Petey needs to put on 15-20 pounds of muscle in the off season
That would require eating 8 large meals a day and lifting heavy weights 3 hrs a day.
I felt the same. He's too slight for the increased physicality of the playoffs. A minimum of 10 to 12 lbs he needs. Maybe 20. Otherwise, he's too easily pushed around.
Hard to fight genetics sometimes though.
@@pf8380very true. Some gain mass fairly easily, but others, perhaps Petterson, have to eat enormous amounts to merely put on 5 lbs. And then there's no guarantee that the weight stays on. But without increased mass, he's going to be almost invisible in future post season play.
@@G_Ellis606 gaining 15-20lbs easl;y achevable but guessing replace half of meals with that protein powder stuff ?
It’s still not a cup year for the oilers…. And thats not just coming from a sour Canucks fan lol, it’s just fact. The Canucks proved everyone wrong all regular season, and two rounds of the post season, it’s something to be proud of and build on. Go canucks go!!
I think the Oilers are going to get swept by the Dallas Stars! Go Canucks Go!
Even more impressive when you consider they essentially didn't have the services of both Petterson and Demko in the playoffs. Just like 2011, they lost game 7 at home. Like the bubble, they were stopped again so close to making the final four. Fingers crossed that they can continue to get better under this new management group.
@Sagarsrage I doubt that will happen. But the Stars are very good, but the Oil have demonstrated an ability to keep their heads in a low scoring game. That said, they'll ultimately be undone by their merely average netminding. If Dallas wins, I really hope they can win the Cup so that Tanev can get a ring.
Series will be good. I grew up a Wpg fan, and watched Gretzky and the Oilers continually knock my team out in the first round (usually 4 straight). Know what kept me going? The fact they beat everyone else too - as a Jets fan then I could hold my head up high and say "hey, we weren't the only team they beat". You see where I'm going with this?
@@donmackie6086 Demko hurt for sure, but - ALL teams are hurt this time of year. We were missing Henrique, our top overall dman Ekholm has been very sick and playing with an injury, and McDavid has been sick. But go ahead, keep piling on the excuses. You guys were lucky to get by Nashiville - an inside the post on an empty net away from losing that one game and who knows what happens then.
No body is going to convince me Frank is not a chipmunk
Seravalli out here saying the Canucks are short 3 wingers while saying how long did the Oilers go without having wingers. Newsflash, the Oilers are still a 2 trick pony...2 players that do most of the work and a powerplay...thats it. Beating the canucks doesn't mean anything for the Oilers. They were down there starting Vezina calibre goalie with whom they play much more aggressive in front of. Don't forget, it took playing Mcdavid and Draisaitl 30 minutes a game for over half the series
Worse thing the canucks ever did was to sigh petey before the end of the season , he is weak on the puck and needs at least 40 pounds on that skinny frame , he has been a dud these playoffs .,
Absolutely should have waited until AFTER the playoffs.
Hindsight is powerful thing
Great interview.
Petey has not shown much since he signed. Perhaps he injured his hand signing that massive, long term contact.
6 years ago, the Canucks gave Tyler Myers a 6x6 contract. From that perspective, where the cap is and what Zadorov provides, which I would argue is more than what Myers did, if that's what Zadorov wants, that seems reasonable. However, given the cap situation the Canucks are in, and the players they need to resign/replace, hopefully they can get something done for cheaper. Say what you want about Hronek being a top 4 right shot D, he was virtually invisible in a bad way in the second half and the playoffs and if he wants big money, his RFA status means the Canucks have to move him. He'll be hard, but not impossible to replace. I'd focus on Joshua, Zadorov, Lindholm (which gives them a fantastic punch down the middle and plenty of options) and potentially Bluegar. They'll save money having Silovs as the backup instead of DeSmith, and if they can find a replacement for Hronek for roughly the same cap hit as this season, they're laughing. They also have 2.5 million in a cap recapture penalty for OEL next year. My guess is that Rutherford and Co will want to spend to the cap, so they can probably keep the guys they want to keep sans Hronek and find a replacement if they're careful with the space they have. I don't know that bringing Myers back makes sense, unless his cap hit is under 3.
Yup. Agree. Let Hronek walk and try to sign Big Z and also hopefully a modest contract for Myers. That's not fantasy thinking when you consider the value that Tocchet puts on D men with size.
Myers contract was 5 years.
Zadorov will be priced out.
I agree with you on moving Hronek.
@@donmackie6086 Hronek won't walk. He's an RFA. They'll get something for him.
Myers was 5 years. You're thinking Loui Eriksson, who was 6x6.
I think you really summed this up nicely!
Underestimate this management team at your peril. Frank , you should know better
Circus wins were game 1 and 4 Nashville and game 1 Edmonton. Trade Pettersson to Ottawa for Tkachuk.
Great show
Dallas in 5.
Classic Oiler hate from the legions of Canadian haters of the greatest Canadian franchise, sick
@@dennismcconaghy5515truth hurts, Chachi, quit trolling, you won, isn't that good enough for you
Can we play this for Frank next year when they are better
Regardless of what you think of Frank, he's usually right. I remember he was one of the few sports journalists who thought the Canucks would make the playoffs. But it's definitely disappointing to see the performance of game 5 followed by 6 and 7 where the Oilers did a Nashville 2.0 on Vancouver. Personally, I knew it was over after doing nothing on the 4 min PP in the first.
@@donmackie6086 He's not usually right haha he was right about that though. He repetitively said Miller was gone for 2 seasons straight and was wrong
Blame goes to ownership that did a rebuild on the fly, paying players big💰 with lengthy contracts, should’ve built through the draft no wonder linden left
I'm a doctor n I suspect players like Hughes and pettersson have undiagnosed concussions
How would that affect there play ? Would it make them have less energy ?
@@coachrobwille4176 absolutely it would. Performance will suffer for sure. In a superstar it will make them much more average. Concussions can really get missed in diagnosis, largely because they are not well unstood by many professionals. I've had 1 before following a car accident that got missed by everyone and it bit me pretty good later. I figured it out myself when I saw the change in cognitive ability and realized I'd better go in and get it addressed. The neurologist agreed I had post Concussion issues.
In athletes Performance really suffers and continuing to play just perpetuates it
@@coachrobwille4176 yes. Athletic performance would greatly decline. He looks like he's in a fog all the time
And, or no spines.
Missed opportunity is dead on for sure. But was it was not inexperience, more just plain not good enough. They were not good enough. They are a little small up front. Without some secondary scoring, they are not going to get any farther. Playoffs are where skill goes to die. Playoffs is about size.
Imagine If Pettersson was putting up a point per game like he's payed to do
It's about size and attitude.....which is why we have to keep Zadarov. Imagine Boston without Chara for all those years.
Why is Frank suddenly the expert on the Canucks. I think he nakes golf this stuff up!
Petterson had some great hits but this is not what we're paying him for.
(goalies don't play 82 game seasons, ever)
I kept reading in the comments everywhere, that the canucks are deep, nobody respects the Nucks. The crazy circus comebacks wasn’t sustainable.
Lack of killer instincts, period.
Too little, too late.
Seravalli is a joke
Go away Frank.
Frank keepin it real
Only one team wins
Whoa! Mind blown.
The better team won that series. It would have been no different with Demmers'
In a series this close, even one or two saves makes a huge difference
Frankie is a bum
New coach or new manager, who ever insisted on playing a non productive Pettersson . One goal in 25 games might be okay if you are a very effective defenseman. But for a forward it's a disaster . Pettersson playing so poor he dragged the whole line down . This is the pros ,you can win if one line is dead . The little sh__ should have been benched . Hurt or healthy the guy was a dud .He should have been benched a Abbotsford hardest working forward should have suited up . Who knows that might have shook the little punk out of the money induced funk he is in ( just check his record since he signed that huge contract , don't believe me , check it out )
I assume you dont watch the games
@@eriklundberg6037 never assume , you're not very good at it . But I must admit to wondering if you can read numbers .

Canucks won’t make the playoffs next year.
Peterson, if he is not injured, needs to address his skating, he is too upright....like he has hip mobility issues...and he needs to add 10 pounds. His contract is an anchor on the Canucks Stanley cup hopes in my opinion.
Frank believed when no one did gotta give props
