Oh, Brian, you got me teary-eyed once again. 😀 The ending is just so overwhelmingly beautiful. As is the rest of the video. I felt everything you've said and filmed. Thank you for an amazing experience! Kudos! Matej
The scenery on the way to Barcroft Station was incredible and that night sky just takes your breath away. I'm thrilled at the result you obtained after going to so much effort to get it. It truly is a beautiful target. Your narration is outstanding. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us. Keep up the great work Brian, and we're all looking forward to your next video!!
one of the most beautiful video I’ve ever seen, this video is so well made that almost made me cry. The image you did is a beauty, congrats. Please you have to do other videos
Subbed.. well put together video with some amazing footage & music. Quality image at the end too, with really nice looking stars. Look forward to seeing more from your channel. Clear skies!
Stunning footage and editing! So much, from the amazing video of the scenic drive up - to the bristlecone pine notes - to the beautiful imagery of Barcroft and the finale of the Helix nebula. Bravo
Wow. I got this in my recommendations, watched the video. The quality is very high, I thought this channel is very popular at first. Very good work, this must be more popular.
Wow! I just discovered you and am very impressed by your wonderful video, Inspirational! Living in Canada I have very limited time to capture the Helix Nebula and also need to fight some light pollution as well in my bortle 4 skies. Planning to get to California in 24 for the eclipse and will bring my rig down there to try and get some time on the Helix. Thanks for producing this video.
Incredible picture and just an amazing video bro. That's so awesome that they open it up for you guys one week of the year, I bet it is so worth it. Those time-lapses and night shots are just amazing too. Thanks for sharing man. I would absolutely love to go to a place like that. Clear skies
Thanks! Sure - for the time lapses, they were 8 second exposures at f/1.4 or f/1.8 at ISO 3200. For the Astro image, it was 216 individual exposures at 5 minutes each, totaling 18 hours of exposure time
Just subscribed after watching this...wow what pristine skies compared to my light polluted ones. Your videos aren't just videos...they tell a story bravo!
Great story telling! Wonderful video. I have a video on the same target. Had to travel a lot less time, but I also got very few hours on the target as it doesn't rise above 17 degrees above the horizon over here. 7 hours of driving. Wow. That is dedication.
Thanks Martin! I really enjoyed your video as well, just left a comment for you. So neat how this hobby led us to create two videos of nearly identical journeys to capture the same target, just on different sides of the world.
Nice video & great shot of the Helix to, I finally managed to get an image of it after wasting our time on a long journey to image it only to find that I can get it from home just!! I would have liked more data but shooting through a load of light pollution & at 17 degrees it were never going to be the best. Clear skies!!
It's a tough target for much of the world, part of the reason I decided to image it from here is because it's much farther south than my house and actually got as high as 30º. Thanks for watching!
Hi Brian, I’ve made the trip to the Barcroft Field Station many times but I’ve always had my eyes glued to the road, your drone video really shows the grandeur of the scenery. I enjoyed seeing the Milky Way moving across the sky and your image of the Helix Nebula was simply beautiful! I plan to make the trek again next year, hopefully I’ll see you there too :)
It is such a shame and loss and makes me even kinda angry that people are almost robbed of this stunning view of the night sky. That should be the most natural thing in the world. But yet barely anybody has even seen the Milky Way with their own eyes. I have just been out during the weekend. But the sky was more like a Bortle 4 to 5. And yet some people arrived at night being obviously stunned by so many stars. I find that interesting: On one hand it makes me happy to see that people are still interested in those things (and honestly I wouldn't have put those girls into that category) and yet it was sad, because it was obvious that they had never seen it before. Let alone the fact that the night sky can be SO MUCH more mind blowing.
This is a pro-level documentary video of the Barcroft High Altitude Star Party; it practically deserves an Oscar. I'm just floored. At 6:15, it looks like you captured some noctilucent cloud activity!
Astro "Photograph" is pretty much DEAD ! I'm pretty sure you mean "DIGITAL IMAGE CAPTURE" ! Which is something TOTALLY DIFFERENT 🤔 (I would love to spend a week up there for Sky watching! But..... due to a serious defect in my lungs, I have difficulty breathing even at 7,000 feet!)
Oh, Brian, you got me teary-eyed once again. 😀
The ending is just so overwhelmingly beautiful. As is the rest of the video.
I felt everything you've said and filmed.
Thank you for an amazing experience!
Kudos!

Man, those words are too kind. Thank you so much, Matej!
Easily the most gorgeous astro video on RUclips.
Too kind, Jeff!
What a great story. The picture looks amazing.
What a magical place to be able to spend a week imaging. Super image of the helix - a favorite target of mine also.
Cheers, Logan! Subbed to your channel.

Thank you so much! Yes, it's an unforgettable experience every year. I'm sure you have similar spots in Arizona!
@@absorbingphotons How did you capture so much detail in the video and time-lapse shots? Can you share your settings for these? Thanks.
Thanks! Sure - for the time lapses, they were 8 second exposures at f/1.4 or f/1.8 at ISO 3200. For the Astro image, it was 216 individual exposures at 5 minutes each, totaling 18 hours of exposure time
@@absorbingphotons 8 second exposures bring out that much detail in the milky way? I'd never have believed it.
@@absorbingphotons Some of your footage looks like real time video yet still captures detail. I'm very confused by this.
Unreal image! Definitely some of the darkest skies out there with that elevation
Thank you! Yes, spoiled for sure 🌌
Well done! Excellent footage and narration of the area. Would love to make a trip out there some time.
Thanks for sharing. Made me drool for your location
Beautifull video and final result!

I agree! All we can do is try to spread awareness about preserving our night skies and fighting light pollution.
Your lap top screen is a light polluter!
Not mine, but ok :)
