Skoda Citigo review - What Car?

- The Skoda Citigo is one of the best city cars around - it's great to drive, well built and cheap to buy and run.
The Citigo doesn't look or feel as classy as its Volkswagen Up sister car, and the lower-powered engine can struggle at higher speeds. However, it is economical and well built.
What do you think of the Skoda Citigo? Let us know in the comments below!

Bought a 2014 Citigo SE 59 bhp/60 PS 3 door last December and I'm more than happy with it. Small and manouverable in town and adequate on motorways. Refined and quiet with precise steering and gearchange. Enough room for four and a lot of luggage space for it's size. Economical too (53 mpg the last time I filled up).
Just bought one as my first car! Great little motor
Me too. It is slow as hell but i can fit four girls in there and that is everything that matters😂😂. I have the most bright green colour and it is pretty funny looking car. The problem is that i have a year 2019 and it does not have bluetooth
Good concise review!
Skoda is really underrated
Agreed ! So is Seat, like the SEAT Leon, that car is amazing !
Car mad So true!
+ThinkCleverAndSmart I don't think Skoda is underrated any more. Fabia, Octavia and Yeti all come out well in tests. Most people who have any interest in cars know that Skodas are based on VW underpinnings.
***** In my class in school, there is only two pupils that know how good skodas are. Me and my friend Robert. I also know the reason to this. Because both have had a skoda in our family. The rest of our class hates skoda and they say that they would not even get one if they could get it for three cents.
You're underrated!
I can't seem to find a second hand 74bhp version?
Good car and agree with the review. Drives like a bigger car and less prone to strong winds on the motorway: I drove the new model Toyota Aygo and that car, although looking more streamlined, can be thrown around by sudden gusts when passing a lorry. Less so with this boxy Citigo!
I got a 16 plate Citigo with the 74 bhp engine, and im amazed how good it is for a small car. Comfortable, enough power for normal use (ive had very fast cars yet dont miss the power), great on motorways, excellent buy one of these if you need a cheap car.
I've got the 60 and tbh it's got more than enough power.
I have one too. More than enough power till you hit the motorway, then less so. I find it struggles a bit. Especially up hills.
Are these people driving a Skoda citigo because it makes me wonder I have had it for nearly 3 years now and it is one the worst cars I have ever had
Brilliant little car
Bought a used one for the wife, nice car, but when changing gear, letting the clutch out, there is sound like a “thunk” when it engages. Does it in all gears. There is no clutch slip or drag, and it drives fine. Any idea what the noise is?
If its coming from the pedal area its supposed to be to do with a worn Bush in the clutch pedal area. Mine rattles while the clutch is up and slips I'm about to change the whole clutch
Steven You can hear it more when in the passengers seat with the window open, doesn’t sound like it’s coming from the clutch.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
@@stuarthall2523 well the clutch is hydraulic not cable style so the sound if not coming from the pedal box could be inside the bellhousing. Someone said the pressure plate springs bend on them and contact other components. When mine rattles if I press the clutch in and out a few times it usually goes away meaning its around the clutch release bearing/pressure plate for me. I think the citigo uses a solid flywheel not dual mass so shouldn't be that. There's also a pin which the clutch release bearing fork sits on can wear out which could cause rattling I think but not a clunk. If the sound is coming from the gearbox then probably clutch related. Your milage should tell you most clutches last 60k. Some people say they rattle as standard but I'm not so sure.. clicking or thunk sound is different tho. Interesting to see if it does it all the time without engine running
Steven The car has 34k miles and is 5 years old. There isn’t any noise when the engine is off, only when driving and going up the gearbox, second to third etc. It’s baffled me as the clutch works ok, and bites at the usual distance from the floor. There are no rattles when in neutral with the clutch out clutch in. Probably something I’ll have to learn to live with.
@@stuarthall2523 Yeah its often difficult to diagnose gearbox sounds. If it does it on only certain gears it could be within the box, all gears is more likely to be clutch. I'm going to change the clutch and plate, release bearing, fork and pin and oil and hope for the best.. hopefully you get yours sorted or it gives no trouble. Mine has always rattled its a 13 its got 118k and I'm pretty sure its on its 2nd clutch which is about dead. Always rattled but started with an odd loud squeak when changing recently and then started to slip on motorway in 4th 5th. Some people hate the gearboxes I know they aren't the most refined but for a small car they're OK and cheap enough to get bits for. Mounts can be worn aswell this could be giving a clunk sound especially if its louder the more aggressively you change gear. Good luck! Theres normally a rubber bung on the gearbox bellhousing at the top you could try to remove and have a listen that just to see if it gets any louder if so then probably in there. You could also check the actual linkage if esp if you're seeing/feeling excessive movement at the gearstick when under load/changing load. Yeah gearboxes are fun aren't they 😄
the automatic is sluggish? then no :(
Manual is way more fun in such a car anyway

most of these companies are still refusing to make a fully electric cars simply to protect their income from servicing oil/gas engines.
No. Fully electric cars are still not good enough to replace petrol or diesel engines. The technology has not advanced enough. Also, it is not practical for a lot of people to charge a car overnight. I have an old weavers cottage, and no driveway. It is not practical to trail a cable out from the house to the car at night as it would be a trip hazzard. Not to mention idiots wanting to unplug it. We dont all live magazine lifestyles.
Simon George tesla is killing the old dinosaurs. Apple and Google are also coming. hahaha
@@oddities-whatnot 100% electric for 2020
You can only buy the Citigo and Mii as electric and the up! has an electric model
