- Grand Seiko has a lot of references in the catalogue, and we often see the brand take one of its established dial patterns and introduce it in a variety of hues - think the Snowflake, Mt. Iwate, and Birch dials. For the Birch dial references alone you can explore silver, green, blue, and black. I am not throwing any shade here, it makes sense to offer as many colours of these handsome textures - and each new texture takes time to develop. I have to admit I like this far more than I expected. Stunning.
I love rivers. This one of the few GS dials that made really want one of their watches. I think their strategy is "keep making different nature dials until everyone can relate to at least one of them".
If I could have 1 watch this year, one single piece for my wrist - it'd be the Grand Seiko Genbi Valley! Not any of the amazing $100K+ Patek, AL&S or Rolex models; no, this amazing ever so subtle green dialed Grand Seiko would be my choice. It's stunning.

The dial pattern is absolutely amazing, Grand Seiko dials are simply on another level. One thing I dislike about this line of Grand Seiko watches is the lug (and therefore bracelet) width and lack of taper on the bracelet. The watch would be more elegant and better proportioned overall if the bracelet was less bulky.

This is one of the most beautiful dials I have ever seen. I am in awe. screw down crown and 100m water resistance, everbrilliant steel and a stellar GS movement...I am sold. I have to own one. I want it more than ANY Rolex.

Love it! New pattern looks great. Ryusendo maybe my favorite, followed by the shunbun. Yes, more brilliant steel. Also more bright Ti. BTW - T&T are crushing it getting all these new releases out quickly!
Omiwatri and the Night Stream would have to be my current #1 dial textures in the catalogue.
This Genbi Valley though is certainly a winner. Would love to see a variation with the latest spring drive movement

To answer your question in the video, my favorite dial from GS is Cherry Blossom and accordingly, I got one 🌸 Thos watch and dial, I wasn't sure from the website and studio pictures, but looks gorgeous in live shots. Thank you for the upload and sharing with the world. I agree that they'll use shinier steel in most of their watches like Rolex with their Oyster Steel, and hope evolution 9 see improvement in their bracelet soon.

I'm pretty sure this one also has the ghost lion logo, same as on the white birch.

GS is way way headup in daily game , i personally love GS before dawn lake suwa , it looks blue in light and almost textured dark navy black in low light

When it comes to fine imitation watches, nkuwan delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
Here’s where I’m a little confused about Grand Seiko and would love to hear from some of the people that perhaps own one. First, I heard the accuracy of this movement is not superb compared to the spring drive. Second, there is no lume you this watch so what do you do if it’s night time and you want to see the time, pull out your iPhone? And lastly, that bracelet has no micro adjustments, which seems like a giant pain for getting an accurate fit and resizing. For these reasons and especially the price I’m not convinced that it’s worth it.
This movement is unfortunately not very accurate indeed, I own two watches with that movement (the white birch and the wako clock tower anniversary limited edition) and both run about 15 seconds per day too fast (even after adjustment in Japan, didn't help).
So if you want accuracy or a watch you wear daily I recommend spring drive.
No lume doesn't matter, if it's completely dark you won't see the time on a mechanical watch either way anyway (+ any bright enough lume to read in the dark usually disappears after a few minutes or so) and the hands of grand seiko watches are so reflective that you can still read the time even when it's almost pitch black.
As for no micro adjustment, no big deal, the bracelets have half links and you can find the right size.
Very rarely did I ever need to go adjust my bracelets and once you own a few GS models you'll figure it out.
I love the greenish color but it is too thick for me. I like very thin and elegant face like this watch. I wish the thickness would be less than 8.00 mm with titanium case and band.

This is not a seiko and this is 5x the watch of a rolex . This is a bargain for what else is available in the same price range .
I ment grand seiko. I got 3 of them. One chronograph spring drive. The other hi beat and spring drive. But the prices nowdays going up crazy ridiculous.
I was reading that the bracelets are so bad because it's customary in Japan to wear your watch with the leather strap and not a metal one. Still no excuse, but I understand the cultural influence.
Then why sell the watch with a bracelet . Makes zero sense . Either make solid bracelets or don’t .
Im Japanese and never ever heard of this. Nautilus and the Royal Oak are insanely popular as well....Not to mention Rolex...

Dont buy a grand seiko if it has no micro adjustment. Trust me. So beautiful watch, great brecelet. However does not fit your wrist. That is not a huge thing to worry but why seiko doesnt care about this issue and fix this for its new models?
This is the only thing holding me back from buying a Grand Seiko.
GS has come up too high on thier pricing, take this watch as an example--this is $5-6000 watch. The one color they really haven't explored in dials is gold.

Nice case, dial and movement. But that bracelet is ugly and not suited to the watch. Looks a like a bracelet suited for a fat 45 mm case. I would expect at least some tapering for an elegant watch like this one
Grand Seiko bracelets are so bad
The E9 bracelets are so much better. As Tim Mosso puts it, "It used to be a glaring con of the watch especially when compared to rolex, now it's closed the gap enough to the point where I just don't care anymore". Yes, it's not perfect and does not exactly match the competition, but it is executed to a level mostly befitting of it's price now.

Eye-catching dial and amazing quality, but no bells and whistles for design. Then,
once someone notices, there’s still the subtle, awkward burden of explaining why you’re wearing a ‘Seiko’ to the uninitiated. IMO, the reality is that when Seiko enters the conversation, many find it challenging to shake their ‘80s’ mass production history. The name is ubiquitous with quality, but looses major ground on exclusivity. Great collector’s find at a 60% off retail. But struggles in the clout-value retention department - unlike brands like Rolex, IWC, Patek, etc. Rolex comes to mind when celebrating life milestones; not Seiko unfortunately.
Frankly GS is becoming the master of boring, the lack of design innovation is showing a significant lack of vision to take the brand to the next level to match the great execution.

They have The best variety in the watchmaking business- many styles of case designs, many metals to choose from, they make every movement in existence and all are higher quality in every aspect than it's Swiss counterpart , Grand seiko is boring??? They're hands down the most fascinating watch brand on the planet in the last 5 years and probably the only manufacturer that actually innovates..Movements, case shapes , materials and most importantly they never use some stupid Celebrity characters who doesn't give a shit about watchmaking just to market their watches on billboards.. They're an amazing brand with probably the best value proposition in the business!! It's always amazing to me how hard it is to be a watch manufacturer..trying to satisfy so many people with the strangest opinions 😂

Beautiful, and they didn't rip off a previous dial pattern for a change. Just please, PLEASE, PLEEEASE GS -- don't screw up the significance of this limited edition of 1000 by bringing out knock off patterned watches the way you did to the original Lake Suwa.
