Because What makes the CRYSKNIFE what it is, is that it's blade was made from a Tooth of a dead "Shai-Hulud" aka the Sandworm of Arakis / Planet Dune. This is what distinguishes a Crysknife from a normal knife - The Sandworm Tooth blade 🙂

I was very thrown off by Alec's pronunciation of Crysknife. As a HUGE fan of everything Dune, I almost cried when you said "Cries-knife" lol. I seriously almost clicked off the video XD. But, upon searching for a good spelling to get the pronunciation across I've realized that the first result on google is actually wrong, the internet has failed you. I get that you're chasing the algorithm trying to make popular culture relevant pieces and I respect it. I understand that's what you must do for your job and not everything you make you're gonna be a fan of the related content or even familiar with it, so totally an understandable mistake. But it's pronounced "criss-knife", like crystal-knife, as in universe it's made from the crystalline teeth of the sandworm. Love your content, keep up the awesome work!

On designing this blade I suggest forgetting the movies , I suggest re/reading the book "Dune", it's well worth the time. The Crysknife is the emblematic of the fictional Bedouin-like "fremen", they are totamic culturally as a Sikh Kirpan or a Scottish Dirk. Those knives are made from the teeth of the colossal sandworm of Arakis. Like the Nepalese kukri knives. , once drawn they cannot be re-seathed until they draw blood. They are hollow like a porcupine quill and frequently contain a poison reservoir. Because the fighting style they are designed for take into account the fictional technology of a personal forcefield. Meaning direct hits get deflected but shallow slow cuts can penetrate. Ergo the need for a fast acting contact poison.
Take your time , design your own version of this, it will be much more rewarding.
Aside, super curious to see what you'll choose for handle material. Some likely choice: Silk micarta (silk is made by worms), laminated cuttlefish cartilage, ethically sourced narwal or walrus tusk, desert ironwood or Wormwood , petrified cinnamon bark ("spice" reference). There are some Challenging choices...

Enamored with the Movie and books of Dune. If you want to give the knife away to someone in the USA - I would be happy to be the recipient of the CRYSKNIFE. 🤫 Stay safe.

I never saw the movie but in the books, the krys knife is made from a giant worm tooth .. and as to that it needs to be kept next to the body so that it stays within body temperature ... if not it will decay and disintigrate ... now you know

It was the electrical field of a body that kept the blade from dissolving

@@DarkSeraph351 From what I remembered it had to do with the human condition .. at least for me it was the temperature although it could very well be the field of electricity I read the books when I was 12 or 13 so ya interpretations were varied... I think the whole crux of the idiom is that proximatey to the user's body was the key
