Not quite. This is European Damascus steel replica. The original oriental Damascus steel is different and it’s unknown how it was made. Most likely you had a big clay crucible with iron at the bottom under a layer of sand. Above was coal and iron stacked. The whole thing was put over a fire and as the iron melted it dripped down and took the carbon from the coal with it. The sand melted and formed a molten glass puddle above the iron, where iron could go through, because it was heavier, but the coal stayed above. So the high carbon iron came from the top and mixed with the low carbon iron from the bottom and that produced the pattern. The European version is just a lot easier and quicker and more reliable. Not as hard tho and more as a decoration than as an actual weapons material.
Here's a question I'd love an answer to: When forge welding pieces together, I see that you surface grind the touching faces, ensuring you got a flat contact surface ... now I'm wondering, would the weld not be much stronger if when surface grinding, you took it down to 1000 or 3000 grit ? Keep up the good work and keep the Craft alive!
Now you should forge a piece of the mandolorians armor with you besker block.
umm beskar is not a currency it's just expensive as hell
James Gryffindor it can be used as currency. It’s like gold in are world, you don’t buy car with gold but you can convert it into a large amount of money (credits).
@@rottenpotato9290 yeah that's what I said
@John Chrysostom why?
Don't u see this is a nerd converation?
James Gryffindor lol yes!
I will be disappointed if they don't test the beskar steel 's resistance to lightsabers
Just a heads up, beskar is an iron not a steel. Its incredibly dense and extremely heat resistant
Nice job.
This is the WAY.
Next time use a hammer on the anvil if you want delicate.
So when someone asks you "who do I gotta kill to get one of those?", answer: baby yoda lol
Is a Brit, wears an American flag shirt😂
He is a pseudoBrit.
@@darthbuzz1 Gone native
He’s just lived in America for a long time, there’s no problem in that he just works there
@@Dan-zc7ut I see no problem either. Just kinda funny
If you want more detail, you could use the method used by mints. Create a master in a material easier to engrave - the master being many times larger than the desired working die. You then use a pantograph to engrave the much smaller steel working die.
I would love to see how you would do making armor, starting with the mandalorian armor.
