Keep the veteran interviews coming. All the content, from all the podcasts, is great but the veteran content is golden and I hate to see it lost. Thank you for sharing these stories!
I absolutely love the way you respect all of these older warriors. So much that today's generation could learn from your fine example. Thank you, Jocko and Echo.
This man fought the Nazis. Real, actual Nazis, head to head. As time marches on, fewer and fewer of these heroes remain. Thank you to Jocko and Echo for giving this man a platform, and preserving his story on video for future generations.
It's a terrible thing that the main percentage of young people in this day in age have no idea about WW2 or history in general, these men were heroes of the highest order. Paradropping into Normandy, Italy and Holland. Fighting Rommel in the blistering heat of Africa with thousands of tanks and vehicles, pilots flying extreme bombing raids deep into Germany, night and day. The commandos storming Saint Nazaire or the US Mountain teams storming Monte La Defensa against impossible odds (literally impossible), the allied nations fighting together at the bottom of Monte Cassino to Belgium and the Siegfried line. The extreme violence that US and Australian troops went through in the Pacific and Asia, fighting against battle hardened Japanese soldiers and suicidal attacks. The thousands of men who died in massive sea battles across the world, drowning in burning oil and surviving blizzard freezing temperatures for weeks on end when escorting convoys through the Arctic to Russia. RAF and USAAF forces fighting together over the skies of Europe and England. Even on both sides, German soldiers have my respect. If you forget the regime and the ideals the German soldiers were some of the finest fighting soldiers of the world who engaged in insane battles across the whole world, fighting dozens of nations all at the same time. They dont make people like that anymore, learning the history of WW2 gives you a whole new appreciation of the world we live in. RIP to the fallen who gave there lives for their countries and democracy across the globe.
My Pop was a 2 tour Vietnam combat veteran, infantry and Air Cav., doorgunner in a slick. I am honored to have known MANY other Vietnam, as well as World War ll veterans growing up. In his final years, Pop belonged to a disabled veteran's shooting/ hunting club. I used to modify ATV trailers into blinds with shooting tables and beer reloading stations for them, just priveledged to hear the stories these men have to tell. I am hooked. This is a great series, I've watched everything you've got on Vietnam LRRPs, some of whom my Pop flew in support of. Vietnam was a fact of life for me, born in 1965, I remember it mostly as black and white images of Hueys and Walter Cronkite. My grandmother certain she saw her baby in the door of every chopper. As these men pass, we lose history that is not being taught or passed down to our current generation, lessons in life, in character, in American history. We are listening.
Just... I have no words, Jocko, you are doing such important work here. We truly need to hear more stories from WW2. Would love to hear you read about a German/Japanese/Italian soldiers accounts from WW2, would be powerful to hear from the other side. Much respect from Finland Jocko and EC.
Such an honor to be able to listen and learn from these great men, absolutely amazing setting for this show as well. Thank you for this podcast, Keep gettin' after it.
This is simply amazing. The quality of content, quality of audio, the ability to moderate the convo while letting the guests tell their story uninterrupted. Thanks again guys!
Its important to hear these stories. My great grandfather was injured in a bombing raid while in England his wife my great grandmother built the flying fortresses she felt it was her duty to build the best so our service men had opportunity to win the war and come home safely. Thank you for allowing me to hear these stories. A greatful American
This podcast could've gone on for another three hours and would've been worth every single second. We truely are blessed to have men like these, never forget!
Jocko, you need to keep reaching out and interviewing these war heroes. In my line of work I have met a lot of them and their stories make me reach within myself for a higher standard. Thank you sir.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We owe these men a debt that this country will never be able to re-pay. My father served in the U.S.N. Submrerine service.....and never spoke about it. Again Jacko, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.MY Family was from Pittsburgh too.
Legendary men, all boys should listen to this in school on their history class. Maybe we can raise a new generation of real men and not these soft vegan buttercups.
Mad RESPECT for all of you! Love hearing from different generations all at once. I listen to your podcast during my lunch break and it always snaps me back to what’s truly important. Love this country! 🇺🇸
This is so cool. I stopped listening and went to the Episode Jocko said to listen to and wow. Both dudes…just incredible. Worked harder tonight during my shift while listening to these legends.
Thank you Jocko for bring these two American heros to us. Such an honor to sit and listen to living history and learn from these men. It was amazing to hear three generations of American soldiers talk about their experiences and share lessons for life and business. I thank the three of you for your service to our Country. God bless you and God bless America.
Miss my WW2 vet great grandpa after hearing this, tough as nails old man, a generation of American heros! I remember my grandpa's stories of storming the beaches of Normandy and he had a German Mauser pistol he got from an officer, got to take it home.
Sad there won’t be many of these guys left . This is a very special podcast . Very great to hear . Very rare to hear these kinds of stories in this format . Thanks for putting these together . Someone has to preserve these stories Jocko your doing these men right by letting them talk and share .
I honestly feel this about every podcast you do, especially the book reads and guest episodes. What an outstanding group of absolute gentlemen. I'm constantly humbled by the stories shared through this podcast. Listening to these stories have really helped me put my insignificant problems into perspective and to be thankful for the privileged life is live. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
I have endless respect and admiration for these men. Wonderful stories, told well, great audio, great inspiration. These podcasts have helped me through a difficult time in my life and put things in perspective for me. God bless and keep getting after it 😁
1:17:09 the netley hospital, aka Queen Victoria country park is indeed an old military hospital, now with a museum and memorial. I grew up in and around Southampton. Queen Vic park was where I spent many evenings after school eating fish n chips. Crazy to think how different it must’ve been there during ww2. Big respect to vets and service people ❤️
Taking the podcast to the next level. Instantly one of my top 5 favorites and maybe #1! Incredible stories with a many lessons. Loved the statement the Truman dropped the bomb and ruined a perfectly good war. #respect #grateful #3warriorgenerations
Research on WW2 aerial combat is an interest of mine and what Jim was saying was gold, such nuance points that you'll rarely ever get to know because so few people can detail it.
I cannot get enough of these podcast I listen all day long at work God bless all my brothers and sisters in arms and the souls of the fallen . .82AA 🇺🇸
It's amazing to see a World War Two veteran on your podcast! I do a lot of work with World War Two Veterans doing interviews and preserving their stories. Keep up the amazing work, Jocko!
i loved this podcast! I hope you didnt think it was too long for us civilians Jocko. I almost wish it was longer and they told us more about those nurses hehehehehe
Something often overlooked in military history are the flying sergeants & petty officers of the army, marines & navy during WW2. All branches ultimately went to commissioned officers as pilots with the exception of the Army who still continue a program for helo pilots that enlist & become warrant officer pilots.
Please invite as many of these WWII vets on as possible Jocko, they've been true heroes of mine since I was young and it breaks my heart knowing how many are getting up there in age and passing.
I can’t thank these young men for what they have done for us . I couldn’t even engine to think about how they felt when the pt boats dropped the back door on the beach .
Keep the veteran interviews coming. All the content, from all the podcasts, is great but the veteran content is golden and I hate to see it lost. Thank you for sharing these stories!
They are the real deal.

I’ve met a couple WW2 vets and man I could sit and listen to their stories for hrs
You're lucky. Many Vets don't tell stories. It wasn't something to be spoken after their service.
Research on WW2 aerial combat is an interest of mine and what Jim was saying was gold, such nuance points that you'll rarely ever get to know because so few people can detail it.
@JockoPodcast: Ya'll should create a playlist for the podcasts with guest speakers.
Comments about our educational system are spot on.
