As a Finnish person what I love the most about this country is that nobody is left behind. Yes, we have our heavy-drinkers, homeless people and so on, but still the goverment takes care, healthcare is universal and people help those in trouble. I think it's because the low amount of Finnish people - we think that everyone is important for the country :D
Yeah, even if their situations still aren't ideal we feel a responsibility to at least try to help them. You couldn't imagine people in Finland ending up in the kind of conditions as some people for example in the US do, just falling out of the system for good and being forgotten.
American Finn here. I feel to be this way but thats not how it goes in u.s. eh? They'd/us/we rather debait how they got that way, how they " deserve" it. Blah blah blah. Always blah blah blah. i love the scene in " A man Without A Country" were the guy runs electricity to the others shipping container/ home. he say's " What do i owe you " the other says " nothing. If you ever see me face down in gutter, roll me over "
I've been thinking about our social security network quite a lot recently. It's obviously the best method for caring about the less fortunate and is essential to well being as a nation, but when you keep seeing people who abuse the system, like people who openly brag about never going to work because they can live by with the benefits, or drug users who harass others and are a general nuisance, who are still getting the same benefits that people that genuinely can't work or are sick etc., it really starts pissing you off. I'm 26 and I've lived basically my whole adult life on benefits due to mental health issues preventing me from being able to work, and my whole family has always been poor, and for the past 10-15 live off of benefits, and these people that abuse the system should really be punished for it. Their benefits taken away and forcing them into doing something, or having housing complexes just for people like them who refuse to ever contribute to society, or as with drug users, are just useless breathers who will never amount to anything. Social security is definitely the best and humane system, but it should really punish those that take advantage of it. Currently, there's many people arrogantly abusing it, and then bragging about it. Take off their benefits at once. Fucking gipsies are a great example. Most of them are criminals, have never done honest work in their lifes, and then dare to act arrogantly and despising us Finns who actually PAY their living. They're driving with their new cars every week, and yet still leeching off of the social security system. Nothing pisses me off more than gipsy leeches who hate finns.
It feels weird hearing someone from another country say "I love you Finland". Even I, a finn, only LIKE Finland, but you LOVE it. You are a weird adorable man, Tyler Walton.
Sleepi Owli I am a Canadian transplant from Quebec I have lived in Tampere for ten years. I love it here there is no pressure people don't brag or feel like they have to be better than others. I don't miss Canada except for my family.
We're very proud of our country and weirdly patriotic at times. The worst thing that could happen to us all collectively as a nation is if the rest of the world found out about our fuck ups and judged us for them before we could fix them. I guess we're kind of vain in a way. :D
We just don't use word "love" so easily. You love your partner, family, maybe even some friends. But unliving things...nope...we don't love them. We might like a lot, but not love. :)
Sleepi Owli i am from Indonesia and used to live in Finland for a year. I know it is weird to say 'I love Finland' but I can't help but loving and missing Finland very much
Finland is a great place, but I hate it. I can never get over the shitty ass weather around here. Its like the one thing, I hate cold, and I hate rain. Finland has abundance of that. Even after all the good things about Finland, you know, probably being the best place to live in really, I still can't get over the damn awful weather around here. I would much rather live in a shithole like Spain or Turkey or something, just because they have nicer, sunnier and warmer weather more often... It's sad in a way really.
I was in Finland for three months and I couldn't agree more. The finns are so nice, so calm and don't judge anyone. Its the best country to be yourself. nice videos 😉
I really love Finland for two reasons: the nature and how good things are here. There's always things that could be better but in general everything is good. And as a girl I'm so happy to be Finnish since Finland is one of the best countries to be a girl and I agree. And education is good. Plus I also like the mentalitet and sisu. :D
I lived in Finland for 5 months, and I totally fell in love with this country an its people. They might look cold and stone faced at first glance, but its kinda delusional, all Finns were very friendly, hospitable and friendly with me. When I see Finns at my home town of Tallinn, I greet them with "moika" :D
I think Finnish people mostly worry about what foreigners think about us. Like it's ok if my neighbor for some reason thinks I'm a total psycho and unpleasant besides (it's an example, I get along with my neighbors fine lol) but omg an Estonian woman calls Finnish women ugly and it's a national emergency. :D
Finns like their own space and we don't do small talk but if someone needs help, we help even with language barrier etc, we stick together, I also love that about my country 🇫🇮❤
Leaving Finland in a few weeks after 4 months spent here studying, would have loved to experience the summer but hey, too bad. Your vlog is awesome, it's summing up everything I love about the country, nature and people ! Keep on posting mate
I'm spending the semester here in Finland for my exchange. I've been watching your videos since and they are entertaining. Visiting Helsinki next week!
So awesome to hear that somebody loves Finland and I goddamn love your videos because 1. Your videos are about Finland 2. You don't act over dramaticly but you still funny in a weird way. 😄 And I know a lot of finnish people say they hate Finland but my advice for everybody is that things are so much better in Finland than in many other countries.
It's nice to watch these "reasons why I love Finland" videos, couse I used to thinking that Finland is weird and boring place. But theses videos open my eyes and now I'm proud of my country. I moved to Helsinki three years ago. And I love that how many people here is kinda settler. Moved here, had a new start in this vibrant city. Almost all my friends come from a smaller towns like me, or from other country! And I likes tram sounds too!
This was so nice post. You are so natural. True things are, that Finnish people are very different. There are very funny and not so funny people.Difficulties are that you have to work to find all things about... I wish for You all the Best!!
Tyler, I related to everything you said. And I've never been there. It's just the feeling i get from having met Finns abroad. Plus, I lived in Prague, and loved the tram. Just soooo much better than buses without a dedicated lane. But this is awesome. You're basically confirming everything i suspected was awesome about finland and the culture. Thanks!
Keep up the good honest vlog Tyler! I have no idea if you have visited different parts of Finland but I think you should. In my opinion people are quite different in various parts of Finland. For instance people in the eastern parts of Finland are considered to be the most talkative.
I totally relate to the sound of trams in Helsinki! And other people too. It's very rarely talked about but anyone who has lived in the areas where the tram goes knows what you are talking about. Also, I feel even more warmth from the sound of the OLD trams. It's a bit sad how the sounds of the trams changed when they upgraded them, though I am very glad how spacious and accessible the new trams are Nice video!
I thought i was the only one who enjoyed the tram sounds! I leave my apartment window open to listen to the tram, its so comforting! Also I never feel unsafe in Helsinki, no matter where ive gone or what time of night, ive never felt like i was going to be robbed or anything. One thing i dont enjoy though is everyone stares, just walking down the street people just stare you down and i always think i have something on may face
What I learned on vacation in Norway last year was: there is no bad or cold weather you're only wearing the wrong clothes. When I was watching the aurora borealis in Finnish Lapland earlier this year I didn't feel cold because I was dressed appropriately though it was about -15°C. Gear is everything.
I once forgot my phone in the park and remembered it when i got back to town! I was like ''omg where is my phone??'' and 2 minutes later some boys walk to me and ask ''is this yours?'' and i got my phone back :D ps. i am finnish human being ;D

I actually find it interesting that you feel like you can be more yourself here in Finland than in USA. I lived in USA for a year and I just felt like I could do whatever without people judging me. When I moved back home to Finland I felt like I had to put myself back into the "box". But maybe it is easier to be yourself when you are in a foreign country since no one has any expectations about you so you can just be yourself. And if someone thinks you are weird you can just play the "well I am foreign" -card lol. I have enjoyed your vlogs very much, keep up the good work! :)
yatou14 I was think the same thing. I'm American, lived 14 years in Finland, and loved it, too. I moved to Sweden 2 years ago and I still miss Finland a lot. In both countries I can be myself without feeling judged because I'm already aware that I'm different anyway.
Question for your Q&A: if you could take only feature from Finnish education system and take it to the U.S. what would it be? Free school lunch? Free education from pre-school to the university level? Quality? Practicality? Amount of homeworks? I recently heard that Finnish children get much less homeworks then for example children in the U.S. I like your videos a lot and Im glad you have discovered the easy and relaxed Finnish way of life. If someone has a bad day it is ok to say it. Maybe other people then can help you to cheer up and make your day better 👍
Damn i'm gonna miss your vlogs... and THOSE seagulls in the end, ah can't wait for summer! I know this channel is mainly about being in Finland and stuff, but will you keep doing videos in the future, when you're somewhere else?
My q: was there some kind of highlight moment during your time here in Finland? Like what was THE BEST experience? .....if there was any :D Oh and I really gotta say you're definitely my favorite vlogger
For the Q&A: Are there things that you have grown to like over your time in Finland? Like Finnish things, obviously. For example, did you feel awkward about going to sauna a year ago and nowadays actually enjoy it without any awkwardness?
From what I've seen in videos I think I'd really like Finland, EXCEPT for the cold. I don't do cold, no way no how! So I guess Finland is out for me. At least for long-term. Is it ever warm there? How warm does it get in the summer?
Hi I live in Santa Monica, California and I love your videos! When you spoke about summer in Finland on this Vlog, I felt inspired to bring my family there this summer, HOWEVER! I really want to see the Northern Lights. We don't have a huge budget for travel, so what is your opinion for a family in California... Summer Vacation in Finland or Winter Vacation in Finland?
Have you had any complicated problems with Finnish bureaucracy while you've been here? Also, what do you think of the rules all apartment buildings have? I've been living abroad and I've found out that Finland seems to be just about the only country that has them.
Question for your Q&A: if you could take only one feature from Finnish education system and take it to the U.S. what would it be? Free school lunch? Free education from pre-school to the university level? Quality? Practicality? Amount of homeworks? Most Finnish people worry too much about what the others think about them :)
i do not worry what others think about me, i just want to know what they think about me and if they think i am weird it is just positive thing !
I do not either!
I think Finnish people mostly worry about what foreigners think about us. Thank you Tyler for loving Finland.
Well, I'm glad you like it here. Rock on, and may the logic be with you.
I love the sound of the trams and trains! I live right next to a train station and I find the sound really soothing
I'll be visiting soon! Watching this makes me sad I'm not already there. 😊 Thanks for posting

very impressed the first time I heard about the sound of metro: like a formula-E car

Q: What were you teaching?
Keep making videos! I love hear about Finland.
favourite thing about this video: Tyler's love for trees
the setback: he didn't say the word "FIBER"
here's my Q for the next Q&A session: what are your current plans after leaving Finland? I assume you'll be too busy to make vlogs when you're moving / settling in at the new place but I really hope more videos will be made after that!
Its so Fun To Year When someone Says I Like Finland.
Yes to all of this
Here's a couple of ideas for videos: sauna and coffee (not together, but as separate subjects). They are both just words, but the possibilities for depth are endless.
Even if you don't use these subjects, I hope you make some videos about Finland while you're still here. But no worries. You can always come back.
just wanted to tell you that i really enjoy watching your videos :)
I love these videos about Finland!
rudesmurf m saving money To visit thé Helsinki, i wanna try hesburger 😀
Fun vlog! For the Q&A, I would like to know what your dream job would be?
lol being a finnish gal living in the US. i agree with the self consciousness. Here in the US im constantly being targeted to be careless because frankly i dont care what other people think of my way of style and who i am. Its pretty sad tbh that the folk here cant keep their noses out of other peoples lives. Would be nice if they could just live and let live. to be chill xD
As a Finn, it's too warm for me right now. I want the winter to continue until May :D then summer can come and we can skip spring.
Love your channel!
This video made my day, thanks! :)
Actually most of anything else, bike theft is really common :D I have some friends whose bikes have been stolen three times, and my girlfriend's bike was stolen from bike storage. For some unknown reason that's a thing
Yeah, there's like a spot near the local infamous bar that's basically "Leave a bike, take a bike." I have to admit I have stolen a bike(~12 years ago), but I looked up one that had clearly been stolen many times before. Broken lock, spray painted black etc.
maccsguitar yep, my "Jopo stylish" bike was stolen from where I left it, next to my school. like thanks a LOT.
Really depends on where you live. If you live outside of a city, people here just leave their bikes on their front yard unlocked. I've never heard that any of my friends would've got their bike stolen
I've had 3 bikes stolen from me (one from bike storage) in Turku where I'm from, but never happened in Helsinki since I moved there. Go Stadi! (Yeah yah, I do know it happens in Helsinki too. When you see a guy from Jakomäki selling 15 Jopos on Tori.fi you can kind of deduce where those came from...)
Bike-thefts are ridiculous around here. I once left my bike outside to get something from my home only to find out that my bike has been stolen in about 2 minutes
Bloody hell.. you're vlogging very close to my home in this very video. Cool material dude, keep it coming.
Yes. I feel the Trams. it means you are in Helsinki, Turku and Tampere(comimming now), Viipuri had these.
Just 3.02 and i am in love with your channel. So honest and real.love from india😊
The sound of the tram is one of the best sounds in the world. We had to move back from Viikki to Pikku-Huopalahti, because the sound was missing.
Dont worry Tyler. Summer is almost here :)
Yes, sound of the trams!!
I almost never lock my car doors and sometimes even just leave it running when im going away for few minutes and dont have to worry about it at all.
Already one year? Time goes so fast! :D
Everyone in Finland is special because anyone who can understand Finnish is special. :)
i totally relate to that tram experience :D I love the sound of them and it makes me feel like home when I return back to the city :)
Finland is amazing. I've visited in summer and winter and I'd move there.
kitos palia, sinulla on hyva perse!
Trams are coming to Tampere too in a few years.
I like the sound of the trams!!
Haha, you're hilarious. I love it!
Need to move to Finland ASAP!!

It's actually true that you can just leave it there for a while. Even when you lose something, it's likely to have been put on lost-and-found.
Living in Suomi sounds so awesome 🇫🇮

Thank you Tyler for your awesome comments. Have a great spring again!
Finland sounds amazing from Turkey ❤️
You are so nice dude!! From Finland loveeee
0:48 summer? Best day of the year
Your dance moves are very cool! Did you learn to dance or that's your natural talent?
My q: was there some kind of highlight moment during your time here in Finland? Like what was THE BEST experience? .....if there was any :D Oh and I really gotta say you're definitely my favorite vlogger
Thanks :)
4:29 True. I am calm.
I kind of like the sound of trams too!
With what device are you filming your videos?
In Finland Do you interact with everyone speaking Finnish or English?
One thing I love about Finland is that you're here. 👌
You started your RUclips channel on my birthday!!
You are welcome to Finland
I recommend to visit Kemi because that Midnight Sun for whole summer
Everybody in Helsinki loves trams :) Not just the sound. They are really sympathetic.
Nice to hear someone likes my country I personally don't get those comments from others.
I love finland too. Maybe I will one day move to it.
I recently heard that Finnish children get much less homeworks then for example children in the U.S. I like your videos a lot, and I am glad that you have discovered the easy and relaxed Finnish way of life. If someone has a bad day it is ok to say it. Maybe other people then can help you to cheer up and make your day better 👍
america you have to pay for it, australia you bring your own food but there is food you can buy
t:onnikala Pidätkö ilmasta kouluruokaa itsestäänselvyytenä? Ruotsilla, Suomella, Virolla ja Tsekeillä on ilmanen kouluruoka.
It has to be said: There is no free lunch. The pupil does not pay for it first hand but it does cost.
