This song gives off a feeling of something indescribable. (I’ll give it a shot) a lot of people say that they wanted an explosive transition, but the way it just fades away into the dreary feeling of being alone in your room on a hot day with the windows open, it’s just perfect to me. It’s a feeling of being aware, not zoning out, but doing absolutely nothing with consciousness. Beautiful.
I second this, this slowly becomes my favourite song from the album, especially after hearing it live and watching the KEXP session. I just love how it is so angsty yet so controlled at the same time. Also have that feel of random bout of anger/anxiety/sadness that normally happens when you are alone/bored and overthinking about whatever happened in your life. And then slowly fizzes out when you realise nothing really matters ( in both bad and good ways ) so you just gotta accept whatever these bad things in your life ( which could also be sth very menial and superficial ) and try to calmly vibe along with how absurd life is sometimes.
The warm in the summer section, OH MY GOD the way it slowly gets faster, louder and more angry, it's such a perfect moment. Diving into these lyrics are going to be very interesting to, I'm very excited to put all the pieces together on my re-listens.
this song is the distilled feeling of my stay in juvenile detention as a teenager. it was only about two weeks, but it felt like forever. the feeling that the world has simply forgotten you. i felt as though i could've dropped dead and the guards wouldve continued their routine checks like clockwork for the rest of eternity, never even noticing.
Well, a documentary filmmaker passes by on the hospital ward And a documentary filmmaker poses for a photo And a documentary filmmaker goes home at the end of the day But I'll sit and watch the seasons change 'Cause it was warm in the summer Warm in the summer Warm in the summer Warm in the summer But snowy in February Snowy in February Snowy in February Snowy in February The sweat dripped off my plastic sheets Oh, the sweat dripped down onto my knees It was warm in the summer Warm in the summer Warm in the summer Warm in the summer Oh, oh Because the eggs, they're cheaper The day after Easter And the eggs, they're always cheaper The day after Easter And I know, oh, I know It must be hard to pass 'em by And I know, oh, I know He's filming all of the time
I wanna love this album, but I feel like when most songs are starting to get real fuckin good (like this one) it shifts into a direction that I just don’t find satisfying. I keep coming back to it though, so there must be something there.
i share that sentiment, this track and a couple others made me anticipate some sort of explosive payoff, but halfway through it just kinda fizzles out to some electronic ambience. still a very cool album, but i can empathize with some of the tracks having a lot of great buildup only to end with me asking "that's it?"
@@braydengeorg Kinda feel like in a way that's what they're going for. This is from my own point of veiw, but i see the album being mostly about the sruggles of a boring every day life. Music fits the theme in my head.
@@RealBonoI fully concur, specially with this track. The way the track goes is very clearly designed to represent the horror of standing by doing nothing.
This band is tight, but the singer tends to slip into this exact replica Doug Walker voice and it really throws me off until I forget about it again. Good song tho. It just sounds like the Nostalgia Critic sometimes.

2:20 - Came for the post-punk, stayed for the BARSSSS
Well, a documentary filmmaker passes by on the hospital ward
And a documentary filmmaker poses for a photo
And a documentary filmmaker goes home at the end of the day
But I'll sit and watch the seasons change
'Cause it was warm in the summer
Warm in the summer
Warm in the summer
Warm in the summer
But snowy in February
Snowy in February
Snowy in February
Snowy in February
The sweat dripped off my plastic sheets
Oh, the sweat dripped down onto my knees
It was warm in the summer
Warm in the summer
Warm in the summer
Warm in the summer
Oh, oh
Because the eggs, they're cheaper
The day after Easter
And the eggs, they're always cheaper
The day after Easter
And I know, oh, I know
It must be hard to pass 'em by
And I know, oh, I know
He's filming all of the time
An amalgamation of The Fall, Talking Heads, Pixies and Modest Mouse, yet still wonderfully unique. Brilliant.
It was warm in the summer indeed
Today I learned that indeed, the eggs are always cheaper the day after Easter
WHAT AN EARGASM
Love the rhythms in this one
Song of the year. Oh my lord
This reminds me of Larks Tongue era King Crimson mixed with Discipline era

@@RealBono This is one of my favorite songs on the album. If every song followed the build up - payoff formula it would get old much quicker.

SnOwY iN fEbRuArY
I fucking love it
I'm getting Mark Mothersbaugh vibes, and I like it.
The eggs were not cheaper the day after the Easter 🙅 ❌

Good song tho. It just sounds like the Nostalgia Critic sometimes.
And sometimes Eddie Murphy too
