Windows phones, software wise, really ahead of their time. Much better than any android phone of that era without any lagging at all and dope cameras. An actual competitor of Apple, but the lack of developer support and Nokia's slow reactions to catch up with the mobile indrustry made them disappear
@@philippov_yaroslav so you're agreeing with what he said. Microsoft wasn't ready due to their crappy appstore. As far as device wise they could have upgraded at anytime. iPhone isnt the same phone every year. 4g? That's called device upgrade. EVERY phone does that. Not just Apple.
Microsoft store wasn't the problem, the problem was Microsoft's approach. The system was very young so not many app developers made an entry yet (at that time) and that did hold the sales down as not just games or other entertainment grade apps were missing but also some social services, bank apps or other more work related apps. Microsoft needed to keep the system alive against the odds longer so more developers would believe it's worth spending resources to develop apps for Windows Phone. However Microsoft didn't do so and so a good system with actual potential died..
My first proper phone was a Lumia 620, then I got a 530 which was my first phone I paid for and then I had the awesome 1020 in yellow. Nowadays I got a quite large collection of lumias.

Imho the windows phones where perfect. Fastest OS I've ever had in my hands. Unfortunately it was to late for the market, it was sad to see it go away.
These phones should really make a comeback! The only reason people hated it was because the app store did not have their typical social media apps. But the phone could probably save us from social media AND be good quality at the same time. Plus the UI is very simple!
