Thank you SO much for sharing the primitive decor. It is SO HARD to find folks who DIY in that style. Awesome 😊
Thanks so much Tina! I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🥰
Thank you for renewing my love for primitive decor! I’m going to try grubbing up some candles. Love what you do! ❤️
You are so welcome! That is so exciting! Thank you😊
I came back to this so I can make me some primitive Fall candles. I'm going to order my mod podge today and visit DT for spices. This is exactly what I've wanted!!
These are beyond beautiful. Thanks again. Primitive never gets old and boring .
That's awesome Charlotte! Have fun and let me know how they turn out😀
Literally, just this morning I was looking for videos on making grubby candles. Talk about perfect timing.
Too funny! Well hope this helps😀
You're awesome! I can't wait to try these!!! Thank you ❤
You are so welcome! 😊
I searched grubby candles yesterday to learn how to make them myself and found this video!
Let me tell you I went out and got my supplies today can't wait to make these tomorrow!
New subscriber you are simply amazing!
Hello and Welcome Kathy! I am so excited for you to try it. I love how they came out. In a newer video, I mentioned that I added more coffee because I like the darker look and I also showed the difference by just using cinnamon (which I like too). Here is the video in case you want to check it out ruclips.net/video/R0vc6b2y-9g/видео.html.
Let me know what you think and how they come out!😀
Very nice idea thank you for sharing keep in touch

Thanks for this tutorial! I am grubbying up everything! haha I love your channel. I'm a primitive decorator also and I'm a fellow Mainer.
Hello fellow Mainer, glad to meet you! It is so fun, the change it makes in items you grubby is such a big difference. Thank you so much for watching!😀
Cannot wait to try this. I think it will be like the applesauce ornaments we use to make but so much easier. Perfect for my cabin, outdoor Christmas tree theme.
Great idea!! It definitely would.
You are so, so talented!
Awww thank you so much Carmen💕 You are so sweet 😊
I am new to your videos. I love them. You explain everything so well. And I’m happy that you’re not promoting certain expensive products. I will definitely keep watching.

@@RepurposedMyWay Hello
Just found your channel, thanks for sharing your recipe.
Welcome! I am glad you found it helpful 😊
Thank you for this video. Your instructions were clear and easy to understand. I can't wait to try this technique!
Thanks Nancy! Its fun and relaxing I think. Hope you have fun doing it too. 😀
Glad to know how to do this on other materials. Like doing candles. Adding color is really neat. Thanks
You’re welcome 😊 It definitely makes a big difference.
I'm new to your channel! My dad has made primitive art for years (over 40) and I've always loved his stuff, but didn't know how to style it or do any dIYs, to go with them, to bring them out. Thank you so very much!!
Welcome Tiffany! That is so awesome that your dad did that. It is hard sometimes to figure out what to put together to look good. I am glad you are here.
Thank you for sharing! I really love what you’ve done with the plaster color! Wow! Good job 👍🏻
Thanks so much Diana! 😊
Love all of these!!!!❤
Thank you Rhonda!

Awww, you are so welcome Robin! 💕😊
Really liked how the items turned out, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Carmen😊
Thank you for sharing this wonderful technique!
You're the BEST!!! 💕
Thank you so much Therese!! 🥰
Thank you😇
You are welcome 😊
They all look great. I wondered though does the outer coat especially with paint affect the smell of the spices? Also the stars reminded me of when I made a dough out of equal parts cinnamon and apple sauce and made ornaments with cookie cutters. They still smell and look great after over 20 years. Except the ones I made too thin
Yes, it does tone the smell down quite a bit. I remember doing the cinnamon and sauce ornaments with my kiddos years ago. I think I still have some in my ornaments too. ☺
Once again a amazing job 👍 Thank you for sharing
Thank you Margie!🤗
I really like this technique Shelly! Thank you for sharing 🤗
Thanks Kat! It’s fun😀
@@RepurposedMyWay Maybe I’ll give it another try sometime. I appreciate you sharing!
You are so awesome. Thank you for sharing this. I have been using your technique on some old battery operated candles. I also used it on some string light candles for Christmas tree. They look amazing. We love watching your tutorials. God bless you ☺️
Thank you so much for the kind words. 😊 I am so glad you are enjoying them. Take care
Can't wait to try this
Have fun! Let me know how it comes out!
I think I’m hooked on the grubbing thing. The last thing I did was a candle with pumpkin pie spice
Nice! It is a lot of fun and looks so cool.
@@RepurposedMyWay I know.I talked to a lady in hobby lobby and told her what I was doing,I said it’s messy she said the messier the better
@@karenburkhaulter3155 lol so true!
Love that white
Hi shelly!!! New sub here!!! I love your grubby candles!!!
Hello and Welcome! I’m so glad you love them! Thank you!!
Thank you I love this.
Thank you Jennie💕
Love the candles . .. where can I get them ?
Thank you Lesia! There is a link in the description to purchase the battery candles and stars from Amazon. The round wax candles I purchased from Dollar Tree. If you mean the finished products that are already grubbied, I need to restock the candles in my Etsy shop. The link is in my description also.
Do the candles take on the smell of the spices when you burn them? Great video - thanks!
Thank you Eleanor! Once the candles are grubbied they can't be burned. The wick will burn down to the candle and go out.
I also like the primitive look. Do you light the candles and if so doing this technique, will it have a fragrance??
Thank for the great question. These are for decoration only. The won’t burn the mod podge or spice mixture makes the wick go out. Of course in a situation where you wanted to burn it, you could scrape the spice off the top down to the wax and keep the wick. It would burn then.
Love this.. will the candles smell like cinnamon when you burn them?
The wax candles don’t burn after they have been grubbied. They do smell good though.
Have you ever tried grinding up? Some are shredding up some cinnamon stick. And putting that on in certain little places all over that looks really good too. I've done that before cos i'm a lot older than you are
I haven't, but that is a great idea. I will check into it. Thank you!!
I just did some candles...I do it a little dif but they look the same pretty much...love grubby candles!!!
Nice! It’s kind of relaxing and fun. 😀
@@RepurposedMyWay It really is!!! It's therapy for me.😊
@@lindascribner6602 Yes! Same here😊
Hi I just found your channel and I love it.. I have a ? Can you still burn the real candles with the mod podge on it?
Love this video🎉
Glad you liked it!! Thank you!
I bought the breakfast blend coffee at $ tree I’m going to try it with my spices
Nice! Have fun!😀
@@RepurposedMyWay I’ll try to have fun lol
Hello, New subscriber 😊. Is the bulb glass? Thank You
Hello and Welcome! The bulb is plastic, like the candle. 😀
I made a lot of candles as a kid. Yours are great.

GoodDay
I have a "grubby" " gringy" question for you. I have a roll of furniture webbing for a ton of crafty projects, but it is new and I want it to look old. What do I do to un-new it.
If it it canvas or cloth material it would be easy to coffee or tea stain it. Coffee gives a darker stain than the tea. Make sure which ever mixture you use is warm and submerge your webbing in it. Check to see how the coloring is after 30 minutes and keep checking until desired darkness. ( The color will be lighter after it dries.) Spread it out in the sun and it should be just the right aging for your project. Hope this helps, Good Luck!!
@@RepurposedMyWay its like thick woven burlap with two lines of red stitches down the length near the edges.
@@joanhawkins8552 I would try the coffee soak. It can't hurt if it doesn't work. Just don't rinse after soaking and leave it to dry in the sun if possible.
Oh boy! Yum
😀
BlessedDay ,,,
I just found your channel and I was wondering can I do pine cones I know they sell the ones with the scents already but they disappear very fast
Hello and Welcome Florence! Yes, I am sure you could. That would look so good😀
Where can I buy the tall candle that turns on
I bought them off from Amazon. Here is the link ->6 pk Timer Candles - amzn.to/339KETS
okay I understand how you do that but if you cover your bulb what type of lighting are you going to have coming from that light why would you cover the bulb is it going to make a big difference or not
The light is a little more muted when you grubby it, but still a good amount of light comes through. I have seen them with and without being done. I prefer adding the mix to the bulb, but I think it is personal choice.
You know what would be neat on the stars give it some rusty patches like around the edge on the light colored one
That is a great idea😀
Is plaster the name of the chalk paint? or did you really add plaster?
It is the color name from Waverly
Have you ever added Epson salts to these for more texture?
No, but now I wanna try it! Have you tried it?
@@RepurposedMyWay I tried just the Epson salts with paint but didn’t like how it turned out, I’m thinking about trying it again with the grubby look. Won’t be able to do it until next month.
@@carolwitt8046 I will add some to what I have mixed up and let ya know how it comes out for me. 😀
