and am making my first batch of yoghurt. I am moving to Chesterfield soon so will try the milk supplier too!
Thanks Susan. Yes defo worth a visit to the dairy. 😀👍

Yeah….I do not like the “sharpness” that you mention. I like it thick but mild and sweet.

Did exactly the same

Can you use the whey instead of using the reserve yoghurt as the starter for the next batch?
I just got a ninja foodi deluxe can you use loctose milk your video is perfect
Many thanks 😃
Do you mean can you use lactose free milk?
@@1Pizza2Many Am sorry yes sir
If you can find non pasteurised then you can attempt it, but without the lactose it won't form very good curds.

where do you get the " live culture" from?
Hi Barry, I bought it online 😀
How long would this yoghurt keep for? Use by basically. Thanks.
It should keep for 5 days in a sealed container 😃
Really only 5 days ? :( why is it because the milk has its own expiry already???

On the instant pot you add everything in at once and cook 8 hours then refrigerate 4 then strain why is the process different with the ninja.
If you are using UHT milk you can do that.
What other way could you make this if you don't have one of those machines

Great idea 💡😃

No worries 😊
Forget it I just buy it, long process!🤣
Haha yep very true 😂

If you remove the pot to cool down the milk the Ninja will reset again and starts all over. Do Not Remove the pot.
That's good to know, thanks for the tip 🙂
Sorry I forgot to mention, great job. That looks really yummy.
