- Half Life 2 in the perfect VR game and soon the AMAZING Half Life 2 Episode 1 VR mod will be available and free for everyone who owns Episode 1! It almost feels crazy to call this a VR mod when it feels as good as it does to play, runs so smoothly, looks gorgeous and includes a full suite of comfort options for players of all experience levels! The team behind the Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 1 VR mods have done incredible work here and I'm beyond excited to see what other projects they might tackle in the future... perhaps there is still hope for a proper Portal or Portal 2 VR mod yet!! This Half Life 2 Episode 1 VR mod gameplay was captured from an early access look at the release which is officially dropping on the 17th of March, the VR gameplay was captured using a Quest 2 PC VR connection and is representative of the game running at max settings on a 4090 VR system.
I'm sure that Half Life 2 VR will go down as one of the, if not THE, best VR mods of all time and Half Life 2 Episode 1 VR is continuing that trend in STYLE...

HL2 VR is legit good enough to have been released BEFORE Alyx, and none of us would had complained! HL2 is simply better than many other VR games (not all, but many). Our steam group has been chat area has been talking about it for a long time now. Glad to see a vid!

It helps that the Half-Life 2 series didn't have cutscenes, instead told the story through what the players sees on screen, this makes it incredibly immersive now that it's been ported to VR.

I’ve done finished a full Half-life 2 Vr mod playthrough. It truly was the best VR experience I’ve had so far. Looking forward to this one so much as feel there’s now a big void in my life…..

PCVR is in such a weird state these days. In terms of official releases its pretty much dead, but in terms of mods and actual games to play its never been better!
Finished HL2VR on hard mode over Christmas, one of the best games ever made in my opinion. I enjoyed it more than Alyx!
I can't imagine how scary it'd be to get caught in the gravity gun and fired up into the air. Also yeah, Portal 1 and 2 in VR would be absolutely incredible. I've kinda dreamt of such a thing since I played the Portal games way back when.
I want Left 4 dead 1 or 2 or both in VR.
HL2 and its episodes should be perfect for VR. The aesthetic of the Source engine holds up still, especially compared to many VR titles. Almost looks like real life sometimes. And it practically runs on a potato. And like you said, the character models are really good. Some of the best-looking facial animations of the time; it was like playing a movie back in 2004.
Some things just need to be tweaked for VR like the vehicles.
The baked lighting makes the game run very well on potato hardware. I remember playing it on a Geforce 7300LE 128MB lol

I am hoping more source engine games get the VR mod treatment after the HL2 Episodes are done. VTMB, Sin Episodes and L4D are all worthy of the effort.

God I can't wait. After having smashed my way through the main game I'm fucking pumped for the episodes.

For the Quest, you mean? We asked Valve, they said no. So it's unlikely to happen.

@@fholger that's ashame, seeing as Doom 3 worked so well, I'm surprised they wasn't interested, unless Nvidia lightspeed studios has some sort of exclusive rights for the Arm/android port of Half Life 2.
Either way my top game of 2022, loved playing it on Hard.

This looks seriously miles ahead of most modern VR titles we are getting. They just need some texture upgrades.

This is why i love PCVR so much...mods! So much potential for future release and upgrading current games. Playing games like American Truck Simulator and Cyberpunk in VR is something PSVR2 wont experience, and thats not me hating on PSVR2, its just pointing out a different advantage it has in offering more variety. If Praydogs UE mod releases in my life time it can only get better.
Team is working on hogwarts Legacy vr mod. Would be epic. I think most vr modders have done better things for the vr community then a big social media advertising marketing company we all know did the last 2 years. Also love prahdog's resident evil 2,3,7 and village vr mods. Deep deep respect!
@@michelverheijen6643 So true! I think the difference that i can see is that modders are more passionate about the 'VR experience' than most developers. There are also so many old favourites we would love to replay in proper VR...Silent Hill, Condemned 2, Outlast, Max Payne, Soma, Bioshock, Hunt Showdown, F.E.A.R, Far Cry 5...the list is endless.

Legit, Alyx is a fantastic game but Half life 2 is such a journey that I don't think valve will ever be able to beat again. I'd love for Black Mesa to get a VR port that game is soooooo good.

When I play with oculus link the quest 2 controller is connected to my virtual hand and I can’t get rid of it it is really annoying and unimmersive does anyone know how to fix it

I could only hope this would show the greedy game studios there is untapped wealth with all the old flat games that could be converted. For some games I for one would Pay good money for the chance to play in VR. It really does not take a lot of game studio resources to get it going. It make no sense what so ever. There is a big market waiting to be tapped. The original computer version of Superhot is one of many that I can think of. All the worries about running and gunning in VR should be put to rest by playing games such as this....

Afraid not, PCVR only. We did inquire about a possible future Quest port with Valve, but they told us no.
Yep seeing alyx in hl2 vr was the only time i was turned on in vr 😄😄
