So.... I think you, Bob and Jimmy should make a skeeball machine. Just a thought. Jimmy could make the balls, Bob the electronic mechanisms and you can build the frame and structure. Or.. you could just do all of it but damn it, someone needs to make a skeeball machine!
I don't usually even comment on these things, never get any type of reply because they're so busy. But man it would be a great build. I thought of Bob's Plinko build a while back and a skee ball would be epic.
Breaking down barriers, making cool stuff, and having fun. That's why I'm here too. Too many gems in this one to call them all out. Let's just say I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. And though you were disparaging of the great Bon Jovi, you did play a clip there, so respect for that. I'm totally feeling it. The guitar clip during the laser cutting, Grandma would be so proud. Thanks for sharing!
Now that those kits come in stereo, that has been on my list to do. Definitely reminds me of an amp head. Looks good! I have now heard Jimmy's baby voice, now yours. We needs Bob's for the trifecta!!
I let that mindset stop me from trying so many things. Thinking I have to be an expert before I even just be a beginner. What eureka moment for me. Thanks Dave!
I love the point in the beginning about just diving in and enjoying the craft, without setting barriers that have to be overcome before the enjoyment, or the learning, can be allowed to take place. I remember as a very young child, just learning to speak, and how I felt when I'd gotten all my vocabulary and grammar down, and that one special day when I'd learned enough verb conjugation to begin actually making sounds with my mou.... Hold it, none of that happened! I just spoke, and _then_ learned all those other things years later! Just like your point about making stuff!
You and Wody Design dropped Rockler speaker projects on the same day. I dig it. It reminds me of an old console TV/A.M. radio/record player I inherited from my grandparents.
Thank you for say that about the science behind making a bluetooth speaker. I have been killing myself trying to learn everything under the sun about speaker combinations.
Its so easy to get lost in projects and find that something that started as a fun thing has turned into a chore because you’re trying to become a “specialist” in something rather than just make the damn thing and have fun. Then see if that finished project maybe inspires you to delve deeper, if not, who cares you got a new thing and had fun. Win Win in my book! Truly loving your channel and videos. Thanks again from the UK and stay safe and of course, “Keep making things!” :oD
I kinda like the logo being off to the left, it adds a sense of motion or moving forward across the front of the speaker as if your logo was a car doing a wheelie and zooming with the music
Another awesome video guys! Maybe you boys making some more speakers with all that grille cloth? Eh eh eh 😉🤓 that’d be sweet. ESP with Dan being into speakers. Maybe studio monitors or just some good garage/shop speakers ?! Bigger than the rockler setup. Anyway keep it up dudes!
Wow the final iteration is very Fender ampish looking. Very cool. Your analality is humorous yet once you shift past your recovery results are spectacular. Trust your instincts always.
Thanks for the talk in the beginning, I don't know how many times I've let that limit me on the projects I take on. Only get better by doing it and stepping out of comfort zone. Thanks Dave!
This slipped by in my feed somehow, but I went back to it now after listening to Making it. Pure joy to watch, and I feel inspired to.... wait for it... make something!!
Dave i’ve been watching you for a few years now and I think this is my favorite thing you’ve made so far! As an 18 year old maker you are so inspiring to watch! Always look forward to your videos :)
Dave I’d watch you design and build pretty much whatever, have for years. You never have to apologize for just shooting from the hip. Everything is an experiment and ... can we just have some fun?!
Please keep the random guitar rift as part of the soundtrack to your channel! It was awesome!! Love that you took the time to explain what you liked and didn't like,.. then what you did about it. Love seeing the try it out and revise process.
this is a great project and video. it's perfectly ok to just dive in. your first project doesn't need custom crossovers, correct volume, ports. sometimes it just needs to be ok.
You know I didn't even notice the off center logo, but since you pointed it out... This is a great video to show how we design and experiment and change.
I had fun, did you have fun? I had fun. Really cool looking speaker box, the logo and handle set it off beautifully also refinishing was the right thing to do. 👍
I gotta say, at first i kinda skipped past this video...no particular reason, but then after hearing you talk about it on the podcast i came back and searched for it, watched it, and enjoyed it, haha! Nice work! I've been wanting to build one of those too. Maybe i'll have time this year (famous last words, lol) 👊🏻
Thank you for this video this is what making stuff is all about. Having fun, using what you have available to you, and making cool stuff. Do more baby voice.
Man, really nice job! The intro, the transitions, the just enough "big picture talk" to get people to chill and enjoy. This was great and the final product looks sweet even though that wasn't the main point. Good good stuff.
So true about the science and enclosures. I have wanted to make a box for my truck but have always stop myself. There’s just too much information on the Internet lol
Your videos have always been pretty awesome, but ever since you’ve taken on this experimental trend, they’ve taken on new life. I really love it. And you should absolutely put that quote on something, but attribute it to Grandma.
I made some passive speakers in the past. A good source I found for the wood, at a reasonable cost is fret board wood, or wood sold for the side of a acoustic guitar. The wood can be bought in nice spices and grain patterns from a luthier supply place.
I 100% agree with everything you said, sometimes ignorance is bliss because if you don't know the rules you aren't restricted. Also don't become to invested in what other people are doing or feel the need to compare. I say all of this while watching your video for inspiration 😂😂.
This may be one of my favorite videos and projects yet! I love the idea of just getting in there and designing on the fly and I love the final aesthetics of the speaker!
So.... I think you, Bob and Jimmy should make a skeeball machine. Just a thought. Jimmy could make the balls, Bob the electronic mechanisms and you can build the frame and structure. Or.. you could just do all of it but damn it, someone needs to make a skeeball machine!
I love this idea! I would love to see the Making It boyz collaborate on something ridiculous. Well, other than the podcast.
I don't usually even comment on these things, never get any type of reply because they're so busy. But man it would be a great build. I thought of Bob's Plinko build a while back and a skee ball would be epic.
The bevel cut into the spline is mint.
That's what I was thinking.

The guitar playing in this is amazing. Another fun project. Thanks for your work David.

I let that mindset stop me from trying so many things. Thinking I have to be an expert before I even just be a beginner. What eureka moment for me. Thanks Dave!
I had fun watching you have fun! 👍🏼
I didnt even notice the logo wasn't centered. I think it all looks dope! Reminds me of a guitar head. I'm really loving it. 👍

"Can we just have fun?" One of your lines that made us fall in love with your channel in the first place. Great build and video, David.
You and Wody Design dropped Rockler speaker projects on the same day. I dig it. It reminds me of an old console TV/A.M. radio/record player I inherited from my grandparents.
"We're gonna throw all of that out the window"...along with Cameraman Dan's Soul! LOL
Thank you for say that about the science behind making a bluetooth speaker. I have been killing myself trying to learn everything under the sun about speaker combinations.
The colors, veneer pattern, and logo remind me of skateboard designs in the 90’s.. not sure why, but I dig it!
I like the part when Diresta shows up at 9:30.
That logo and that finish makes it look amazing man. I am impressed. Very boujee !
Jerry knows what’s going on... I hope he leads more of your choices!
Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing!

the way that chamfer on the front ends at the splines is so satisfying, gives the vibes of those metal corner bits on guitar amps and its way cool
I kinda like the logo being off to the left, it adds a sense of motion or moving forward across the front of the speaker as if your logo was a car doing a wheelie and zooming with the music
Love the choice of the gold, Dave. Gives it a Mid-Century modern vibe.
Dude. Awesome video! The laid back nature of the project paired with the crazy cool camera shots made it really enjoyable. Nicely done sir.
*The skill that some people have just absolutely amazes me*
My new motto is: Have fun and throw science out the door!! Great fun project!!
"We're going to ignore all of that." Perfect. :D
Oh we’ve got plans for that grill cloth! Hold tight!
Make Something 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Woah... that intro with the spinning speaker was awesome.
"Lie, Cheat and Steal, like Grandma used to say" - love it welcome to 2020 🤣😆
One of the best, yet! LOVE the chamfered front and leather handle!
Those splines make it look like it has old school case corners. 👌🏼
Had fun watching you have fun with the project! ...also liked the potshots at the haters.
Wow the final iteration is very Fender ampish looking. Very cool. Your analality is humorous yet once you shift past your recovery results are spectacular. Trust your instincts always.
Nice. Looks super retro , might give one a whirl. Thanks mate 🇦🇺
Loved this episode! Really looked like you were having fun which can be contagious
This video was so good for so many reasons. Tinkering should always be encouraged, and I loved the result.
Thanks for the talk in the beginning, I don't know how many times I've let that limit me on the projects I take on. Only get better by doing it and stepping out of comfort zone. Thanks Dave!

Thank you!
Agreed. It turned around in the end. Looks great!
that intro with the spinning zoom just melted me 😍🤩

Throwback...Dave just wants to have fun!!!
"If you wondering it's bothering me that the logo on the front is not perfectly center? More. Than. You. Will ever. Know or. Understand."
David as always a great “free the mind” video. Thanks!
this is a great project and video. it's perfectly ok to just dive in. your first project doesn't need custom crossovers, correct volume, ports. sometimes it just needs to be ok.
Great gift idea!!!! Awesome project.........love the Troll voice 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
That grill logo is top notch!
You know I didn't even notice the off center logo, but since you pointed it out...
This is a great video to show how we design and experiment and change.
I had fun, did you have fun? I had fun.
Really cool looking speaker box, the logo and handle set it off beautifully also refinishing was the right thing to do. 👍
Great example of how a simple chamfer can improve the look of something. I think that little detail gives this an awesome lookt!! Nice job David!
Wife and kids were staring at me for a solid minute. “Jerry knows”. Sup Dave.
👍 I loved how it turned out. I have enjoyed listening to the podcast before watching the video to get a better understanding of your thought process.
Dude, this is personally one of my favorite things you have ever made.
Glad to see those guitar lessons are paying off for you! Thanks for this. It looks like a lot of fun and something I think I’m going to try. Cheers!
unfortunately I stoped taking guitar lessons back in 94
I love this!
And using a cheap belt as a handle… brilliant!
Good choices were made. Love the finished product!
Cool build! Would love to see some of Dan's speaker builds as I build speakers too.
Thank you for this video this is what making stuff is all about. Having fun, using what you have available to you, and making cool stuff. Do more baby voice.
That's super cool and retro looking
David that speaker turned out very cool keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work make on my friend
i love the ethos of this video! and the speaker came out great!
Love the gold against walnut🔥
Dan is awesome, you should give him a raise. Maybe let him make a speaker set and you video him.
Man, really nice job! The intro, the transitions, the just enough "big picture talk" to get people to chill and enjoy. This was great and the final product looks sweet even though that wasn't the main point. Good good stuff.
Awesome project David! Your next project should be a boombox made out of some nice hardwoods. Keep it up!
So true about the science and enclosures. I have wanted to make a box for my truck but have always stop myself. There’s just too much information on the Internet lol
Love it! Also...totally done the Goodwill belt thing for some of my own projects in the past ha ha
So glad you decided to refinish that veneer. It looks awesome now. I wish I could make one, but I don't have a laser cutter. Also, sweet racing shirt!
I've got a couple of extra laser cutters in the scrap pile. I'll send you one.
No thanks, then I couldn't complain anymore!
love the mini half/stack head look!
*Nice! Very nice video! Thanks for the show!!!*
Your videos have always been pretty awesome, but ever since you’ve taken on this experimental trend, they’ve taken on new life. I really love it. And you should absolutely put that quote on something, but attribute it to Grandma.
I love that it looks like a head!
I made some passive speakers in the past. A good source I found for the wood, at a reasonable cost is fret board wood, or wood sold for the side of a acoustic guitar.
The wood can be bought in nice spices and grain patterns from a luthier supply place.
It's awesome David, great job! 😃👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Love the style and attitude in this one!
It's all fun until it's not centred...
Love the project and the backing track. The chamfer exposing the splines looks great as well.
I 100% agree with everything you said, sometimes ignorance is bliss because if you don't know the rules you aren't restricted. Also don't become to invested in what other people are doing or feel the need to compare. I say all of this while watching your video for inspiration 😂😂.
Mini Bluetooth amp looking speaker turned out nice.
I hope you use that every time Dan is in the shop.
Ha!
Enjoyed the flow and philosophy!
Awesome job on the speaker.
What a lovely video and a great looking retro speaker! I love it!
Can you just please release a single of your jamming track already?! The people can’t wait who-knows-how-long for a full album!
Thanks for the mention. I felt like you were talking directly to me. -Jerry
Sup Jerry!
Dude that’s beautiful. I love the chamfer on the line with the splines. Great color, fun project
I enjoyed this video a LOT.. well done David.
Everybody take a shot everytime David says "we're just gonna have fun"
I can't feel my face
This absolutely made me smile. Better yet, it made me want to make something.
🙂
Love you kart logo on the shirt!
I really dig the splines in the chamfer!
The handle is awesome!
Why did you say it was off center?!? I never would of noticed! It’s now all I notice! Love the speaker!
This is beautiful! Love the design, the fun, and the music. Great work
Love the splines revealed by the bevel on the front ! Looks amazing !
(also loved the baby voice interlude ^^)
Dude, it turned out awesome!
This may be one of my favorite videos and projects yet! I love the idea of just getting in there and designing on the fly and I love the final aesthetics of the speaker!
7:25 Make Something Laser Time song > William Osman Laser Time song 😆
Nice project. Thanks for letting us have fun through you.
Seems like Dave is wound up a little tight when he’s having fun.
