    Nice work Gordon.. watched a lot of videos on how to heal Rotator cuffs.. yours are most relevant, informative, logical and knowledgeable. It will be good to label your videos on a particular topic as 1,2,3.. (and intermediary as 1a, 1b etc) as that would help us to make progression and jump to the relevant content easily.. thank you for your time and help.

    Thanks for the video. Can I ask what the purpose of the towel is for?

    • @GordonPhysicalTherapy
      @GordonPhysicalTherapy  3 месяца назад

      You're welcome! The towel puts your shoulder in a more comfortable position, and it also reminds you to keep your arm close to your sound (so you can focus on rotational movement).

    Hi Gordon. I find your videos very helpful. I was injured at work. During the injury, I fell on my left shoulder. Wasn't having any issues with my shoulder before nor after the fall. It did hurt initially but went away shortly after. I had to get an upper spinal injection for pain in my neck and started experiencing excruciating pain in my left shoulder as soon as I received the injection and it has not gotten better...I'm going through physical therapy now and out of work due to weakness and constant pain. Temporary relief is icing and heat. My MRI showed mild tendonosis supraspinatus with a bone spur. The orthopedic doctor stated the bone spur is pressing on a nerve. My question is why didn't I feel this before receiving the upper epidural injection in my back? I'm left-handed which makes the pain worse. The pain is in my shoulder, neck, runs down my back along my shoulder blade, my upper arm, lower arm and in my fingers (middle, index and thumb). Along with the pain is weakness, tingling, pins and needles, stiffness, & swelling. I'm seeing a shoulder specialist soon. The weakness and pain is very irritating & I feel it as soon as I start using my arm for anything. I'm a little confused about how this all started and the fact that I can barely use my arm/hand for anything...thanks for taking the time to view this comment.

      I’m sorry to hear about your situation! Based on your symptoms, it sounds like your pain and weakness/tingling are coming from your neck, not your shoulder. Is anyone looking closely at or treating your neck? If not, I would try to get one of your doctors to look closely at your neck. Good luck!

    Thank you! Excellent. I thought though that the eccentric exercises should come before the concentric on the line of progression..Can you please clarify why it's not the case here?

    • @GordonPhysicalTherapy
      @GordonPhysicalTherapy  2 года назад +1

      You're welcome! I usually start with concentric strengthening first, just because it results in lower levels of muscle tension, and I'm usually working with people in pain (so I'm trying to be cautious). If you don't have any issues with pain, you can certainly start implementing eccentric strengthening right away. And you're right, for things like tendinosis, starting with eccentric strengthening can actually be the best course. You've challenged my thinking today!

    Hello. Thanks for your video. I have supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendinosis. It’s been on going for 3 years now. I’ve just recently started PT in the last month. It’s still very painful and I don’t feel the pain decreasing. How long does it take for the pain to subside and the shoulder heal?

    • @GordonPhysicalTherapy

      A little soreness can be normal, but you want to try to avoid too much soreness and pain, and definitely make sure you don't have pain while doing the exercises.

    Hey Gordon! I was diagnosed with mild supraspinatus tendinosis with no discrete tear as well as rotator interval scarring which can be seen in the clinical setting of adhesive capsulitis.
    I just binged watched your Shoulder Pain & Rotator Cuff playlist. I've rested for 6 months from the gym and I finally decided to give PT a try starting with isometric motions like you demonstrated.
    I have a huge question: google says NSAIDS like ibupurofen and naproxen slow down soft tissue healing.
    Would you recommend me not take those? My orthopedic told me to but he claims tendonitis and tendinosis are the same thing...

    • @GordonPhysicalTherapy
      @GordonPhysicalTherapy  2 года назад

      Hey there! Thanks for watching my videos and for your question! In general, I would recommend NOT taking NSAIDS unless you really need to, as they create inflammation in other parts of your body, most notably your stomach. That's just my personal opinion. Have you tried any natural anti-inflammatories, such as turmeric or circumin, or possibly CBD? Although tendinosis isn't really inflammation, these supplements might still be helpful. I hope that helps!

      what do u think about nsaids slowing down recovery for tendinosis? google says its bad

      Does icing after PT exercises help? I have had severe pain at evening the day i have had my first PT. After that i begin using ice pre PT exercises and it works too good. I have no pain and restored my full range of motion. Should i continue to ice for not more than 10 minutes? What do you say

    Hey Dr.Gordon, I just got an MRI done and it says i have supraspinatus tendinosis. Although i feel no pain at the moment while carrying out normal day activities but I did struggle while working out at the gym around 3-4 months back. Now i want to start working out again but thought of starting with ECCENTRIC exercises before that. My question to you is HOW MANY DAYS A WEEK SHOULD I DO ECCENTRIC REHAB EXERCISES? HOW MANY SETS AND REPS ?
    Thankyou your videos were a great help to me. The best i could find on RUclips.

    Quick question, would I feel tendinosis from the infrapinatus and supraspinatus traveling into my pec and from my neck into my trap/scapular area or do you think there is something else that could be going on as well?

    • @GordonPhysicalTherapy
      @GordonPhysicalTherapy  3 года назад +1

      That's probably a separate issues, although it could be related to the shoulder pain. In other words, the shoulder issue could be causing other muscular and/or nerve issues in your pec and neck/trap regions.
