4K Time Lapse of the Aurora over Northern California | May 10th 2024
On May 10th, 2024, the strongest geomagnetic storm in 20 years created ultra-rare aurora borealis over middle latitudes, including Northern California. My wife and I drove to a dark sky location in the Tahoe National Forest to view this event. I captured this 4K time lapse at around 10:00pm local time. Multiple news outlets, including ABC and NBC, broadcasted this footage on live television and social media.

How It Feels to Watch a Total Solar Eclipse

On this astrophotography adventure, I set off on a cross country journey to photograph the total solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024. What I captured was more than I expected, but in a different kind of light. Capturing A Rare Comet Pass With My Telescope
Просмотров 8282 года назад
In this video, I pull an all-nighter on a work night to try and capture a very rare cosmic event: Comet C/2021 A1 Leonard passing by a star cluster known as Messier 3. This event only happened once for a short window of about 3 hours, so I brought out my telescope to do astrophotography to capture it. I believe this sound is from interstellar, mostly space is a beautiful place of mysterys that we yet to discover, wonders that amaze anyone, and adventures that bring satasfaction and appreciation, though it to be dangerous we people take risk to see the wonderful outcomes, climbing mountains, swimming to dangerous depts, and flying beyond the skys, we yet be afraid but we yet to discover, the beauty of a planet is worth every second we get to experience, the shinning stars with blazing heat, the planets and undiscovered solar systems, the beautiful colorful nebula's the dull yet beautiful gas passing in space, and the boundless possiblities all in a dangerous yet beautiful void we call space. we may have barely reached the surface but we shouldn't take the opportunity for granted, because the journey is yet to be completed.

    • @absorbingphotons
      @absorbingphotons 2 месяца назад

      Thank you - this was 800 individual frames at 2 seconds each, f/1.4, and ISO 3200. I used a 2 second interval, which basically told the camera to shoot the next frame immediately after the current one finished. Based on past aurora shooting I knew that around 2 seconds was short enough as to not have aurora details (like the pillars) get too blurry, while also being long enough to capture the faint light of the scene.

    Thanks for sharing your story. I have the same feelings surrounding eclipses. My dad introduced me to astronomy and I love experiencing eclipses. I can hear his voice as the eclipse progresses. It's a nice memory to have. This was my 4th total eclipse, two were with him. I've stopped trying to get the perfect picture and spend my efforts trying to get as many people as want, to experience them and see them through a telescope. I still take pictures though. I went to Texas for this one. The cloud forecast caused us to drive 4 1/2 hours northeast and we were blessed to have clear skies during the entire event. Drove through a huge hailstorm after on our way back to our lodging. I'm looking forward to the next one. DG ruclips.net/video/ghWBesyR0Cw/видео.html

    I wanted to chase the eclipse so so so much. We looked at a flight that would cross the path on its way to Austin Texas. I couldn’t get myself to spend that much money ($2500 for two first class) with nowhere to go or no one to visit and not sure what the view was like. Thank you for this video. ❤❤❤❤❤🌞🌚 God’s real and Jesus Christ is His son. They created this perfect miracle and this beautiful earth we live on. I’m glad you got to experience this celestial event with loved ones.

    Definitely a lot of planning goes into successfully getting to experience a total solar eclipse let alone capturing one on film. Our first was in 2017 & couldn't make this last one happen, mostly because we'd put everything into successfully making it to & capturing the last one. Glad you where able to experience it firsthand. I did my research, learned how to use a DSLR camera, planned photo sequences out, watched videos, and looked at hundreds of photos. I had seen two partial eclipses and 1 annular eclipse. Even with all that I was not prepared for what I witnessed in the path of totality in Carbondale, IL that afternoon. It took my breath away and left me damn near speechless. It looked nothing like I thought it would. I had to say out loud, do what you came here for (my planned photo sequence). There are no words that could accurately describe the sight of totality. Maybe stunningly beautiful. If an accurate to the eye photo was somehow possible it wouldn’t be believable. A sight that made me, a 28 year old man, have tears. And this video was incredibly well done.

    People who haven't seen one don't understand what's so spectacular about it. They see the pictures and think, "So, a white spot turns dark. What's the big deal?" But cameras just do NOT capture the dazzling light show that we see. Bailey's beads look like some static white poking through on a black sphere. But, it is indescribably beautiful. Fantastic pictures. If only they began to capture what you actually see. Video was well made, too. Subscribed.

    Get ready to go to Egypt, on Monday August 2th 2027 the total solar eclipse will last 6;23 minutes making it one of the longest ever and you can setup camp near the pyramids. I love your video and the passion you demonstrate putting family, logistics and technology together to make it happen. I was in Madras Oregon in 2017 and in Eagle Pass Texas on April 8th and Yes!
