Your videos are absolutely lovely, and I have made a habit out of watching one before going to bed to wind down. They are so relaxing and truly wonderful for living vicariously through a creative process. I especially enjoy the glazing process, because I am a painter. I’m looking forward to buying a pot from you in the future!
These full process videos are my absolute favourite, nothing quite like seeing a pot through from clay to glazed final piece. I have my favourite parts of the process, but seeing it all in sequence is strangely therapeutic. 💕
I’m obsessed with your aesthetic. Simple shapes, full of very small and balanced intricate details. And your color theory is ✨stunning ✨I CANNOT wait until your next online shop release!
I preordered your book. It will be out in less than six months; that’s not long considering how time flies. Also, I think these new designs are aesthetically spot on.
Thank you very much! This particular stoneware shrinks about 12% when fired to 1290ºc. I definitely take it into consideration, making things just a fraction larger than they'll ultimately be.
Thank you so much. You are my instructor definitely. I have learned so much by watching your videos. Thank you for your hard work. I have a question regarding this metal sharp edge tool. Where did you buy that? Why are you using on this video? I’ve been looking for it I can’t find it. That you may have this made for you?
When you think about the shape of your spout, keep in mind how you made it when it was on the wheel and what direction the wheel was spinning. You should already know that during firing the all parts of the vessel will warp to some degree. Because the spout was thrown, the clay will remember how it was made and will warp in the direction the wheel was spinning. If you attach the spout straight during firing, it will warp in the direction of the wheel's spin, so think about how you need to distort it before attaching and how to attach it to the vessel. Edit--- I'm more of a hand builder because I focus on sculpture, but I love the wheel and playing with different shapes.
It only really seems to make a difference if you cut the end of the spout, or deform it from its original, thrown roundness. Clay unwinds for sure, but these spouts, as they aren’t altered much after being thrown, stay pretty much where put. If you were to cut the end, like many teapot spouts have, then yes, you’ve got to take that into consideration and attach it slightly askew, so when it fires it straightens out as the clay unwinds.
Florian, gracias por los videos, soy tu seguidora. Te quiero proponer que como tu solo trabajas con gres o sea alta temperatura, tienes alguna formula de esmalte para 1180 que sea hermoso y puedas compartir?
I love this version of your pitchers, they are so your vibe. I preordered on waterstones! prob won’t win but it can’t hurt to hope lol do you know how many people have pre-ordered so far?
Thanks so much Alex! Means an awful lot, and hey, you never know. I don't know exact numbers but everyone seems to be happy so far - September 7th seems so far away.
Not since I was a student! That occurs when you fire pots that are too damp, so since experiencing it a few times all those years ago I now dry everything out thoroughly before firing it.
I have a question, you said you use crackle color, but are those kinds of colors safe to use for food and drinks? Whenever I am looking for crackle colors they seem not to be foodsafe
does anyone have suggestions for how to make a spout for a form like this, not dribble as much or at all? Is it simply just the angle at which it is put on the form, or does the shape of the spout also do something? Thank you in advance for any help :)
i remember you talking about how you have to take the subway or something to your studio, do you bring your dog with you? Also how do you become more confidant whilst throwing?
Love you're videos! You are like the Bob Ross of pottery.
Well said.

Same! My new nighttime routine lol

This is lovely. My father was a potter; I spent countless hours watching him at his wheel.

Love the bonus dog content - we always love to see Ciro 😊
The lines in your work are just incredible! Like as a physicist I love their almost mathematical beauty!
Awe, those little pitchers are beautiful. It looked like you had many incredible pieces.
Thank you for the pour test!! Love it so much!!! Thank you!!
I loved seeing the flow footage at the end for the different spouts you made

I love this piece and would really enjoy it as a tea pot.
So satisfying watching before sleep❤ thanks for the lovely video
Love these. Something very "oil can" (from Wizard of Oz) about them. I love the little cups, too.
How could anyone NOT watch to the end!
Loving the narration and videography on this film! As always I am supremely impressed.
Cheers from Colorado
finally First! Excellent quality as always!❤
Also can I ask what’s the shrinkage rate of your clay and do you factor that into your throwing gage when u r making new pieces?

I always learn something new and very interesting. Thank you for sharing this process with us.
Such lovely shapes.
Beautifully done!

@@floriangadsby it will be the first time where i’ve wanted to buy something from u and actually been able to get it loll
Thank you!
excellent - thank you
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
You should make a video about pottery donts and do them to show why we don’t do them
Thanks for sharing.
Have you ever had something blow in the kiln?
Love the work ❤
Not since I was a student! That occurs when you fire pots that are too damp, so since experiencing it a few times all those years ago I now dry everything out thoroughly before firing it.
Florian, I noticed that two mugs on the bottom kiln shelf look like they had already been reduction fired. Were you re-firing those?
Ciro! 🖤🤎

This shape I do like.
Nice mug at the end, who made it?
It’s a Phil Rogers. Has a tiny chip on the rim that I need to fix, but otherwise a very lovely cup.
@@floriangadsby Oh what a special cup! I thought that glaze and band looked familiar.. I hope I can get my hands on a Rogers pot someday.
How much clay did you use for these?
What is the weight of a piece of clay for such vase?
i remember you talking about how you have to take the subway or something to your studio, do you bring your dog with you? Also how do you become more confidant whilst throwing?
I think the most important thing to throwing is to not be afraid of learning new techniques and also failing whilst trying, good luck 👍
If you paint a cup with conductive graphite paint then electroplate it
14:42 "Quite a bothersome task" I believe this translates into American as "would be a complete pain in the ass".
Hi can you do a crackpipe tutorial
I loved your old way of narrating more
