Us humble Finnish people who are secretly obsessed over knowing what foreigners think of us are very pleased right now hahah thank you for the video, it makes me miss Finland so much.
I've been living in Finland for 8 years and every time I visit Barcelona for Christmas people feel compelled to ask me what it is that I like so much about this country, expecting me to give them a super exciting answer. I always tell them: the fresh air and the tap water. To me, these are two basic things that every single human being should have access to, but more often than not that is not the case. So I really appreciate having my breathing and drinking needs covered. I also love to open the windows when it rains. I live next to a forest and I like letting the humid-forest-infused-air into my home :) On that note, I've realized finns don't really like to air their apartment, but that's just my impression. Maybe you could do a poll asking people from around the world about their apartment airing rutines.
I'm telling my boyfriend about this comment I just wrote, and he mentioned that what he likes about Finland is the fact that doors open well. He's a finn, for what it's worth.
Tània Sierra A couple of things I've missed abroad: Central heating, proper showers and an extra shower head next to the toilet seat :) The winters in UK & Ireland were a shock to me, the humid cold that sneaked in and the hot water always run out.. I do like to air my apartment, especially because it tends to get too warm inside in the summer, aircon is not our strength...
Hmm... I'm a Finn and I air my apartment every day, even in the winter. And during summer I practically keep my windows open 24/7. I have always thought many finns do this bc there is so many apartments without ac's (Because of the cold climate).
Have You ever heard of a Game called FINNISH BASEBALL ? It is made after seeing a Boston Red Sox Game - written everything down ! Thanks to Computers - The Game is seen on RUclips ! Many NEVER SEEN - in 100 years ! Helsinki Olympics 1940 - 1952 Everybody wanted the Games to START - for 12 years !
Super strange but when you said you are back here in Finland. You sounded so happy about it so I became so happy for you I almost cried 😅 happy tears 😭
The combination of Finland being like 70% trees, dry climate, lack of cars and pollution and surrounded by the ocean, actually does make the air taste better and it feels a lot better to breathe it. I used to live in China and whenever I returned to Finland it was like a party for my lungs.
Finns need positive foreigners like you to remind what's good about Finland, Finns LOVE to focus on the negative things :P When Finns heard Finland was the happiest nation according to the UN Happiness Report 2018 many were outraged: NO we want to stay gloomy! :) Good news, it's getting sunny again in Helsinki later next week..
osubeavers 503 It is our fault ;) Seriously speaking it's more like a way of talking, you don't even notice it yourself. It mostly comes from the old Lutheran Protestant culture where a devote, humble Lutheran was expected to hide his happiness and riches. Showing wealth is still easily seen kind of embarrassing in Finland, my colleague immigrated from Russia doesn't get that at all :P
I'm a Finn struggling to find reasons to stay in Finland but finding your videos really helped me to see things I often take for granted, so I thank you for giving me a new perspective of this country !
LOL I am Finnish and this is why I love my country, too. Most Finns take this stuff for granted but years abroad have helped me notice and appreciate these things.
I never truly appriciated the air quality in Finland before I went to Italy! Or more so when I arrived back in Helsinki-Vantaa airport on a nice, cold November evenin! I LOVE the smell of winter, and the noice from walking on the snow💕
Thank alot Tyler for making us fall in love with Finland again just by your talks about Finland it's always good to see you talk about Finland I love Finland thank you for this video
Just landed back in Texas from visiting Finland for the first time. So excited to come across your videos. I am so in love with Finland now. I plan to go back yearly now! Looking forward to watching more of your videos on the country.
You put it perfectly about how wonderful it feels when you get back there! I’ve been trying to make sure I visit every year for the last 10 years from Austin Texas! My heart is there. You are so in love with the same things I love, so weird to hear someone say the same things I tell my friends about finland with such passion.😄
I love the architecture in Helsinki, too. Especially Ullanlinna, Punavuori, Töölö and Kallio! I couldn't think of living anywhere else in Finland, even though I do like many other parts of the country as well. Ps. Have a great mid-summer!
Love these city centers and public transport you can bump into friends. Nice to see Grandmas and Grandpas, children walking around and having fun. Grocery stores at the mall. Would never see anything like this in Texas. Always in a car and no city center.
Welcome back man we missed you! It’s great to have at least one American fall in love with Finland haha. Would loove to meet you one day though, you should definitely do a little meet and greet during the summer, I’m sure a lot of people would love to talk to you! Keep up the good vids! 👍🏽
In US, the water from the treatment plan is really clean and drinkable, better filtered than bottled water because it has a stricter standard than bottled water (strangely) but it's going through the pipes to your place and I had hard water where I lived in California because of the old pipes.
Instagram story brought me here 👀 "I should've plan this" oh Tyler we love your randomness!!! About the water here in the US, I live in St. Louis, our water is considered very clean because our faucet is usually from the Mississippi and it was extremely muddy so they filtered it like crazy. Clean, sure, but also taste very heavily in chlorine lol
kappeli kapeli I'm definitely a minority here haha. Funny thing is, I wasn't even looking for anything Finnish yet somehow Tyler's vlogs were recommended to me 2 years ago, and now I'm here lol
Thank you Tyler for all the nice things you say about Finland. Helsinki is really a beautiful city. I have been there only twice even and I´m finnish, but I live in Sweden. I really wish to live in Finland and even more now when I haveen you video. I´m so happy that you Love Finland and Helsinki. Finland needs positive foreigners like you.
Welcome back to Finland! I subscribed your channel last night and it's already one of my favorites. I think your videos are interesting, funny and you have the most beautiful eyes. Keep making these videos and move back to Finland XD
It's a shame you can't see many buildings outside the few majorish cities in Finland. Most of the nice and old wooden buildings were demolished elsewhere by the 70's. Only in some old railway stations you can still see that old architecture. Only few decades ago you could see these kind of nice buildings around: www.geocities.ws/jukka_lankinen/korpil50luku.jpg
Ah ha! So it was YOU who brought this weather to Finland! ;D Good job! Cause I like this cooler and rainy weather after too hot may and early june! :D I think you might have caught "Finland infection" and now you have to stay here because there is probably no cure invented for that ;) Anyway. welcome back! And I hope you'll enjoy your stay and have awesome time :)
Just found your channel and I'm totally loving it. Really nice to hear how a foreigner sees things in Helsinki and Finland. A good reminder to appreciate my home town. Thank you Tyler for your videos, and I really hope you enjoy your stay once again. Nice to have you back!
For a looooong ass time I've just checked in on your channel for new videos from time to time but now since you're back in Finland again, I guess you've got yourself a new subscriber. Welcome back!
The air is so nice here! I was in Australia for six months, and felt like i couldnt breathe !! (Also have asthma lol) And now that you're back in Finland you should do a meet up ! Maybe picnic if its good weather or drinks, I'd come 😁
Sun videoita on tosi kiva kattoo tälleen suomalaisena xD toivottavasti ymmärrät mitä tähän kirjoitin ku en oo kattonu paljoo sun videoita ja en tiiä osaatko puhuu Suomee mut tykkää tästä kommentista tai jotai jos ymmärsit tän
Hi Tyler! I love your videos, they make me wanna go to Finnland more than ever >< (and I'm getting depressed because I don't know when will that ever happen)
WaskiSquirrel Cycling is the other thing where you can see cultural differences. For some reason the Northern Europe, especially Holland, Denmark, Finland are cycling friendly and the southern Europe not so much, you would think it's the other way around. In Finland you can see stubborn guys cycling through the snowstorm :)
Go to Särkänniemen or Linnanmäki it’s a theme park And i like that you like Finland (Btw coud you check out Espoo it’s a city really close Helsinki and i live there)
Honestly, you are so cute! I really love watching your videos about Finland as I’ve always had an interest traveling there. I kinda always had a soft spot for all Nordic countries and hope that I could live in a Scandinavian country at some point. Great video! 🙌❣️
Not to diss Helsinki and I'm sure it has it perks and you know it you love it blah blah, but most other places in Finland outside of the Circle 3, (Kehä 3) think Helsinki as a separate thing, a different thing, than the rest of Finland xdd. It may sound weird but it so south that it doesn't even get that real cold that Finland is associated with, it's the capital so it's more "tourist friendly", and just in general not the most fond of places in other parts of the country. Come to Tampere, now this is *the* city to be in! (obviously I'm biased since I live here but still)
kappeli kapeli I have friends who live there, and it's mildly colder than here, but as a City, not for me tbh, and I don't like the cold, it's just that people go to Helsinki in january and are like "it's not even that cold in Finland!"
Part of the moomie mug thing is that at onr point when they stopped making them the price of some of the moomey mugs was really high. Especially the ones with an infinity symbol (like an vertical 8) were worth hundreds! And when they started making them again everybody bouht them. Me and my friend made like 200 euros with our moomey mugs when we were like 9 or so.
I love Finland and Finnish climate, but you haven't experienced humidity until you've experienced continuous +30 degrees weather in Finland :') I like your new haircut!
Hyvin valittu Tyler ! No en ihmettele. Suomi is number One world. Lastentarha 1, lääketiede -hospital 1.opiskelu 1.ympäristö,luonto 1, tas-arvo, suvaitsevaisuus 1, joukkoliikenne, rakennukset 1. etc.Kaikki on laatua joka asiassa. This is you dreamland. Eli, olet toteuttanut amerikkalaisen unelman elämäsi vuoksi. Wellcome
Go around Finland! Go to other places than Helsinki, too, please! I know it's the capital city but it's not the center of the universe. I know it can be nice and convenient but it's only one place in a vast country. I know it's what you love and what you'll always want to discover more and more but the majority of the people in the country are not resided there, altho it is a big concentration of peoples... But just for a change, please, go see other places too. They're usually equally as awesome
And (in comparison to Germany) you have constant temperature. Not like here in Munich where you sometimes have 8 degrees in the morning, 35 degrees midday and 18 degrees in the afternoon...
Im broud to be finnish and good to hear that you like Finland👍 Yläpeukut sille! :) But worst thing to be finnish is summer, even +10 degrees are too hot for me :( so im winter peoples
Oh you're in Finland? Cool! I'd kinda love to meet you in person if that was possible, it would at least be difficult to arrange. Anyway, welcome to Finland, love it when people actually want to come here!
Oh, how pleasant suprise to hear that you're back in Finland!! Did you have any particular reason to come here.. other than love for the country?? :D Any plans to see more of the country and other cities in Finland? Anyway liking your vids, keep them coming! :)
My town is not pedestrian friendly lol. If you want to cross a road you need to take a risk and run for it because cars won't yield. And even when it looks like they're yielding they sometimes just literally run you over when you're halfway crossing the street. That's what happened to my friend. I don't want to imagine how bad it could in America.
Of course there are many better countries than Finland in that respect, but if you think Finland is bad, it means you haven't much travelled abroad (or have chosen your destinations very carefully). There are countries where traffic lights are little more than decorations and you can't count on even the police to pay any heed to them. Maybe Finland isn't great, but it's at least decent enough and most drivers try to honour the laws. Not all, but most.
When you made the video "How to drink Finnish beer" I thought you broke and you were tired of Finland. In the last vlogs when you were there, such impression was created. But now you are at home and talking about Finland well.
If i had to pick only one thing i could get guaranteed in a country, society or nation and all others would be maybes or perhapses that you maybe would have or not. Then i would pick public safety, as that is the basis for everything else. Without that, it really doesnt matter that much whether you have the other stuff and things.
US cities are built for cars especially like LA and Houston in the west. European cities are smaller in scale and has less people. I do think US should plan future city for walking and cycling so we don't have to drive and pollute so much.
I really enjoy these vlogs, where foreign people explain their experiences and opinions on Finns and Finland - so thank you for your out put Tyler. So - is Helsinki the only city you’ve been in Finland? As it is ”all concrete” and ”cold” for my liking... I live in Hämeenlinna, which is sooooo different. Everything’s like in slow-mode here, compared to Helsinki, but beautiful. Hope you get the opportunity to visit other cities too and tell us your opinions on them. Thank You for sharing your thoughts.
Us humble Finnish people who are secretly obsessed over knowing what foreigners think of us are very pleased right now hahah thank you for the video, it makes me miss Finland so much.
Oona Tukia "secretly"
Haha that's me 😂
Omg thats so me.
This comment right here! I've just spent couple days binging videos of foreigners telling what they like and dislike about Finland 😂
Finland is like a secret little club that only the few (cool ones) know about. I'm glad Tyler is one of the people in our little club
Please add me 🙏🏼 🤣😄

As far as I've seen, most people tend to air out their apartments/houses here in Finland. At least just about everyone I know do so.
Hmm... I'm a Finn and I air my apartment every day, even in the winter. And during summer I practically keep my windows open 24/7. I have always thought many finns do this bc there is so many apartments without ac's (Because of the cold climate).
I Air My apartment / tuulettaa ? - or what IS IT ?
I’ve never been to Finland, but it is on the top of my list of countries to visit!

77% forest, 10% lakes and rivers, 9% farmland and 4% constructed land to be specific. The air is cleaner than anywhere else in the western world.
I have seen a car i promise I am not lying.
What? Lack of cars.
There are a lot of cars in Finland.

mikrokupu I met some Finns and I noticed that also, they really focus on the negative. I guess it's cultural and not their fault.

Oletko vainoharhainen?
Would be cool if you met Dave Cad and share your love for finland x)
Yes :D please make this happen

Ah ha! So it was YOU who brought this weather to Finland! ;D Good job! Cause I like this cooler and rainy weather after too hot may and early june! :D

You’re the first American I hear pronouncing Helsinki correct 😊 Nice to hear you thoughts on our country, hope you’ll be able to visit again 😊
I just noticed you actually live here right now? Great 😃
Great video Tyler! Really sad the weather _just_ changed when you came..! It was so perfect for a straight month!

And now that you're back in Finland you should do a meet up ! Maybe picnic if its good weather or drinks, I'd come 😁
True, Finland has one of cleanest air anywhere in the world. The air is clear and pure. And it's been actually studied, it's proven.
So are water and food.
I love Helsinki Facades! Best Instagram account ever! 🤩

Hi Tyler! I love your videos, they make me wanna go to Finnland more than ever >< (and I'm getting depressed because I don't know when will that ever happen)
You are on point, you have discovered Finland in it's truest form!
You had me at "pedestrian friendly." People here think it's strange that I walk everywhere. And no, even this small town is not pedestrian friendly.
WaskiSquirrel Cycling is the other thing where you can see cultural differences. Good video, had to watch to end. I own one moome mugs. From that came to my mind take gift to American cousin.

Hahaha it feels good to breath!!🤗
Heyyy nice to have you back here in Finland🤗 btw have you ever been to Oulu? If not you should come here some time (I live near Oulu)😜

Bike Tracks everywhere
I LOVE Finland too & I think it's true love too 😄 And I'm from Germany by the way 🙂
It's a kids paradise here, get on bus, scooter, bike, go to mall with friends, BUY CANDY!
When you made the video "How to drink Finnish beer" I thought you broke and you were tired of Finland. In the last vlogs when you were there, such impression was created. But now you are at home and talking about Finland well.
Cool! Enjoy your time here. :)
so it's not just the immigrant children in the U.S., also natives are imprisoned..

Are you gonna have a meet up in Finland?
If i had to pick only one thing i could get guaranteed in a country, society or nation and all others would be maybes or perhapses that you maybe would have or not. Then i would pick public safety, as that is the basis for everything else. Without that, it really doesnt matter that much whether you have the other stuff and things.
Onks tääl ketää suomalaisii?!!!
US cities are built for cars especially like LA and Houston in the west. European cities are smaller in scale and has less people. I do think US should plan future city for walking and cycling so we don't have to drive and pollute so much.
5:12 Yes the water can taste irony or like it has a taste of metal in it, but it's nowhere near unhealthy or dangerous
The researches tell Finland has got The cleanest water.
Jee
How about pricing and speed of internet connections at home and/or your mobile, if you think differences between US and Finland?
