So refreshing to watch a comprehensive review of the base galaxy s23. And I’m glad you touched on almost every aspect on the phone and didn’t choose to dedicate 2 thirds of the review just to the camera like many other reviewers.
Samsung never had mediocre cameras. Those who used 'pro mode' (in the past) and now expertRaw knows the true essence of taking photos Samsung is providing for its users.
I don't want to have to use pro mode lol. I'd rather just pull out my DSLR for that. I just want solid point and shoot, with maybe some exposure adjustments.
A smartphone camera isn't just a manual mode, otherwise you might as well just rate the Sony sensors they use. For the vast majority of people it's automatic processing, that's why the Pixels are as popular for their cameras. Not because they have world class camera hardware.
That’s the definition of mediocre. If you have to do something to make it better than it’s not that good. Think of your favorite tv show if after you watch it you sit there and rewrite the entire episode did you like it to begin with ?

Europe prices are craaazzzy. I just got the 256gb for $299 here in the states. I guess Samsung can justify the high prices due to their market share in Europe.
@@devon9374 so you are paying for a existing contract at Google Fi. If that is the case you can get the 512GB S23+ here in Europe with a 80GB contract for 29,99€ a month and a 69€ one time payment.

Once again, a claim appears excessively optimistic. At 5:37, it is stated re. the cameras that with "these 3 focal lengths, you can cover pretty much everything". How can you cover everything with a 3x optical zoom? How can you have good quality pictures that require a zoom of 10x, 20x or more? The digital zoom is not going to make it, of course. Even a 2,5x picture will not be ideal, since there is no optical zoom for this level. The zoom if fixed, not variable. Besides, a crucial negative is not mentioned: massive proportion distortion. This impacts all smartphones.
Main focus here, I really want to see the BATTERY PERFORMANCE, and that's all... If it can't reach my standard expectation, maybe I need to hold for next year...
It's a smaller capacity (4700-mAh) on the S23 BUT the snapdragon chip is suppose to make it more efficient. In fact it's smaller than the S21 battery size. The S23 plus has a much better capacity and is more efficient. It also has better cooling sealant. Even with the battery saver you won't be blown away with the S23, it should be adequate dependent on what you use it for.
@@Mandy_39 what i got from the reviews and testimony, they said it can reach for +1 hour than s22 (4+hours) on SOT, which it still not that quite big change, and yes if you use wifi you can save more, but i doubt on usage of cellular.. Why do people call it daily driver its not like u have 48 phones so u have main to use daily. Even if u have 3 4 there is no need to use more than 1, u can use lets say second for work, but that nickname is stll pointless
One question, at 1:50, it is indicated re. the resolution that QHD+ would have made more sense on the S23+. Why is that? The pixel density is already pretty high at 393. No human eye can distinguish such small pixels. What would be the benefits of even smaller pixels?
Waiting for my S23 to arrive and let me tell you this video got me proper excited. But I am totally heeding your warning about ugly emojis because you're right, they're EMBARRASSING! 😭
So weird. After 4 years of using my Note10+ I'm more than game to get a slightly smaller phone. The base 23 having a Snapdragon processor too... Good moves Samsung.
"With the new SoC, there is a night and day difference" (from about 2:38). This claim appears highly exaggerated, or more specifically, unsubstantiated. Even if the new SoC is much more powerful, no denying, the only valid question is whether there is any real case scenario where a user will see a significant difference. And this video does not provide any evidence. The two previous SoCs were already quite powerful. The statement (3:26) that "in every day use the extra performance is clearly noticeable" is a very good exemple of a misleading reasoning. The devices are not tested with the same OS. The S23 has One UI 5.1, while the S22 has the previous version. How do we know that the increased performance is not just tied to the updated OS and has thus nothing to do with the SoC? Also, this could be just tied to different animation times. An iPhone 14 Pro Max, for exemple, takes much more time than an older, massively less powerful iPhone 6S to switch between an app and the Home screen. Of course, no one believes a 14 Pro Max is slower than a 6S. It's just different, longer animations. To make a substantiated claim, both devices should be in similar conditions: both new, same OS version, same One UI version. Besides, connectivity is not necessarily handled by the SoC. Distinct chips can perform these tasks. This depends on the smartphone.
6:59 why are you comparing the base S23 to the iPhone's and Pixel's Pro models ?? When in reality the S23 used to cost the same as the iPhone 14 and Pixel 7, now it costs even less as it starts at 600$ in eBay brand new !

About time, I've started to watch the German version while waiting.
Nice review. Informative, straight to the point, and relaxing at the same time. Keep it up.
Ngl
I own a S22 and it's a pretty nice model but at times I feel I miss the S21 specially with the cameras and in hand feel
Got my S23+ and absolutely loving it 😍
