That’s why bears consume as much fructose as possible, especially before hibernation . Fructose spikes Uric acid. This causes aggressive fat storage for the winter. It also raises aldosterone which causes sodium retention and thus water retention. The water is stored in the fat. This is not unhealthy for the bears because they only eat berries in season, and go on a long fast.

Dr. Boz. I really need help with this. I have had eight surgeries on my foot. I am currently on a carnivore diet. My glucose is not being fueled by my diet, but by the stress the surgeries have had on my body. The first surgery was to stabilize my foot. The ligament on the inside of my foot had severed and my foot had collapsed inward. The surgeon put three screws in the foot and two in the ankle. But after a few months of starting to walk, I was still throwing my foot. An x-ray showed I had blown my deltoid. The second surgery was to repair the two ligaments. But that became infected. I had five more surgeries while they were trying to arrest the infection. The eighth surgery was to remove the hardware, as the infection had settled in the adhesions of the ligaments and the anchors for the screws. Since then, I have not been able to walk. I have been dealing with constant pain. The surgeon told me to reduce my A1c in order to do another surgery. It was 6.8. That's when I went on the carnivore diet. In six months I reduced it to 5.7. I wear a CGM to keep an eye on what foods are affecting my glucose. Now the surgeon says he doesn't want to do another surgery. I'm frustrated. My diet is very manageable, but the pain causes stress. All the success I have obtained before all this beginning is being eaten away with the stress. I am on metformin and glimepiride, just because of the effect the pain has on my glucose production. I am a loss what to do.
So tired to trying to lose the last 30 pounds ! I did keto , I did carnivore , I did intermittent fasting, I did omnivore diet , whole 30 , every diet ! I cannot live only eating meat and nearly zero carb vegetables and only berries ! I feel Exhausted when I do that and yes I’m getting fat in my diet ! I did high fat / high protein …. Protein sparing modified fast I’ve done it all ! Nothing works and the longer I fast the higher my A-1C goes and I get bad insomnia which only makes things worse ! Stress from just trying to lose body fat is an issue ! I’ve been lifting weights and not doing cardio so I don’t spike cirtisol and if I don’t sleep or have carbs I can’t workout effectively at all ! These videos are so damn confusing as every online doctor has a different opinion and are sponsored or selling some product which imho is the same as regular allopathic doctors shilling for drug companies! I’m just praying and believing God will get me through it all and I’ll come out on the other side healthier and 30 ish pounds less with lean strong muscles
Sorry to hear that. If the diet(s) isn't providing you the energy you need daily, then it might not be for you. Consider engaging a nutritionist than looking for advice online as no one-size-fits-all approach works. Everybody's body and health can vary widely.
Hi. I'm doing carnivore, the lion diet. Could I ask for how long you tried each diet? If you get tired on high fat you might not be able to absorb it well enough. Your liver makes bile, your gallbladder stores it. When fat needs to get broken down for absorption your gallbladder spray the correct area with bile. For some people the bile get too thick and it affects the "spraying" in a bad way not covering the entire area of fat.
I have studied nutrition for 30 years and after a lot of information it seems that “whole food, plant based” is the most scientifically and anecdotal successful way of eating. More veggies, fruit, herbs, multigrain, beans, 24 hour yogurt, plant fats, will get you more fiber. Most people have twice the protein and half the fiber they need. My daughter’s ulcerative colitis and husband’s heart disease are controlled without medication. She rarely has flares and he hasn’t had angina pain for years (after heart attack/stents).
@@colleenhammer2651 that might be correct for most people, I am not arguing that. When I went down your route my autoimmune problems never got better. Only when I took a chance on going full carnivore did I get my health back to a level where life felt worth living, instead of just enduring.

2x25 and now 2x30 100 yard sprints a day put me under my 12th grade weight. That's around 10,000 steps a day walking and 3,500 strides. Not for everyone, but male age 69 retired, works for me. Around 3 hours total. Something to do. 5,200 done. 4,800 more to go by around Nov. 1st. Sucks and boring as hell. Don't even wear headset.
Hi, I understand the 100 yard part, but what exactly do you mean by 2x25 (2x30). Do you mean that you sprint 100 yards, make a small break, then dash again and repeat it 25(30) times during the day? I'd be grateful if you could specify because the number of steps and strides is rather wonky together and then I got even more confused because first you said that you have 10 000 steps a day but then mention that you'll finish around Nov 1st
@@lushkam12x25 is twice a day. I was only doing 25 a day in March and April , then on May 2, I went to two a days. Was at 1,100 then. Went to 30 in morning and 30 in evening in July. August, I went to 35 each. Currently at 8,330 as I now work part time so it’s one session a day. 70 strides each sprint and 130 steps back to starting line so the heart rests. When I get to 10,000 , that will be 568 miles each way, 700,000 strides and 1.3 million steps , not including walking to park, warm ups and walking home. On 1/1/25 I plan to jump rope 2,740 a day and see if I can do a million skips next year. I did 200,000 4 years ago in 51 weeks but could only jump 3 days a week due to work. Will see how it goes. That 568 miles is Minneapolis to Fort Wayne. High school speed is long gone since I’m nearing 70. Exercise sucks but never fails! lol There is nothing right or wrong the way I do my routine, you may have better ideas. If you do sprints, keep me posted. Took 5 hours. Ask any thing. Thanks.
@ 2x25 is twice a day. 25 in morn 25 at nite. Then I went 2x30 then 2x35. I sprint east and walk 130 steps back to starting line. Years ago I started at 6 and worked myself up. If you do sprints, let me know how it goes. I’m at 8,330 for the season with 1,670 left. High school doors long gone but I try at age 69. Thinking of a million skips ( jump rope) in 2025. One question that comes to mind: if cortisol is highest after waking up in the morning is it best to wait until later in the day for such intentional, artificial spikes or is it just as beneficial to do so right after waking?
this is a good question. some might suggest that doing something that spikes cortisol in the morning would be OK, because that leaves a longer period of the day where it isn't spiked at all.

Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge and wisdom. With your guidance, along with support from others, I’ve managed to lose around 130 lbs. While I’m not quite where I want to be yet, I’m grateful for how far I’ve come.

Exactly.
I dont eat any sugar or fruit , and on keto for 3yr, uric acid is still 7.9 , stuggling with this

Do your base your diet practices on bears?

What's the cure for menopause? 22 years of being woken up every 15 to 120 minutes for a hot flash. Huge belly even after doing intermittent fasting for years...but my face is thinner. And two decades of panic caused by an adverse reaction to Ativan, although I was told I was nuts and forced on other meds. Then there's 15 years on Lipitor and it almost crippled me and increased my blood sugar. I increased my fat and got more belly fat. I'm 70. I've been dieting all my life, including bouts of anorexia and bulimia which made me skinny. Now I don't eat and I don't lose weight. I stopped exercising when the pandemic shut everything down. I didn't even lose weight when I gave up alcohol. What's the point in trying anymore?
I give up.
Hormone replacement therapy? Carnivore diet?
Try pre/probiotics daily. Also, 3 months of MOUNJARO lost 15 pounds, which is all your liver needs to detoxify, to help you lose more weight and reverse fatty liver. Lemon, honey, peppermint, green tea works wonders, just 3 times a week will help you. Try again, DO NOT GIVE UP.
This video totally makes sense. I'm off Prednisone for 3 months now and I'm in terrible hormone imbalance because of it. Prednisone messes up adrenal gland so cortisol is messed up too...before I took it (only for 9 days) I was thin, athletic, a healthy dancer and now I look horrible!!! No matter what I did -still gained weight and lost my period and now, almost 8 kg more, I'm beginning to lose hope that I will ever look like my old self again. 😢
I just subscribed. Dr. Boz's information is not only valuable to guiding me in my dietary journey, she's also so-o pretty.
Always great Dr Boz!
Dr. I am a loss what to do.
no sweetened anything!!!

Ma'am you are looking more fresh and young compared to what you looked in earlier ones 😊. Keep it up you are leading by way of an example 👍
Keto is great for feeling satiety and weight loss you start with high fat once in ketosis start lowering it so that your body will start eat its own fat
Good content and well prepared. Thank you.
i really want try keto but here are the 4 reason why i fail
1 find support
2 find a practioner (doctor) who understand what keto is (burning fat instead of sugar)
3 change you're mindset that keto is not a diet but a lifestyle
4 get a plan and stick to it
Check Dr Ken Berry's channel. IIRC, he talked about a website where you can finds lists of keto or carnivore friendly doctors.

@@geangray1534 how exactly do we find this?
Starting out, I think I could do 6 and increased from there. Most ever in one session was 42. Most in one day was 30 in morning, 30 in afternoon then 40 at night. That’s my personal record.
Need to average 2,740 a day. I can do that.
thanks awfully, that's a huge help

Stop your fructose and glucose intake, sleep regularly, use morning and evening light to regulate your hormones/cortisol.

Dr. B, cutest woman on RUclips, I cannot drink coffee without some form of sweetener. I use a little blackstrap molasses and some half & half in my two large cups of coffee each day. I've cut out most of the other obvious forms of sugar-related foods. But is total denial of anything like this necessary? My A1C is a respectable 5.5 (I would like it lower). Does cutting out things like molasses with my morning coffee impact anything on the margin? Love your videos. Very pertinent content.

You are stunning 😍 thank you for the information
Have a sustained calories deficit while eating healthy food. 100% successful.
Yes
One question that comes to mind: if cortisol is highest after waking up in the morning is it best to wait until later in the day for such intentional, artificial spikes or is it just as beneficial to do so right after waking?
this is a good question.
some might suggest that doing something that spikes cortisol in the morning would be OK, because that leaves a longer period of the day where it isn't spiked at all.
Does this mean fruits are bad?
What about wine ? Is that the same sugar ? Does alcohol stress out body and make more cortisol ?
Hey Dr Boz
Do you know anyone that has tested the olive oil in our “Seasons” brand sardines ?
I hear that olive oil is replaced often with seed oil because of cost
And because corporations are inherently evil
Anyho. Just wondering
I’ve heard this too, but not just in cans of sardines. Abut in actual bottles of oil that’s labeled olive oil is actually not olive oil. There’s like a whole “olive oil mafia” out there, selling us garbage and telling us it’s olive oil.

The secret to losing weight is cooking in bulk!!! Everyone knows about all the different diets but when it comes to following it, everyone fail because cooking two to three meals a day is lots of work and preparation! In today’s world, you can’t cook three meals a day for a family! So cook once or twice a week , cook simple food in bulk ! Cook protein in bulk once a week, make salads once a day ! Very simple! All these diet programs send you three recipes for a day, who has time to cook and prepare three different meals a day? 😂👍🏻😋🥗🥚
Fasting is better. 1 to 2 meals a day is great. That cuts down a lot of meal prep.
@@DaisyJane1234 fasting is the best way, I have been fasting 18 hr a day for last 6 years, the problem is most people give up because they don’t know what to eat and get frustrated because of limited food choices and meal preparation! Cooking in bulk and having food in your fridge ready to eat, makes the transition much easier! Not thinking about what to eat every meal! During the week every meal takes me 5 minutes to prepare and I always have a few choices!
Very good points. Add fasting to that regime to further simplify!
@@ianstuart5660 6 years fasting 18 hr a day , BMI 20! If body hasn’t adopted to burning fat , it Will be difficult to fast on carb diet! To adopt to fat burning, you need a plan, simple whole food, cook in bulk always have food ready in fridge , get used to eating leftovers 😂, eat for energy not for pleasure! Salad, protein, olive oil! Start three meals a day, then to two meals a day! Make boiled eggs your snack! 👍🏻🥗🥚
Right, I also try to cook once a day in bulk
Doctor thank you so much ❤

Removing? It doesn't work that way. Get on Keto.

I am type 2. I got my first CGM (Libre 3) about 6 weeks ago. It always reads 30-50 points or even more, lower than finger prick. How can I monitor if these numbers are so far off. I'm on my 3rd sensor... all the same 30-50+ point lower?
The cortisol study- does it answer the question whether the increased cortisol is from the fat or the cause of the fat?
Fat doesn’t exude cortisol.
I've always heard that Where you store fat is largely genetic, so I don't think cortisol tells our bodies so much "where" as "how much".
All that glucose that the body converts to fructose is so that the liver can convert that to FAT. First contributing to fatty liver disease, then to more belly fat

Visceral fat is not the same as belly fat! That soft flab just under your skin is not visceral fat.

There is no such thing as spot reduction
Adding fructose to your diet is bad but fruits have high nutrient density and medium or low caloric density.

When you can't make cortisol and almost died, you get sick of cortisol being demonized so much. You can have belly fat without blaming cortisol.
Years of high cortisol and mine tanked. But, those stressfully high cortisol years did create belly fat. I've never heard of someone that doesn't make it at all. Or did stress tank yours too?
Great video and explanation based of logic. This lady is very convincing. Actually she is so convincing and border coercive that I feel my cortisol rising just by watching.
