  • One of my favorite pieces of music, this lovely aria comes from Purcell's 1689 opera "Dido and Aeneas". My discovery of this work was from buying a collection of Purcell works for trombone and piano for 25 cents at a music store's clearance table when I was in college. In playing it for the first time with my mom accompanying on organ, we both instantly commented on how beautiful it was! I have made this arrangement for trombone and organ as part of my 2024 Suite, setting it in a key more friendly to the younger trombonist. I have also taken the 'ground bass' and moved it to the soprano voice on occasion, for musical variety. This is the second movement of this suite, with the first being recorded here:

If you like the work, it can be downloaded instantly at SheetMusicPlus, along with the other parts of the suite, with all three movements available separately (and soon in one complete suite):

    Thanks for listening!
