Come, Ye Thankful People, Come (St. George's Windsor), organ work by Phil Lehenbauer
The 1856 hymn tune "St. George's Windsor" was written by George Elvey, organist at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle for 47 years. This tune is most often known as "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come", and used many times at Thanksgiving services. This was written and recorded at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The exterior pics of this beautiful chapel are from my visits to Windsor, while the interior pics are from Wikipedia, since cameras are not allowed inside. But I strongly suggest a visit, not only to see it but to hear the marvelous choir and organ inside! One other note, this is my first composition using the Dorico program, after using Finale for...

Rondo Maestoso, organ work by Carson Cooman, played by Phil Lehenbauer
Просмотров 22428 дней назад
This organ work by Carson Cooman was composed in 2022 as a dedication to Philip Hartmann, marking the addition of a new tuba stop to the Link-Gaida organ in the Pauluskirche, Ulm, Germany. I really enjoy the creative harmonic language throughout the work, though I played it faster than intended to make up for the dry acoustic and the lack of a triumphant tuba stop. I hope Carson forgives me! Ca...
Interlude on "St. Columba" (The King of Love My Shepherd Is), organ work by Phil Lehenbauer
Просмотров 195Месяц назад
The lovely Irish melody "St. Columba" is known to most as "The king of love my shepherd is", using Psalm 23 as its basis. In 2019 I composed this arrangement, but decided recently to add a few small revisions. The new version has replaced the old in SheetMusicPlus, and I'm thinking that those who ordered it can just download the new version. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll send you t...
Postliudas Pinkevicius (to Vidas Pinkevicius), original organ work by Phil Lehenbauer
Просмотров 281Месяц назад
This original work is intended to be a rhythmic, energetic postlude, and I have dedicated it to Lithuanian organist Vidas Pinkevicius www.youtube.com/@SecretsofOrganPlaying. Before most people knew who I was, he was kind enough to perform a series of online recitals featuring my works, and for that I'll be eternally indebted. You can hear those recitals here: ruclips.net/video/qJnnrqb4CHs/видео...

Children of the Heavenly Father (Tryggare Kan Ingen Vara), organ work by Phil Lehenbauer
Просмотров 243Месяц назад
This gentle hymn, set to the Swedish (or maybe German) tune of "Tryggare Kan Ingen Vara", is most often known as "Children of the Heavenly Father". This setting was composed at the suggestion of my sister, so hopefully she will use it sometime. Lol. It could serve as a peaceful prelude or offertory, and was written and recorded at the Allen organ at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church in Fort...

This is the third piece in a series of works written for the 'new' organist, whether it be a young person getting started or an older, less experienced organist. This "March in D Major" could serve as a postlude or prelude, and can be performed in a variety of tempos. I'm thrilled that it has already been performed by two students of @JF.MusicStudio , with the world premiere given by Hannah Rib...
Jubilant Psalm, original organ work for manuals by Phil Lehenbauer

This joyful organ work is an original composition for manuals, playable on one manual or more, if desired. In this recording, I have used two manuals and just a touch of pedals near the end, which can be added for extra variety. This piece could be used as a lively prelude or a festive postlude, and was recorded on the Allen organ at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church in Fort Lauderdale, Flo...
Prelude on HYFRYDOL, new organ work by Phil Lehenbauer

The 1830 hymn tune Hyfrydol is well-known around the world, and by a huge variety of texts. For this reason, I wrote this work that can work with a variety of settings. The first recording here shows it in a louder, more festive setting, while the second recording is done more slowly and much softer. 00:00 Faster, louder 02:50 Slower, softer So, it could work as a prelude, offertory, postlude, ...
Abide, O Dearest Jesus (CHRISTUS, DER IST MEIN LEBEN), organ work by Phil Lehenbauer

I wrote this work in honor of my Aunt Alma's recent 101st birthday, as "Abide, O Dearest Jesus" is one of her favorite hymns, and was sung at her wedding. There are 101 notes in the introduction to celebrate this occasion, and 102 notes in the final section in hopes for many blessings during her 102nd year here on earth! I then included two verses of the hymn on this video so that she could sin...
A Quiet Prayer, original organ work by Phil Lehenbauer

I hope this peaceful, original organ work can bring a moment of calm to your day. All of my pieces are written at the organ with pencil and paper, and they go through many transformations before they end up in print. This work began life as a trumpet tune, but kept altering its way into this meditative setting, and I hope you like it. It was written and recorded at the Allen organ at Shepherd o...

One of my favorite pieces of music, this lovely aria comes from Purcell's 1689 opera "Dido and Aeneas". My discovery of this work was from buying a collection of Purcell works for trombone and piano for 25 cents at a music store's clearance table when I was in college. In playing it for the first time with my mom accompanying on organ, we both instantly commented on how beautiful it was! I have...
