I filled in my pip review form in January, and still haven't heard anything, nearly five months later. I've got Sacroiliitis which is like arthritis in the base of the spine which is really painful at times, and if I do manage to sleep, I wake up in pain. Also, I have depression and anxiety and that's bad just now. I have a hiatal hernia which can cause me to inhale my stomach contents when I'm asleep. I regularly wake up coughing foul tasting stuff up and having to sit up and cough the foul tasting stuff out of my lungs, I often don't get back to sleep. Finally, I've suffered with really bad migraine since I was 14, and been medicated for that ever since. I am really worried they'll take the pip off me soon, and it's aggravating my depression and lately I've really felt like ending it all. If I try to get a doctors appt, I'm told there isn't any for 3-4 weeks, and if you're lucky enough to get an on the day appt after queuing on the phone at 8am, you will have a maximum of ten minutes with the doctor, and I've been told in the past that I'd have to make another appointment for all my other issues that can't be crammed into ten minutes. I worked until 5 years ago, paid taxes just like everybody else.
And now this worry about my pip just makes me feel that I'd be better off dead.

Dear Diesel, it is tough, please don't give up, sleep on more pillows to elevate your body when you sleep, works wonders for the reflux, also try NOT to eat food that aggravates it. Try exercise for the arthritis, it's slow but will help and do some nice stuff that you enjoy each day. Try to achieve one thing a day, however small, it gives a little boost of confidence, hugs, x

Easiest way to deal with an assessment is to ask for it to be recorded. I have been involved in multiple assessments over last 16 years. One assessment went to tribunal because the assessor lied and said I presented no evidence. The DWP wanted my PIP stopped because of the claim their was no evidence to support my claims. I pushed for tribunal and 3 days before the hearing, they conceded because the recording documented I offered the evidence but they refused to either look at it or acknowledge it.

They pay the £80 for each refuse it's bonuses so they may have a task of too 5 refuse per month each O.T ,you right when you said people ask to be record it so you have evidence.

I got a letter last weekend and it was for the 20 of November and asked forgot to be recorded maximums told me to ring DWP on the Monday. I spoke to a case worker and he phoned me back and said yes it would be recorded. On the Tuesday I got a phone call from Maximums asking if a trainee could listen in I said yes. The woman new nothing about it being recorded, I recorded it as they said I could on the Saturday. You only get a phone assessment now.

If you feel up to it try again but this time get yourself a citizens advocate to assist you -I used to be an advocate .and accompanied many people to tribunals -all passed .An advocate can speak up for you If you have MH issues - Apply to 'MIND' or you could try 'TURN2US . When a person suffers with MH issues they cannot do anything reliably it is worth mentioning this. Maybe try again in the new year.

The presenter of this video has a great voice, (be great for audiobooks, of which I'm an avid listener)concise in conveying the message, friendly and reassuring. I have my PIP telephone interview tomorrow and am really nervous,to be honest. The extra financial help would be so beneficial in my case, but to go into an interview situation, (which i have never been good at really, and have not had much practice at either) discussing personal issues regarding mental health with a total stranger, is truly daunting, as well as embarrassing. My reason for claiming is also physical , so having to be concise and organised, to navigate the "tacticts" as you call them, (also having read some of the comments of other claimants experience, brings to mind the little red riding hood and the cunning old big bad wolf [i can still remember the saliva dripping from those big sharp teeth😮) Thanks for your advice regarding being prepared prior to interview. I have collected as much medical information as i can, as i feel it important to use proper medical terms which best describe my condition/s. Wish me luck, and feel free to drop me any tips. Thanks again.

Both my mum and I are on PIP. Will this be a problem if I claim Carer's Allowance for looking after her? I'm worried because I just received a PIP review form to fill out, and I noticed one of the questions asks if you have pets to check if you are able to care for someone else.

    • @kirstyali7031

Yes carers can claim PIP. I know this for a fact.
Also let's not forget that carers are often more susceptible to disabilities than others, especially mental health and the hidden/physical disabilities commonly associated with high levels of stress.

It doesn't add up. However up to you, you'll only know once you apply. Good luck

Copd causes shortness of breath on exertion, so mobility and activity’s such as bathing getting dressed ect are difficult. It also causes extreme fatigue because your body is working harder to breath. Hope this explains it.

These assessments are there purely to lower or eliminate your payments. They will lie and will make up anything that gives zero or low points. … the only counter is to record the interview. Which can be done by a number possible ways. Every single one of these interviews is principally designed to twist and make money for the assessor company. They want to every last detail about but give little about the person interviewing you. Ok some have quite badly attacked and even rumoured murdered for faking answers that were in fact the company line. Understandable however due to the large number of deaths after these rogue assessments. A little bit of justice…. But you will notice when one these fake professionals get stabbed or maimed there is nothing in the press.

Clearly you believe people claiming this benefit are just 'at it' and you haven't gone through this process yourself. I have. Was dismissed as a fraud and a liar, even at tribunal, simply because I had difficulty in expressing how sick I was. I'm grateful to all who help those of us disabled with completing these forms and dealing with assessments which are largely cruel and degrading. Yes, there will be some who fraudulently claim, and no doubt some will be successful, but there are many, many more genuinely ill people who's claims are dismissed, causing so much stress and hardship their health is made worse
