    What's YOUR favourite camera for Astrophotography? Let me know in the comments below! :)

    I love this 533MC Pro camera so much, that now I have the 533MM Pro to pair with it :D. It's an excellent camera, and for the Galaxies era it's excellent with an RC 6 or RC8. In the future I want to add a camera with the IMX 571 color sensor for large fields.

      Thanks so much for tuning in and sharing your thoughts! Yes, I also have the 2600MC Pro and its been fabulous! Was thinking of the 533MM, like you, as a companion to the MC! Hope you're having fun with it! Best wishes from Scotland! :)

      Hey Tiago! Thanks for watching and yes, the IMX 571 is a great sensor…love my 2600 MC too, but I see that Player One has a new version out too, so might be worth a look! Best of luck mate and have a great day! 😀

    This camera was recommended to me by many when I started imaging a few years ago and just love the images it has produced. I paired it with an Astro-Tech AT65EDQ scope using an ASIAIR Pro..

    I am a proud owner of ASI533MM, and I simply adore it. No amp glow, no darks, simply shoot and get the best pics. The best thing I love is its square format. I was bit scared about it, but once I started taking pics, I believe, its the best format for AP.

    I’ve had this camera for a few months and I love it. One thing I have noticed is when I process my images in Siri, after integration of Lights and calibration frames, I have hardly any distortion on the edges. I do not have to crop my image before I stretch and color calibrate. I am not sure if this is because of the square sensor or some other reason. Also nice to know I don’t need Darks when processing, because of no amp glow, but in truth, I do throw a few Darks in. More so from habit. Excellent video.

      Thanks for tuning in mate and glad you enjoyed my video! Yes, I love my 533 and as you say, the calibration frames are a breeze with the lack of amp glow...like you, I also only take bias and flats and it works out just fine for me! :) Have a great day and best wishes!

    My first and only astro camera is the 294 mm pro, produces great images and apart from amp glow, which is taken care of with calibration frames no issues at all, fantastic camera.

      Nice choice! I'm currently considering a mono camera purchase and the 294MM keeps coming across my radar and have seen some stunning images! Glad you've found success with it and thanks for tuning in! :)

    I just ordered this as my first cooled camera to use with my hiking backpack setup (I don't drive, so I bus to darker parts of my city).
    I'll be using an Askar FMA180 and Skywatcher 72ed with it to start, and eventually I'd like to round things out with an Askar FRA300 (all being used with my HEM15 mount).
    I see you got good results with that 135mm lens, so I'm hoping I'll also manage good results with my FMA180! Pixel sampling was not something I considered much before for deep sky as my other limitations were far bigger obstacles, but now I guess I'll have to start learning about things like drizzling.

    Nice review. I really enjoy using my 533 and love the square sensor. I was initially a little frustrated too that I had to purchase an additional power supply, however I don’t use it anymore as I now power it off the ASI AIR, leaving me with a power supply that I should really look to sell. Moving forward, if I purchase something like the mono 533, I’ll again use the ASI Air, saving me a few quid. If all cameras came with power packs I think there’d be quite a few sat in drawers. With hindsight, perhaps ZWO have got this right after all. 👍🏻 Noddy

      Cheers, Noddy! Appreciate your comments and thanks for tuning in! Yes, like you I've been debating a mono 533, as I like the framing of the sensor too...but still on the fence and weighing up the options! Anyway, wishing you clear skies and have a great weekend! :)

    Looking to add my first astro cam. Currently using an At80ED scope on a AM3 mount with ASI Air Plus. I'm a little confused as to why you need an extra power supply. Can't the Air Plus supply the power?

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  7 месяцев назад +1

      Highly recommend the 533 mate, it’s a great choice. Additional power supply is needed when I use the camera on my other setups with a Mini PC, but yes the ASIAIR can power it just fine… hope that helps and thanks for tuning in!

    Ive only used this camera for a couple of tries .. i went color for same reason you did and the complexity of editing monochrome, was another point. I don't think its the sharpest image and resolution is not as high as other cameras . Its lower noise and sensitivity is a plus but its not as noiseless as i was led to believe when i was making the purchase. I will hope for dark moonless night that i can get it out to a dark site to really test it. i Bought a cheaper light pollution filter (under 300CAD)and i think its a bad deal cause its not generating what i expected, compared to my Canon50d in same light polluted skies unfiltered. Ive purchased so many upgrades to my kit while waiting for clear skies its a bit of a massive learning curve now. New 10 inch Newtonian heated mirrors mod kendrickastro and the EAF and various filters that ive got to try now when permissible . Im going to stop buying till i get chance to use some of this stuff for a bit.

    Great video. I have the 533MC as well, and love it. I noticed you have a electronic focus motor on your camera lens. Do you have any details about the 3D printed mounting brackets and belt for adjusting the focus of the camera lens? I have the canon 200mm f/2,8L lens which takes great astro photoes, but it is a drawback with the manual focus. I have the ZWO electronic focus motor as well, so only need to make a mounting for it for the lens :)

    Would this work with my Meade 10" LX200? Is having the Asair a good idea? Is a laptop neccessary? @1:23 what caused the damage to the camera? Poor workmanship by the manufacturer or just a lot of use by the operator? Thanks 😊

      @scotiaastro  2 дня назад +1

      Thanks for tuning in! Yes, I’d highly recommend the 533MC and it works great on SCTs…the marks on the camera are from an old dew heater ring, some of the adhesive was left behind, just been too lazy to wipe it off! lol!

  • @vampolascott36

    I just recently bought the 533 and I'm a little worried that the sensor may be too small. I will be using this camera with my Takahashi FC-100DC refractor.

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  Год назад +1

      Heard some great things about the FC 100...best of luck with it! :) If you check out the framing wizards in Stellarium or Telescopius, they have virtual framing assistants that show you the field of view with any telescope and camera combo, so you can check that out if you're worried about the sensor size of the 533...thanks for tuning in and have a great day! :)

    Your 533 looks to be loosing some of its lacquer finish, is this through use or environment ? do you still recommend this unit or has it been superseded by a newer model.

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  6 месяцев назад

      Hi mate, thanks for tuning in! Lol! I can see what you mean about the marks on the camera, but its actually just residue from a dew ring I used to have attached to it...some of the glue refused to budge, so its not the camera surface itself. I would definitely recommend the camera today...it's 'relatively' affordable as dedicated cameras go, no AMP glow, low noise and great quality images! Hope that helps, but any other questions, feel free to reach out. :)

      @@scotiaastro Thank you, I'm currently deciding on replacing my 314L with this one shot unit, it burns me though that I have a full set of Baddar 1 .25 Narrow band and LRGB in a Attik filter wheel. these sadly will become redundant so I guess you can see my dilemma over the MC or MM from ZWO. Whats your thoughts please?
