Looking forward to it Jono. My question is …. do you have any plans for doing a public lecture or little show at some point down the line? I remember your guildhall lectures on RUclips about composing to film (the theme was time if memory serves), I would love to see something similar on your ‘end to end’ composing & mixing process for a contemporary song or orchestral piece. Thanks as always.
Hi John. There are some announcements to come on Wednesday which I’m really looking forward to sharing. Will and I have talked about where we hope the channel might lead and more public shows like the Guildhall Masterclasses are definitely something we’d love to do. At the moment, the audience for the channel is spread far and wide but if we reach a point where there is a large enough group potentially interested in attending a live session in the same place and time, yes, I’d be delighted to run another.
I’m in. Prelim. question: Is Mastering assistant good enough for a release, and by that I mean, as small artists caring to share our work are the end results ‘good enough’?
One question for the live stream (which may or may not be worthy of its own video) - how do I make recorded guitar sound less... home recorded? I have a great pedalboard that sounds lovely through a real amp, and an ostensibly decent focusrite USB interface, so I don't feel I can blame my hardware... I guess the question is how to work with logic's amp sims? Or maybe there's another trick or two I've not come across.
That’s a great question and is absolutely worth a video of its own. But in short, you can DI your guitar directly to your interface and then monitor through Amp Designer and Pedalboard if you like; a broad range of tones can be achieved that way. If you prefer to mic your amp, your mic and amp choice, alongside the acoustics of your room, will all come into play. I’ll add it to the list and we’ll definitely look at this in a future episode. Many thanks for suggesting it.
This is slightly off topic: I see you are using a Mac Studio and set up. Which one? How much power? What accessories? Running Logic 11 and the new AI capabilities are all dependant on what Mac one has. Thank you. Bernard Clarke
Hi Bernard. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I’m actually in the process of looking into new Mac Studio systems, so let me get back to you when I’ve optimised the spec. Thanks for the question. You’re right, M1 now seems to be a recommended minimum requirement (if not an obligation!) for Logic 11.
@@jonobuchananmusic Thanks Jono. I'm using an M1 MacBook Pro and monitor etc., and looking at a studio/monitor/killer setup etc., I haven't gone to Sonoma yet but will before the new OS is generally available. Looking forward to the live stream, thanks again
Can't make a Wednesday night - but look forward to watching the replay!
Sorry you can’t join us (but completely understand!). Absolutely, the session will go out on the channel shortly after the end of the live stream.
Looking forward to it 👍🏻
Great, see you then Lee!
Hope I can be online with you all from Southern California!
I hope so too! Thanks so much.
Excellent! Can't wait
Great! See you then, Donnie
