Nice to see a fellow Evelyn! I'm transitioning to natural hand am overwhelmed watching some of the videos. I used to wear my hair in a fro and would just wash, condition and literally go. I needed your video to figure out how I am going to grow my hair out and care for it the right way.
I love your hair. I will soon start back wearing my natural hair out again. I don’t know what to do with it. So, I am glad for these videos. I 💗 your sister locks. Thank you for the great tips.
Your hair is beautiful. I’m struggling to find my holy grail products. My gray doesn’t respond to products the same way my colored hair does so still trying to figure it all out. Thanks for sharing.
Evelyn love this video 😍 was so nice to see your transition pictures. The sister locks looked nice on you. I appreciate your minimalist approach and your detailed products and how you use them!🦋
I just got my hair trimmed 11/7/19 and my hair was so tangled and rough, it’s almost completely gray now. I get it trimmed every 4 months. My hairdresser recommended a detangling brush instead of just finger detangling.
Hair dresser told you right. Oh, okay; you need to stay up too of the moisture. I used to use Felecia Leatherwood Detangling Brush, but I returned to using the Denman Brush. I find the Denman has more give/ flexibility.
Your hair is gorgeous and healthy. I spent years wearing weaves and thinned out my crown terribly. I’ve been natural for years now, but my hair texture has changed and my crown looks awful. I have to wear hair bands, and do all types of maneuvering measures to cover up my thin crown. I’m so angry that l did this to myself. I use to have thick healthy hair. I know that l am older now, but it shouldn’t be this thin. I’m going to use your technique as it’s easy to follow and no fuss! Thank you for the tips...new subbie...
Hey Kem! Thank you! Have you tried massaging your crown to stimulate the scalp for increased blood flow to the area? Or even using a shampoo thay stimulates your scalp? I'd recommend seeing a dermatologist, if you haven't already to determine if your crown area has the potential to thicken. It could be scarring/damage to the scalp area in your crown, which might be a reason for your hair being thinner in that area. I hope the technique works for you! Thanks for chiming in and commenting! Wishing you the best!🌻
Your hair is so pretty 😊 Thank you for sharing your styling routine. Blessings 💓 I am a CurlSmith user. Love all their products. Thank you for sharing your hair routine. Your hair looks so healthy and moisterized. ☺😊☺
Hi Lorraine! My first cousin's wife shares your first name. Thanks for watching and for the feedback! I'm glad you found this video helpful!! Take care, and have a wonderful weekend!!
Hi Robin! I love Mielle's hair milk. My favorites have changed since uploading this video. I prefer a fluffy wash and go look, my twist-outs are just okay. Thanks for stopping by and for connecting!! Have a wonderful week!
You hair looks absolutely amazing! Just a few questions - 1) When you retwist at night, do you use a comb to detangle? 2) On day 1 (when you have shampooed and conditioned), how long do you have to leave your twists in to dry and have definition? 3)What are your thoughts on mineral oil in products? 4) How do you incorporate the Blue Magic into your routine? When I was a new natural back in 2010, I was very disappointed to discover that many of Miss Jessie's products had mineral oil. Because of the price, I expected them to be 100% natural. I notice that you do incorporate a clarifying shampoo in your routine and build up is obviously not a problem for you. But, I was just wondering - since mineral oil (mineral jelly, petroleum, petrolatum, etc.) often gets a bad rap from the natural hair community. Also, thanks for your review on the Suave Clarifying Shampoo. It's always good to have inexpensive, quality products that work. Thanks for sharing your journey. Happy Sunday! (HINT, HINT - more hair videos PLEASE!)
Thanks, Trinity!🙏🏾😊 1- Most times I don't use a comb only my fingers. But if I am going from wearing a wash-n-go and it's dry, I'll spritz little water and apply moisturizer gently detangle with fingers, a wide tooth comb, Felecia Leatherwood brush or a paddle brush. This is usually the only time I use a tool for detangling. (I detangle the section I'm twisting) 2- If I twist my hair on day one, I leave them in overnight, if I'm going somewhere the next day, I'll release the twists or just cover my head with a beanie. But if I do a wash-n-go (no gel), before I'm heading out the door, I usually twist my hair the next night or two, apply moisturizer mainly to the ends of the hair, and set with twists. 3- I used to avoid mineral oil and petroleum products, but after revisiting them, I don't have a problem using them. My hair stays moisturizerd longer and feels better since, I started back using these products. 4- Sometimes, I'll use Blue Magic for a twist out or place a little around my hair line/edges. When I use for twisting, I use a leave in conditioner and a little Blue Magic then twist. I don't use it on my my hair, unless I have wet/damp my hair. 5- I've used a clarifying shampoo before I started using Miss Jessie's. When I was doing mostly wngos, I had a sulfate free clarifying shampoo, that I used (Malibu C Undo Goo) and I would always follow with a moisturizing shampoo/cowash. Clarifying has always been a part of my routine. I don't have a problem with Miss Jessie's Buttercreme building up on my hair, because I don't apply a lot at one time (I'm light handed) and I only use it when my hair feels dry. Thanks for the questions and I hope my answers are clear. If you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask! I'll do more hair videos in the future. Let me know what you'd like to see. Have a beautiful day! 🤗🌼💕 P.S. I only buy Miss Jessie's when they have a sale.
Thanks for your reply. I’d like to see your routine that you follow going from a w-n-g to twists. I always like it when vloggers share their success with hair products that are easily accessible. Thanks for including your success with familiar products. I have discovered that having a good routine , using tools that don’t cause damage and using quality products go hand in hand to promote and maintain healthy hair.
I'm struggling with the dry hair. I usually braid it every night. Thanks for the Blue Magic hint though... I've been wondering about using it. I'll watch again, and make a list of the products. I, however, love my salt n pepper hair. Thanks for taking time to help your sisters out. 🙂
@@revlovee What I find helpful is getting a quality shampoo and conditioner to lay the moisture foundation. Then you build on that. Try applying products to your braids each night if needed. If your hair feels dry use a moisturizing product (water-based) and then put a little pomade on the section. Be light-handed when your doing this and only do it when your hair feels like it needs something. Check out my recent video of when I share how I maintain a blow-out. I explain it better in that video. ruclips.net/video/u1YBsOshaZo/видео.html Hope this helps and if you have further questions, feel free to email me contact[at]evelynparham.com Thanks so much & take care!! 🤗🌻
Thank you! I don't use a lot of products now, maybe when I uploaded this video, I shared a lot, if my memory serves me well. I have a current favorites video up and it's a lot less. I do have separate products for doing a wash-n-go, so I still have a little stash. 😀 Thanks for watching and commenting!! Have a great day!
Thanks, Hannah!! My daughter's name is your name and spelled the exact way too. So 😎 cool! I'm glad you found this video informative, and I appreciate you watching!!🤗🌻
Hi beautiful amazing bless sister thank you for sharing very nice I have a dreadlocks but I only use coconut and Sulfur 8 hair grease ,your hair is very beautiful Sis full watch
I used to wear Sisterlocks, as you probably noticed in the video. Good ole Sulfur 8, I remember that grease. Thank you, sister, for sharing what you use and for the full watch. 🤗
Thanks for the skin compliment! I don't advertise, but I do share on other social media platforms. But most of my views are from within this platform (suggested/recommended), search, and home. Take care!🌻🌻🌻
I like hour video and thank u for the wash day routine. But have gray hair any products turn ur gray same color of hair products. I'm silver gray and I'm careful of products. See u again.
No problem! I haven't had any issues with products turning my hair the same color as the product. Most hair products I use are white or off-white. But I also use a purple shampoo every 6-8 weeks. Thanks for watching and commenting!🤗🌻
What made you take yourself the logs out I had them twice and cut them off I was thinking about getting them again but I like my hair when it looks natural and all over the place what is your advice
Hi Ann! I had locks for almost 4 years and I was just tired of them. I wanted to see my loose natural hair. Well, if you like how your natural hair looks, then you may not want to lock your hair. However, if you like the locks go for it.
I just bought the Tresemme conditioner you showed after an a Internet search and their shampoo. I had been using a product not mentioned that is supposed to be for black hair, but it seems to be making my hair fall out. My hair is similar to yours as far as curl pattern but does not really fluff. It is graying and I think we are the same age judging from your graduation photos. Thanks for this video and your channel. New sub :)
Thanks for telling me how you found this video!👍🏾 I'm sorry about your experience, I've had some of the same experiences and I've learned everything that is marketed for black folk hair isn't always good; good formulation is key and most hair care products have some of the same ingredients. The only difference is formulations; some are good and some not so much. Tresemme is pretty good, I do not use it now, but if, I was in a pinch and had to be tight with the coins, Tresemme would be my first choice to buy. It's always a pleasure connecting with other women who are my age.😍 Thank you so much for subscribing and have a wonderful day!!🌻
New Subbie here #489! Ooohhh I love your hair. Do you find that the texture of your grey is different from your other strands? Im experiencing that so I wonder if its just me. I love that Shea Moisture Argon Oil & the Blue Magic is always going to be a must sis! I stopped using the EcoStyler because it was thinning me out at the top.
Hey Tameka!! Thank you for subscribing and for the compliment about my hair!!🙏💛 Yes, the grey texture is slightly different and it has a mind of its own. So it's not just you, it's the nature of how grey hair behaves. But I find that adding more moisturizer to the grey hair helps with having more control. I don't use Ecostyler gel for that reason - I notice excessive hair shed every time I use it. I'll need to do an update on the gels I actually use. 🤔 I appreciate 🙏 you sharing what you like using for your hair! Blue Magic is definitely a keeper!! 👍 Have a wonderful day!!🤗
@@evelyn.reviews I'm definitely hitting the bell because I need to learn more about this grey! Excited to follow your channel. Thanks for sharing your life/hair with us!
Hi I have trouble with dryness. How long do you let your hair stay in that style. You stated that you twist your at night is that every night. I have Moore gray and my hair is shorter. I love that style. Where i live it is very humid. Need to know what to use for that. HELP!!!
Hi Cynthia! As it stands now, I only have issues with dryness, when I use certain gels or other products that aren't that moisturizing. Currently, when I'm wearing my hair in a twist out, I will re-twist at night when my hair needs moisture, plus it just depends on how my hair looks too. So most times, I re-twist because I want it to look fresh and I know some people don't recommend re-twisting. I go by how my hair feels as well as how it looks. But I prefer to twist my hair at night because I don't like sleeping on loose hair that's been twisted. However, when my hair is in a wash and go, I will sleep on loose hair granted I sleep on a satin pillow case or in a satin bonnet. Right now my hair is flat twisted. I originally twisted the a few nights ago, but didn't add any product because my hair felt moisturized, but last night it felt dry; I went in with moisturizing and flat twisted. I won't take down my hair until Tuesday, if I don't wear a beanie. I want to keep it twisted. 😆 As for humidity, look for products that are NOT heavy in glycerin or bring the moisture. Example, I cannot use As I Am's curl enhancing smoothie (long and luxe) for twist-outs because my hair will re-vert to a soft, fro in humidity, but it's fine for the cooler months for me. You have lots of options for styling, (foam, setting lotion, curl cream).. Consider drying your hair under a dryer for a good set, that way you hair will hold up longer with the humidity and you can get away without re-twisting if you prefer not to. If need be, use a pomade/light grease to fight humidity too. I hope this helps! Thanks for your comment and enjoy your day!!
Eden Body Works Curl Defining Cream is humidity resistant. You might want to try that or Taliah Waajid-s Curly Curl Cream (I'm not sure about the humidity resistance).
Hi Ms. Mary! My mom's name is Mary😀 Start keeping it moisturized, by starting with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner; it lays the foundation for building moisture. Then build from there by using a leave in product. Thanks for stopping by 😊 and stay safe!!
She Must be a beautiful person, thank you for sharing your information I'm going back to one of your videos I watched and check out the products you recommend.
I've updated my favorite products and will have a video coming out soon. However, the products I shared in previous videos are okay to use as well. Thanks so much and if you have questions, feel free to ask!
Well, all that shampoo and conditioner and wash twice a week might be good for your hair but, not hair would fall out with all thatch my hair. I use a good shampoo n a leave conditioner and my hair has grown just using those two hair products but, everybody has a different type hair that requires. more attention to it.i stop going to hair salon becuz they over press my hair. But by the way you have beatiful head of hair n it looks like you have a lot bounce and it looks healthy..
Hi Ms. Bettty! These days, I shampoo once a week. Thanks for commenting and sharing what works for you! I agree with you; a good shampoo and conditioner make a difference. It lays the foundation for a healthy head of hair. Thank you for the compliment on my hair!! 🌻🌻
Hello Evelyn. I’m Sarah. I have short kinky gray hair. I did not realize it is best to use so many products. Have you heard of Purbellanaturals hair care products? Google & let me know what you think. I watched your video. I used Nexus products years ago. I looked at them recently & I think I will try the conditioner on my natural hair. I also have sensitive scalp. Enjoyed your video!
Hi Sarah! You don't have to use a lot of products. A shampoo, conditioner, leave-in (optional), and oil/hair grease or gel (styling product) is really all you need. I'm a little bit of a product junkie and I'm trying to become a product minimalist, I'll get there eventually.😊 I've never heard of Purbella Naturals, it looks like a pretty good line, minimal products, which is good. I'm sure she will add more products as her business grows. The Nexus conditioner is pretty good. Thanks for commenting and for the feedback on my video!🙏🏽🤗
Thanks! 😊 Be sure your cleansing and conditioning products are moisturizing for your hair and be sure to deep condition (based on what your hair needs). An oil treatment is also works great for treatments. A good moisturizing cream or serum/oil can also help with frizz. But moisture is key for decreasing frizz. I hope this helps!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Evelyn! My children are bi-racial and I have not done a good job of teaching them how to take care of their hair. This video was so helpful. Would you be able to tell me what would be the best way to protect my daughter's hair at night? I have also not been successful teaching her how to keep her hair wrapped at night. Everything we put on falls off. She has a looser curl but her hair is bit dry. Thank you for the video!
Glad it was helpful! I ordered a satin bonnet that is adjustable and won't slide off the head from www.glowbydaye.com/collections/satin-bonnets. Glow By Daye has bonnets for kids too that are also adjustable. Mielle Avocado Moisturizing hair milk is excellent for adding moisture to the hair. Thanks for watching and commenting!

You don't need a lot of products. Shampoo to keep hair clean, conditioner for moisture, and a moisturizer or an oil/grease, if you so choose. A leave-in is conditioner optional. That's 3-4 products. It's up to you as to how much you want to spend. There are cheaper products on the market that work just as well, from drug store, beauty supply, to higher end products; the ball is in your court. If your hair is dry focus on using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and a moisturizer for retaining moisture in your hair. Gray hair/graying hair is usually coarser and more unruly, so focus on moisture for the hair. Take care!! 🙂
Hey Nappy Scribe!! I think you're doing well with not leaving the yarn twists in for more than two weeks. If you don't get tired of doing your hair, then you should be okay. 💠The longer we leave extensions in our hair, the harder it is/can be when it comes to take-down. What do I mean? 💠Some people when taking down extensions, just take them down and move straight to shampooing the hair, which makes it difficult to detangle the hair. 💠The trick is to use some kind of detangler (spray) during and after take-down to prevent tangling and matting from occurring when water and shampoo hit the hair. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Evelyn Parham yes. I liked and subscribed too. I plan to follow you. Your hair looks like I want mine to look. Maybe I’d better stop with the yarn twists. I cut my hair so short that I needed something in so I wouldn’t scare him!
Thank you for subscribing and if there is anything you'd like to see, just let me know!!🙏🏾😊 I understand not wanting to wear the short cut, I was like that, but I just kept my short hair moisturized with some curl definition. And you can do comb coils or and coil outs, which are cute on short hair. If you like yarn twists, keep wearing them, but just be mindful of how long you leave the twists in your hair. Take care!!
I shampoo once a week, but sometimes I push it to once every two weeks (only if I don't have time for weekly). Also, if I'm wearing a wash and go, I'll shampoo once in the week and use Cowash product mid-week to restyle only if needed. Great question and you gave me an idea for a future video!! Thanks so much for commenting!!
Evelyn Parham I hate washing and can go weeks if I have it in tiny twist. I was thinking of going to sisterlocs but hesitant because of the price. Why did you cut them out. Guess I’ll take done my twist and clarify wash. Thanks for video. I will subscribe.
@@rubyreed8690 Thanks for subscribing!🙏🤗 I got tired of wearing Sisterlocks and the whole process of getting re-rightenings. I had started doing my own retightnings toward the end because I got tired of paying $90 a pop and having a sore head. I had Sisterlocks for almost 4-years and I was ready to see my loose hair too (2005-2009). If I were to lock today, I wouldn't get Sisterlocks, I'd probably do traditional locks, the way Damien Walter (he's on RUclips) installs and maintains them. Thanks again for connecting and if there's anything you'd like to see, feel free to let me know; I'll try to make it happen. Happy washing 😀 and enjoy your day!
Dam seems like this natural hair journey is a study by itself. I thought shampoo was shampoo.i came here for a .......simple routine.so many products...I am confused...blue magic it is...sounds good .
Hey Helen! You don't need to use a lot of products. Always, do what works for you. All anyone needs is 4-5 products. A shampoo, conditioner, leave-in (optional), oil, and a gel/styling product. I'd consider my routine simple compared to what I've seen others do on RUclips. It doesn't take me a whole day to wash my hair. I'm not spending no more than an hour on my hair and I ain't deep conditioning every time I shampoo, unless my hair needs it. As for shampoo, there are different shampoos to help with different situations. But for the most part a moisturizing shampoo or a good pH balanced shampoo will get the job done. Thanks for your comment!!
What's too much? The products. The hairstyling? The cost? We don't need a lot to take care of our hair. Simplicity is a shampoo, conditioner, oil, a gel, and minimal styling. I'm working on decreasing the number of products I use, but first, I need to use up what I currently have and not purchase anything new. She says thanks for the compliment! Take care!

Evelyn Parham, thank you for the tips to a thicker crown🙂
No problem!!

Thank you for sharing your hair routine. Your hair looks so healthy and moisterized. ☺😊☺
Hi Gina! Thank you so much! CurlSmith is getting popular around here. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Thank you for sharing your routine and products. Great information and practical hair care routine. Very helpful!!
Hi Lorraine! My first cousin's wife shares your first name. Thanks for watching and for the feedback! I'm glad you found this video helpful!! Take care, and have a wonderful weekend!!
I love Mielle organic products. However, I don’t like my twist outs. I prefer wash and gos. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Trinity!🙏🏾😊
1- Most times I don't use a comb only my fingers. But if I am going from wearing a wash-n-go and it's dry, I'll spritz little water and apply moisturizer gently detangle with fingers, a wide tooth comb, Felecia Leatherwood brush or a paddle brush. This is usually the only time I use a tool for detangling. (I detangle the section I'm twisting)
2- If I twist my hair on day one, I leave them in overnight, if I'm going somewhere the next day, I'll release the twists or just cover my head with a beanie.
Ty, 💘 your hair. My hair looks like yours. I'm 4c. I'm not coloring my bday anymore. I'll be 66 in March. Lord willing.
Thank you! 😊 And sending early birthday wishes your way!!🤗🌻

Lovely I have gray hair and natural 😍 I'm glad to see 👀 your hair video
Hi, Stacy! Gray and natural is beautiful!! 🤩 Thanks for your feedback and for watching!! Have a wonderful evening!!🤗🌻
I explain it better in that video. ruclips.net/video/u1YBsOshaZo/видео.html

Thank you! I don't use a lot of products now, maybe when I uploaded this video, I shared a lot, if my memory serves me well.
I have a current favorites video up and it's a lot less. I do have separate products for doing a wash-n-go, so I still have a little stash. 😀

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful.

Love your hair. You use Blue Magic occasionally, do you apply to your scalp or directly to hair?

Thank you for subscribing and for the compliment about my hair!!🙏💛
Yes, the grey texture is slightly different and it has a mind of its own.
I appreciate 🙏 you sharing what you like using for your hair! Blue Magic is definitely a keeper!! 👍
Have a wonderful day!!🤗
@@evelyn.reviews I'm definitely hitting the bell because I need to learn more about this grey!

As for humidity, look for products that are NOT heavy in glycerin or bring the moisture.
Thanks
My hair is thick and I know it's stripped and I also am natural almost a year.
Hi Ms.
Thanks I will and waiting on the next video as well!
Great 👍

Hello Evelyn. I’m Sarah. I have short kinky gray hair. I did not realize it is best to use so many products. Have you heard of Purbellanaturals hair care products? Google & let me know what you think. I watched your video. I used Nexus products years ago. I looked at them recently & I think I will try the conditioner on my natural hair. I also have sensitive scalp. Enjoyed your video!
Hi Sarah! You don't have to use a lot of products. A shampoo, conditioner, leave-in (optional), and oil/hair grease or gel (styling product) is really all you need.
I'm a little bit of a product junkie and I'm trying to become a product minimalist, I'll get there eventually.😊
I've never heard of Purbella Naturals, it looks like a pretty good line, minimal products, which is good. I'm sure she will add more products as her business grows.
The Nexus conditioner is pretty good. Thanks for commenting and for the feedback on my video!🙏🏽🤗
Good video
I get a lot of frizz what would recommend

*loc
Thank you Andrea!😊
Wow, these are alot of products.....kinda expense. I'm looking for something just for Natural Graying Hair.
Take care!! 🙂
I try to leave my hair alone so I have my hair in yarn twists and take them down every week or two. Never more than a week. What do you think?
Take care!!
How often do you wash?
@@rubyreed8690 Thanks for subscribing!🙏🤗
I got tired of wearing Sisterlocks and the whole process of getting re-rightenings.
Thanks for your comment!!

too much the goal is to simplify, but she has pretty hair
What's too much? The products. The hairstyling? The cost?
We don't need a lot to take care of our hair. Simplicity is a shampoo, conditioner, oil, a gel, and minimal styling.
I'm working on decreasing the number of products I use, but first, I need to use up what I currently have and not purchase anything new.
She says thanks for the compliment! Take care!
A lot of products..
