Great and thorough review! I have only played the first introductory scenario solo, but I can see how the text walls on the AI cards can really slow the game down once it starts to scale up further on with more monsters and cards in play.
I love dungeon crawlers. Our group played through Gloomhaven twice and are half way through Middara. I ordered this because I found it and a couple expansions for sale. Your video helped me decide to pick it up for our group. Thanks for the thorough and in depth review. This should tide us over until Frosthaven is released (assuming it ever is)
I really enjoyed Immortal Souls but it was such a brain burner. I liked the tiles, the unique characters and the way dice allow you to do more than just roll numbers. I didn’t like how I felt like I finally wiped the enemies and more would spawn before I could even advance. I am still waiting for Ancient Chronicles though.
A complete novice here, last dungeon crawler board game i played was back in the 80s, Dungeon quest it was called, oh so simple to learn and fun to play, especially solo, i loved it. I wish Games workshop would reprint that, Great vid dude, very informative👍
Thanks for the review.. I love Sword and Sorcery but it is heavy no doubt about it, though so much clever stuff happens due to this I think it well worthwhile. Of course when it comes to Middara I'm kinda biased so that's amazing too, but I feel they are different enough to play both they bring different things to the table, Middara is about the journey, it is tactical and fun, but S&S is about those combat puzzles and pulling off the amazing combos and clever activations sequences.. Both are great however.
I wish you showed more of the gameplay and board pieces
Could you create a review of the second wave content?
Btw, great, honest review

Glad to be hear your getting some good quality play in - those games are truely fantastic. Can't wait to see what Frosthaven brings us ❄️
Very good reveiw. Folklore the affliction is a game in the same "range" i will say. Its a bit moore open but its good too. Keep up the good work.

I think I have a very banged up 🔥 incomplete 🔥 2nd hand 🔥 copy of that somewhere at my folk's place 😂 Amazing! Thanks for watching, Mr. Toastrack.
They have multiple editions of it. I think they may be on the 4th edition but it is very likely out of print again.
