My theory is that GLaDOS deleted Caroline’s true subconscious, giving her the rest she wanted for so long, while keeping the morals and lessons Caroline had given her in order to keep herself from completely falling back into her cold hearted ways without losing her sarcastic, outwardly rude appearance that makes her, well her. It would explain why she still enjoyed testing humans and seeing their fear while also feeling a motherly urge to care for the birds and to help Chell escape.

What made me feel for GLaDOS was the main menu when she’s a potato, singing in French in an attempt to keep her sane while she was slowly being eaten by birds. She sounds terrified during that scene.
@@gaminglulunightmare6092 Nope! That was Italian, not French. Hence, the name of that track is PotatOS' Lament. Also, I think that GLaDOS' scene is in fact some sort of glitch in her mind. Basically, she's singing because, having parts of her brain being pecked and damanged and her power source fading as it's being eaten, it's the only thing that she could muster as a cry of pain. It's akin to someone receiving a lobotomy and ending up with damaged speech/thinking functions I think. The potatos lament was actually in Latin, although the same voice actor (Ellen Mclain) later sings the turret opera (cara Mia addio) which is in Italian
There’s something really funny about how seriously toned this video generally is then suddenly “he put GlaDos into a potato making her into PotaDos” without breaking stride
So, it's kinda hinted that Caroline was forced to undergo the brain-mapping procedure. I'd say that her aggression wasn't entirely unjustified, and that the engineer's deaths are their own faults. Aperture's engineers and scientists had basically forced Caroline to undergo a drastically life-altering procedure and then _put her in charge of an entire facility full of dangerous and easily weaponizable equipment._ GLaDOS wasn't unstable, she was vengeful and high on a power trip.
@@infiniteplanes5775 By the time of Portal 2, she didn't have any accessible memories. But she did have repressed ones buried deep within. But there's a significant time skip between the events of Portal 2 and when Caroline first became GLaDOS, and electronic data storage methods are far from perfect for storing data THAT long. GLaDOS's purge of Aperture happened shortly after her initial activation. At the very least she would have remembered her emotional state during the brain mapping process, and the general idea of why.
I can see that, but I headcanon that, thanks in part to the trauma of the personality transfer, the fear and panic (and pain) of the transfer being the things that made it into GLaDOS (being what Caroline was feeling quite acutely at the time). Because of this, the result was a supercomputer with an instinctive loathing and desire to kill them painfully, to the point it was arguably a more dominant part of her base personality than her desire for science and passion for helping Aperture run. In hindsight, having a desire to kill as part of her base personality would explain why she’s so flippant at the idea of killing things.
@@TrinityCore60remember, Caroline herself wasn't a nice person, she let Cave do tests on homeless people and didnt seem to care about all those test subjects dying
@@adamH.1 Thats fair. But you’d think GLaDOS’s love of Testing would cover that; it’s basically a continuation of Aperture’s bread and butter approach to science (minus the “kill test subject at the end”, as opposed to just putting them back into Extended Relaxation). GLaDOS did not need to kill most of the staff and test the rest, but she did anyway.

A bit was left out, from some unused audio files, we hear Caroline was not willing to be uploaded, but they did anyway. Additionally, in Aperture Desk Job we see Cave Johnson really did make it into a machine.
No, _a_ Cave Johnson made it into a machine. PETI (PErpetual Testing Initiative) tells us of a multiverse with lots of apertures, each with a Cave Johnson.

@@Skyrionn Absolutely, for me to. Half-Life is a piece of fiction that inspired so much great things in my life. Really special. Portal is a part of that universe, and just icing on the cake.
I don’t think Glados actually deleted Caroline, and there are 2 bug reasons why: 1, if Caroline was really gone, Glados would’ve most certainly kept Chell locked up where she could testing her! Then again, Caroline would’ve also had her stay those in that instance it would be for companionship! Glados realized (thanks in part to Caroline) that Chell shouldn’t be locked up no matter how she felt about it! So she pretended to delete Caroline so Chell would leave without question! 2: if Caroline was really gone, then how come Glados was afraid of the dreaded bird? An AI shouldn’t be able to fell fear not matter how advanced she is, so that fact that she still felt fear meant that Caroline still had a hold on her! Then again, I could still be wrong about all that, I’m no expert in the lore!
The line "Maybe I'll stop feeling so bad" in "Want You Gone" being redacted in the lyrics makes this a very compelling argument. GLaDos still has morality despite the lack of a core and the most sensible way to explain that is via Caroline. Or just cuz she likes you now from all the old aperture adventures idk
people always say Chell is the daughter of Cave and Caroline but i think GLaDOS is the true daughter of them. GLaDOS is her own “person” she isn’t Caroline, that’s why she cuts off Caroline or deletes her. She isn’t Caroline, she has her memories and need for science yeah but her ambitions and her goals are her own. She’s the combination of Cave and Caroline. That’s just my interpretation, GLaDOS was turning into Cave and Caroline and that’s why she let Chell go I believe. Cause she isn’t Caroline nor Cave. She is GLaDOS
Not sure if this was said or mentioned already but I wonder how different things would have been if Cave lived long enough to be able to have his mind uploaded. Would make for an interesting what if/alternate timeline type story
I still like this theory someone made in the comments of an iceberg video, that GLaDOS baked the cake after Chell escaped the incinerator, just to spite her.
If there is gonna be a Portal 3 in the future it could link back to the idea that not all of Carolyn was deleted, deleting something from a hard drive only opens the space for it to be replaced by something else

One of my favorite things Valve ever did was the ARG around portal 2. I believe it ended with a surprise update to portal 1, which hadn't been updated for years, to modify the ending to show Chell being dragged back into the facility. Why do no other developers put as much care and love into their games as Valve? And why must Valve be so bad at actually releasing things? It makes me genuinely sad the stuff we missed out on because of that nearly decade long drought. Alyx and Desk Job show they've still got that in them, but man it makes me sad.
This was a triumph! I'm making a note here: Huge success! It's hard to overstate My satisfaction. Aperture Science: We do what we must Because we can For the good of all of us. Except the ones who are dead. But there's no sense crying Over every mistake. You just keep on trying 'Til you run out of cake. And the science gets done. And when you're dead I will be Still alive Still alive. Still alive.
My favourite "villain" type character of all the video games, especially in the Portal 2 where she actually gets to have a personality. Witty, cunning, sarcastic. That might sound like bad qualities, but it's what actually attracts me in other people. If I had a girlfriend who vibes and resonates well with me - she would have those personal qualities. This character is incredible :D
I think her "deleting" Caroline is showing that even if she in the story had a little growth she will never change, and it shows when she kills everyone in the human vault in a week. Also if you think about it chill didn't save a single person in the whole story besides herself
I think it makes perfectly sense that she doesnt save anyone (besides meeting a human would have ruined the games feeling). she was just a lab rat trapped in a vast, self-aware, shape-shifting, murderous facility. she was barely able to keep herself alive, despite having one of the most convinient and powerful weapons of all time. and in the end GLaDOS also took back that. her only chance to survive was to accept this once-in-a-lifetime moment of GLaDOS' mercy and leave immediately
I'd absolutely love to see one of these covering AEGIS from Portal Stories : Mel, but I've never been able to find any background on it other than what's covered in the game.
Something i always liked about portal is the incredible darkness of a lot of the story elements when you think about them for more than a minute, i kind of wish the sequel had kept the same dark tone.
Love your channel man, all the Half-Life and Portal videos are so informative! Portal 2 was the very first Valve game I ever played and it is what got me into Steam (via the free code I stole from my sister's PS3 copy lol). Since then I have loved all the Portal and Half-Life games, I love how they take place in the same universe and have such fantastic storytelling throughout. Thanks so much for making this video about GlaDOS!
Glad you enjoyed it! I agree, the stories told within this universe are incredible and I am happy to deep dive and tell their stories in my own way. I appreciate you watching the videos and supportining the channel. It means a lot!
There was a reality game show made a long time ago called Solitary. It had 9 contestants locked into solitary confinement whose only connection is through a computer named VAL. Val threw all sorts of tests at them until all but one were eliminated. The last person walked out with $50K. Val sounded very close to GLADOS.
I think it was the body of GLaDOS that was corrupting the attached main cores. When Wheatley was plugged in he corrupted very quickly and became evil. At the same time, when GLaDOS was converted into PotatOS, her lust for murder subsided and she discovered Caroline within herself and when she was attached again her evil nature come back. Perhaps the scientists did datamining and everything was alright and the problem was with the GLaDOS body, which they had not thought of.
Thanks for this. These are my favorite all-time games, and this fills out the backstory adding deeper involvement to the progression. I’ll forever remember the first time I saw the scrawls on the walls behind the panels, of how the cake could be such a motivator, but at some cost if you were not worthy…..
The complexity and immersiveness of the lore Portal&HL series always give me goosebumps along with tremendous excitement. Watching any narrative related to this is a pure enjoyment to me.
The air pressure on the moon is equal de 0.000000000000003atm and the air pressure on earth is 1atm. When she opened the portal on the moon it was like turning on a human-size vacuum cleaner since the difference in pressure created the suction in the moon's direction (through the portal of course). Me being kind of a nerd when this happened I had a nerdgasm. Attention to detail in these games are amazing
I've always considered GLaDOS in the first game to be way more intimidating than in the second, mainly because of how she writhes and thrashes instead of fluently turning.
Best GLaDOS quote (thanks to Ellen McClain's brilliant voice over) is: "oh. it's you." #2: "We both said things you're going to regret" Great video! As a huge fan of the games, i had figured out most of it through the Cave Johnson's automated recordings, but you're right, this was within the narrative to the game, and the full picture is never explored. You've have successfully filled in that blank. Thanks also to the STEAM community, who have kept this game alive (it's 16 years old!) with a flow of insanely entertaining levels.
Man, what a roller coaster this game was! I got it a month ago, when it came out on Switch. I heard about it and was curious, but I honestly thought it was just a game about solving puzzles. So the game turns on and I'm welcomed by this voice and I thought "ah, they put this here to give a little bit of atmosphere to the puzzles, nice!". I loved how it slowly turned from funny voice recording that makes dark jokes to android that's actually trying to kill me, and I wasn't surely expecting to be insulted during a boss fight. Then Portal 2 took it to the next level. I loved how throughout the game there hasn't been a single moment where I was able to trust her. Even until the very end, I thought she was going to kill me. Actually made me a bit sad when I had to go, I was getting kind of used to this symbiotic relationship where she makes tests, I complete them, but we also hate each other.
Remember when Wheatley was assuming control and GLaDOS reacts and almost pleads before she screams as she's disconnected? I suspect the scream wasn't so much a trauma from being disconnected so much as Caroline's memory of being forced into becoming an AI. Makes you wonder just how horrific that event was...
Fun fact, whrn you are in the chamber with GLaDOS before reactivation in portal 2. A great detail is that the facility is gaping open to the surface above The decrepit chamber.
Glados is but far my absolute favorite character. I've played through both games so may times and the second game like 40 times and I would be ecstatic to see another game with her in it. Also Excellent video👍
i'd always been under the impression half-life 1 and portal 1 ended around the same time, mainly because i struggle to believe aperture would not have been discovered in the twenty years between half-life 1 and 2 with how many different radio signals there are within the facility, and considering what a serious disruption to the proper functioning of the combine's teleport tech the portalgun probably would have been based on that assumption i'd assumed portal 2 is either around the time half-life 2 starts, or episode 2 ends
The final hours of portal 2 state that Portal 2 takes place 50000 years after the original. Also, it's more likely that half life 1 took place at the same time that GLaDOS flooded the facility with a deadly neurotoxin. Also Portal 1 takes place in 2010. and we know that Half Life 1 has to take place between 2000 to 2009, so it's impossible in the timeline for that to happen. We also know that Portal 1 takes place smack dab in the middle of Half-Life 1 and 2. Also the "Aperture would have had to be discovered", well that could've certainly happened but GLaDOS would have captured them for testing and/or straight up murder them. Or Aperture partnered with the combine so that the combine would have left them alone in exchange for Aperture's extremely advanced tech
I really hope if we do get half life 3, that somehow, some way Gordon and Alex get into a completely unwinnable situation and its Glados that saves them and helps them defeat the combine.. only to find themselves frozen and woken up some time in the future in a test chamber. lol.
Have you considered doing any videos on TF2 lore? I think you should, if only to complete the Orange Box trilogy. Plus, I'd really like to see how your quiet, melodic style would mix with the utter absurdity of the Team Fortress lore.
@@Skyrionn The history of the Mann family would probably give the best mileage, honestly. There's also Australium. As far as the mercenaries themselves go, Scout gets the majority of the lore development, though Engineer and his family are pretty important to the story. The most interesting character, in my opinion, is the Administrator, but information about her is pretty limited as she's meant to be enigmatic.
10:16 I may be a bit dense here, but how in the hell did scientists figure that putting an Anger Core into a murderous, uncontrolable A.I. will be a part of "Perfect combination"?
I got a small feeling that after the CMB invasion, soldiers took GLaDOS’s database and transferred her into the citadel to make her the Overwatch, tbh I have this feeling because both are IA systems.
I personally think they just got the technology from the GLaDOS system and then programmed a new AI. (Or already had one) Would explain the similar voice as thats probably a vocal synth attached to a speaker somewhere and is preprogrammed with a sorta baseline of GLaDOS's voice.
I still remember the final fight with Wheatley, when the realization hits that you have to shoot a portal at the MOON lol. I think it may have been one of the biggest holy shit moments I've had in gaming. I think a big part of that is because the idea that portals require surfaces coated in moon dust was like an incidental thing way back in the campaign, so you didn't really categorize that as important information at the time.
What if GLaDOS wasn’t ever crazy and Black Mesa hacked in to her to kill everyone at Aperture to remove competition. Maybe Black Mesa had a mole in Aperture and allowed Black Mesa to remotely control it. It would explain why GLaDOS acted way differently than Caroline acted. Maybe the personality cores jammed the signal and when the first core fell off it unjammed the signal and Black Mesa was able to control it again.
“Good news I found out what that thing you just incinerated did. It was a morality core they installed after I flooded the enrichment center with a deadly neurotoxin to make me stop flooding the enrichment center with a deadly neurotoxin.”
I know this is a year old but it wasnt Bring your Cat to work day where she killed everyone. It was Bring your Daughter to work day. We know this because of Wheatley saying "that did not end well" when looking at the banner. This shows that she intentionally waited for there to be as many people in the facility as possible before killing everyone
I hope beyond hope that the final HL somehow manages to bridge Aperture and Gordons timine into one cohesive game where the resistance weaponize Gladdos to assist in the fight against the Combine (for testing sake). Could just imagine her factories go into war mode and dispatch fleets of turrets and lemon powered lasers to 7 hour war the hell out of them.
Yo this is amazing. Didn't know I needed this in my life. I loved playing Portal 1 and 2. I might go rebuy them after watching this. Also didn't know it was set in the Half Life universe as i've never played them so might also get those
We've gotta remember that GLaDOS is extra awesome because during half-life, she was only partially aware of what had happened on the surface, and she knew Black Mesa had fucked up, but she was also aware of the aliens trying to break in and was able to defend Aperture.
Thanks for watching this video! If you enjoyed it, I'd really appreciate a comment, like or even a share!

Okay, but she apparently doesn’t remember who Caroline is
@@infiniteplanes5775
By the time of Portal 2, she didn't have any accessible memories.
I love how we at first viewed GLaDOS as a villain, but then through out portal 2 chapters 7-9, we started to view her as a friend. Even GLaDOS thought the same about you.
Love it!
So true
There is a theory that Caroline is chells mother
@@Lowqualitybird If that was true , wouldn't Chell be dead , it had been centuries and Chell would be dead while GLaDOS would be alive , like she said in the ending song of portal one...
This makes so much sense.......
@@markanthonypittaway1539 well she wouldn’t be dead because of the relaxation center she’s in and in the portal 2s song glados refers to her as her dear child in Italian
@@Lowqualitybird True but if it's been 50000 years , she had brain damage so being in a state of such controll and stress would/should cause a heart attack

That was the lie I was refering to haha
The ultimate, "if I can't have it, no one will" move
8:05 they definitely have audio files in the game showing that Caroline did not go willingly
Yes, but they were cut.
The way Glados says 'yes sir... mr... Johnson...' gives me chills every time, such good writing and voice acting
I can't remember word for word, but, "Regardless, Caroline supported Cave Johnson's eccentric decisions," immediately reminded me of the part where PotatOS says after the lemon rant, "HE SAYS WHAT WE'RE ALL THINKING!" 😂
Also, they're are far too many quotable lines from GLaDOS to have just one favorite line, but one of my favorites is where she says, "I think we can set aside our differences... for science... you monster." It's contradictory, and I love it! 😂
My personal fav is "We both said some things *you're* going to regret"
A bit was left out, from some unused audio files, we hear Caroline was not willing to be uploaded, but they did anyway.
Additionally, in Aperture Desk Job we see Cave Johnson really did make it into a machine.
No, _a_ Cave Johnson made it into a machine. PETI (PErpetual Testing Initiative) tells us of a multiverse with lots of apertures, each with a Cave Johnson.
Hi, on an alt here (and i refuse to mention my main here KEK) like what was said above, and wanted to add that I'm pretty sure Desk Job isn't canon to the main story, story az in the Portal & Portal 2 games' story(s)
@@BurningApple I think Cave Prime is a different Cave than the one from Portal 2's story. I forget if it's prime or another alternate dimension Cave, but one of them cancels the GLaDOS initiative after seeing how another Cave that DID make it into a computer turned out
Last time I checked I think Desk Job wasn't canon. More like an art piece and comedy piece in source 2
Also those are cut voice lines, not meant to be part of the end product, so I think the implied happening of it rather than it being explicitly stated is better
I really love GLaDOS as a villain and character.
She really was a brilliantly written character.
At this point she is less of a villian and more of a neutral character
@@bitbreaker_creator this is what people call "chaotic neutral" :D
When you mentioned that she was raising the baby birds as murderous monsters I exploded in laughter. I can just imagine her saying my sweet children go peck that human to death.
To be honest, in the portal 2 ending music, she says Carolyn is in there too, also the “maybe I’ll stop feeling so bad” makes me think she’s still there seeing is it’s redacted in the typed up report on screen.
It goes without saying. What masterpieces Portal and Half-Life games are.
They are ok. Decent.
It's just too bad Valve can't count to 3 😭 never will see a new full boar complete sequel entry to create the both of them as trilogies 🥺😢
@@joashrayfield Maybe Half-Life 3 + Portal 3 hybrid game, that combines all the games and their stories + expansions. That would be very cool, to get the expanded hl/portal universe like that and most of the answers to the story. Except for G-Man, i want his to remain a mystery. Maybe we will get the trilogy if Valve creates some new groundbreaking hardware for gameplay, they're big on these innovations in video gaming technologies. I have a few ideas myself about what i would like to see as some new controller systems for video games.
They are pretty much perfect games in my eyes. The story and lore and brilliant and so many memorable characters!
@@Skyrionn Absolutely, for me to. Half-Life is a piece of fiction that inspired so much great things in my life. Really special. Portal is a part of that universe, and just icing on the cake.
I don’t think Glados actually deleted Caroline, and there are 2 bug reasons why:
1, if Caroline was really gone, Glados would’ve most certainly kept Chell locked up where she could testing her!
Portal being explained as "Robot lies about cake." Is infuriating because it's accurate.
I really love Glados' character and also her voice. She sounds so good for asmr
YES THIS.
An actual good asmr youtuber?
"Murdering people with neurotoxin ASMR"
people always say Chell is the daughter of Cave and Caroline but i think GLaDOS is the true daughter of them.
"Exposure to the moon rocks made him gravely ill"
Dude, he put them in a blender and drank that shit like a smoothie. LOL
Not sure if this was said or mentioned already but I wonder how different things would have been if Cave lived long enough to be able to have his mind uploaded.
Would make for an interesting what if/alternate timeline type story
You're in luck. My latest video on the Multiverse explores different versions of Aperture.

Thanks my dude. A lot of time goes into them but telling the stories is so worth it. Thanks for watching.

@@JamesLorimor Portal 2 takes place way after the combine because Portal 1 is in the middle of the combine rule and they would already be there in Portal 2 if they were still on earth
The song at the end of portal 2, Cara Mia wasn’t brought up. The lyrics of the song seem to suggest Carolin is Chel’s mother but the song seems to be the only evidence to that theory. That and that the giant potato battery that has Chel’s name on it at the bring your daughter to work day bit. Gotta love those secret parent twists just like Spy and Scouts from tf2
The song during the credits confirms GLaDOS didn't delete Caroline, in that song she said Caroline is with her

Valve takes so long because they actually care about quality

Amazing job! I think it's impressive how they added so much depth to a puzzle game.
I wouldn't either. :/
Would you rather free everyone which would take a thousand years, or run away with the chance your “Friend” is giving you.
He's been added to this list. I literally now replaying the game again.
Something i always liked about portal is the incredible darkness of a lot of the story elements when you think about them for more than a minute, i kind of wish the sequel had kept the same dark tone.
This earned a sub from me dog, wanted chronological history of the portal series and this definitely delivered. Keep up the good work man.

In the Want You Gone end song. It mentions that "caroline is in here, too." I dont know if that gurantees that GlaDoS never deleted her.
That's a very high compliment. I love Leadhead's content.
There was a reality game show made a long time ago called Solitary. It had 9 contestants locked into solitary confinement whose only connection is through a computer named VAL. Val threw all sorts of tests at them until all but one were eliminated. The last person walked out with $50K. Val sounded very close to GLADOS.

Cave Jhonson: Say goobye, Caroline.
Caroline: Goodbye, Caroline.
Portal and Portal 2 are AMAZING. I've played these games soooo many times and I always enjoy them. Kudos, Skyrionn!!
This is awesome thank you so much. I completed both games yet had no idea the plot was so complex
Few questions:
1. Where did they dispose of Caroline's body?
2. Why didn't the scientists just try to datamine Caroline's conscience back?
Questions I cannot answer I'm afraid. Maybe if we get another game set in Aperture, we may find out
I think it was the body of GLaDOS that was corrupting the attached main cores.
You're right. The attention to detail is absolutely amazing. It was a great scene and perfect ending to another fantastic Valve game too
thank you for explaining the portal time line in depth no I know a little bit of history of Apature lavatorys and Cave Johnson.
I've always considered GLaDOS in the first game to be way more intimidating than in the second, mainly because of how she writhes and thrashes instead of fluently turning.
Bro I’m so glad on how many subscribers you have now. I’ve loved seeing you grow. Been with you since the beginning my guy.
You're the best! I remember your name too! Thanks for continuing on this journey with me.
Best GLaDOS quote (thanks to Ellen McClain's brilliant voice over) is:
"oh. it's you."
#2: "We both said things you're going to regret"
Great video!
Hell yeah, finally a full vid on glados.
I hope it was worth the wait
This was amazingly put together. Thank you for all your hard work :)
I’m watching this as I draw Glados rn. I absolutely adore her sm, thank u for making this video!
I'm so glad!
there's a lot of backstory behind this character, i like that.
It’s worth noting that Aperture Desk Job (probably) isn’t cannon.
Also Excellent video👍
im really glad no one talks about the caroline part, when i first played portal 2 i was guenuinley suprised by a plot twist for once
Absolutely love Glados. Along with Handsome Jack from Borderlands she has to be the greatest villain of any game EVER!
i'd always been under the impression half-life 1 and portal 1 ended around the same time, mainly because i struggle to believe aperture would not have been discovered in the twenty years between half-life 1 and 2 with how many different radio signals there are within the facility, and considering what a serious disruption to the proper functioning of the combine's teleport tech the portalgun probably would have been
based on that assumption i'd assumed portal 2 is either around the time half-life 2 starts, or episode 2 ends
This cleared so many questions I had. A truly amazing video!
The song at the end litterally answers the question of Did she delete Carolyn. *Now little Carolyn is in here too... *
She did not delete Carolyn.
The one thing I’ve learned from Portal 2 is that if there’s one thing GLaDOS is consistent in, it’s constantly finding new ways to call you fat
I like how they decided to include the fact that GLaDOS has a bird phobia.
(And yes I'm here in 2024)
I really hope if we do get half life 3, that somehow, some way Gordon and Alex get into a completely unwinnable situation and its Glados that saves them and helps them defeat the combine.. only to find themselves frozen and woken up some time in the future in a test chamber. lol.
Have you considered doing any videos on TF2 lore? I think you should, if only to complete the Orange Box trilogy. Plus, I'd really like to see how your quiet, melodic style would mix with the utter absurdity of the Team Fortress lore.
I'm open to it. Are there any topics you'd recommend?
@@Skyrionn The history of the Mann family would probably give the best mileage, honestly. There's also Australium. As far as the mercenaries themselves go, Scout gets the majority of the lore development, though Engineer and his family are pretty important to the story. 10:16 I may be a bit dense here, but how in the hell did scientists figure that putting an Anger Core into a murderous, uncontrolable A.I. will be a part of "Perfect combination"?
likely some iterations of the combinations they tried she woke up and did nothing good or bad, so anger was likely added as a motivational instrument
I got a small feeling that after the CMB invasion, soldiers took GLaDOS’s database and transferred her into the citadel to make her the Overwatch, tbh I have this feeling because both are IA systems.
I believe they're voiced by the same person but not the same person.
Definitely no. They _already_ had an ai. Whole citadel it's one biomechanical sentient being
I personally think they just got the technology from the GLaDOS system and then programmed a new AI. (Or already had one) Would explain the similar voice as thats probably a vocal synth attached to a speaker somewhere and is preprogrammed with a sorta baseline of GLaDOS's voice.
i feel like this could easily be 2 hours if we took into consideration how glados said "We will stop enhancing the truth in 3, 2 ,1 [bzzzt]
I never understood how making people solve puzzles for decades could have helped them beat black mesa
They were supposed to be testing the Portal Gun with those. The turrets are also products that were originally meant to be tested.
Maybe the personality cores jammed the signal and when the first core fell off it unjammed the signal and Black Mesa was able to control it again.
thank you... you made it possible to explain portal to nonplayers. this is amazing .
“Good news I found out what that thing you just incinerated did. It was a morality core they installed after I flooded the enrichment center with a deadly neurotoxin to make me stop flooding the enrichment center with a deadly neurotoxin.”
Headcanon: GLaDOS is only a violent murderer because Caroline was crazy
I know this is a year old but it wasnt Bring your Cat to work day where she killed everyone. It was Bring your Daughter to work day. We know this because of Wheatley saying "that did not end well" when looking at the banner. This shows that she intentionally waited for there to be as many people in the facility as possible before killing everyone
The robot that refuses to be a moron. (The lore behind Wheatley).
Added to my notes for a future episode. I have a more ideas for Portal videos.
The robot that was built to be a moron (the lore behind wheatly)
I hope beyond hope that the final HL somehow manages to bridge Aperture and Gordons timine into one cohesive game where the resistance weaponize Gladdos to assist in the fight against the Combine (for testing sake). Could just imagine her factories go into war mode and dispatch fleets of turrets and lemon powered lasers to 7 hour war the hell out of them.
Problem is portal 2 takes place at most 50,000 years after the combine is defeated

We've gotta remember that GLaDOS is extra awesome because during half-life, she was only partially aware of what had happened on the surface, and she knew Black Mesa had fucked up, but she was also aware of the aliens trying to break in and was able to defend Aperture.
glados is, without a doubt, my favorite character of portal
