  • I always come away inspired when I have a long chat with my good friend, Glenda. Today we discuss how certain choices determine what kind of person one will become. As conversations have a tendency of doing, we soon stepped out into other topics that very likely will get some heat in the comment section. (such as gentle parenting and validating feelings).

I just love it when you have Glenda as your guest. I don’t have children, and I’m not married, and yet, her testimony is so relatable even to me. Plus she’s fun to listen to, and when you interview her, you become like a different person too- more animated and you seem to laugh more and look more relaxed. I love seeing you this way..I think Glenda should be a regular! On a side note, she briefly mentioned someone’s mom-in-law who had dementia, and about how happy she was. My mom had dementia, and I cared for her for 6 years. It wasn’t always sunshine and roses (she was a very stubborn German woman), but as she went deeper into her dementia, it was almost like she became a happier person. Maybe because her inhibitions were lessened? I don’t know, but I can tell you, that we had more happy, funny times during those years, than I ever remembered from my younger years, and like that woman Glenda mentioned, it was a joy to take care of her.

It's so wonderful to have Glenda as your guest. She has had a lot that she was facing and had to make a life for her and the kids. And God was waiting for her to tell people how to let God guide her to were she is at now. Beautiful soul and such a strong single mom with children and learning that she is strong and let God lead her without bitter or animosity, but with joy and not afraid to ask God for help. She realized in her lowest point in life she needed help and God was waiting for her to call on Him. And praise God she did. I love watching both of you God fearing loving kind women. ❤❤❤❤ Have a Blessed Christmas.🙏🙏🙏🙏

I have 2 parents who are in their early and mid-70's. They unfortunately have had a lot of health problems in the last 10 years. There is no joy in that home. It is incredibly difficult to even go visit them because the atmosphere is so dark. Yet these are not the parents I grew up with! Especially my Dad. He loved to crack jokes and laugh. Now he doesn't even smile hardly ever. Watching them I know that I do not want to be like them! So I've been working on myself to be joyful in all situations and be thankful regardless. I have a wonderful example in my mother-in-law who is in her late 70's and full of the joy of the Lord inspite of the hard life she has had. She's told me often I don't have to be like my mom. She chose not to be like hers.

Disrespecting parents by talking like this about them in a public place wouldn’t help the situation, and won’t set you apart as being better. Being a blessing and support instead would. But that’s unthinkable in this me-mindset.

    • @rosannasauereisen2827
      @rosannasauereisen2827 6 месяцев назад

You don't know me at all and that is harsh judgement for someone you don't know. That makes me really sad. I am supporting my parents and respecting them by visiting them and helping them with their many needs. I guess it's wrong now not to be perfect and have struggles now and then. I'd rather be open and share the struggles I have so others know they aren't the only ones than pretend like I'm perfect and I never struggle. That isn't true for any of us.

@@rosannasauereisen2827maybe this is a western thing. Especially in the Middle East and even more so in Christian households it’s unheard of speaking about your own parents this way, let alone publicly. They brought you up and sacrificed much for you. Honour your father and mother. If you need help changing, look to Christ- with him, we loose sight of our self-centredness and are renewed in our minds, seeing the people in our lives with much different eyes. That includes all of us, we are all in need of this grace. Blessings to you

Found you by accident (think it was the Lord). I was a single mom quite like Glenda. My husband divorced me and my lawyer was disappointed when the fireworks he expected didn’t happen. Even the judge acted on my side! I made the choice to choose joy! It has become a habit but after years, I still make the choice daily. I had the rule about coming into my room after I went to bed. His friends will never forget the night they were too loud and woke up! I didn’t even grab my glasses or robe and walked into his room!

I also would consider myself a “gentle” parent; but I still say no… often! Lol. I do try to listen to their feelings (my mother is a narcissist, so for me this is important)… however, like your son my girls can manipulate and twist things to get their way. It’s a hard balance! I completely agree that we need to regulate our feelings- when my oldest is just having an emotional day (pre teen hormones!) I usually tell her to run a mile or two, then take a shower 😂 It helps me so hopefully it will help her when she is 15… I always thought of gentle parenting as not hitting or over the top screaming (maybe we can call the moms who don’t say “no” passive parenting 😂).
    Merry Christmas Ladies!!!

That way I don't have to fall into the because I said so, but they still get an answer.....the same answer, just not as seemingly harsh. P lease continue to do these videos seriously. I am a single Mennonite Mom I am in remission but i have stage 4 breast cancer since 2015. God has miraculously cured me and i give GOD so much GLORY! I have an 11 year old biy who has ADHD and ODD. He asked Jesus into his heart at 7 years old but struggles with anger, swearing, and disobedient almost all the time. Love this so much. I also help take care of my parents who are 78. I will look to be more grateful, try and manage my stress , anger, and improve my prayer life. Prayers would be appreciated as I try to change my additude patience, healing, and give my son prayers as well. I love hearing from the Holy Spirit.
    I love you two! ❤❤

Ah loved this. Perfect amount of humor and reality mixed in there. And thank you for touching base on some controversial subjects. So refreshing to listen to this side. I get so mixed up with parenting because of people in my circles, also with how i was raised (similar to you ladies). I worry for our generation too. With the world taking God out of the equation, morality is gone.
    Great video!!!

The world will not care about our feelings and we will be emotionally damaged all the time if we take every feeling captive and dwell on it. What a miserable life😢 I am realizing the older people did raise tough children. They didn’t let them dwell on petty little feelings. I heard someone say she teaches her kids family cares but the world does not care what you go through. There is so much truth to old says❤ Thanks for sharing☺️

Healthy unloading. Venting is unloading without accountability.
Healthy unloading is getting those words out but also wanting accountability and growth.

That makes sense to sing …look at all the psalms that the writer would praise the Lord at the end of his complaining

I know what it's like to have an angry 15 year old boy. It is so difficult sometimes, and he has developmental disabilities. However, I have taught my kids not to swear. I have had to use Tabasco to curb the kids' swearing. I just want my kids to know that I love them very much. I am not a gentle parent.
I was married a few months before my 25th birthday. I am 43 now, so I am an older parent. My oldest daughter will be an adult in two months. My youngest daughter, Alice, is turning six at Christmas.
Happy early Christmas, Jeannine! Blessings to you and your family this Christmas and New year.

I have a lot of respect for the fact that she finds a way to be honest about her struggles without complaining about the faults of her former husband. I love how she balances grace and honesty in all of these interviews. ❤

Much needed topic....biblical reaction to gentle parenting and all that entails. It's "killing" our children.😭😭

Yes it's a pretty large burden of mine. The term is absolutely correct, we need to be gentle and grace filled, but not on the way the method is teaching
