Star adventurer best astro investment I have made - always gives me good shots, even on poor nights up in the beacons. Its quick and easy to setup, takes camera and /or small telescope, light and portable, batteries last for ages, different speeds for sidelreal, lunar, solar and time lapse.
But the polar scope cover and battery cover are cheap and nasty, ocassionaly accidently switch on the mount when in the case

Just to clarify for beginners "in the crosshair of your polarscope" It really should state "in the correct position of the reticle" The polar axis will be in the crosshair. Polaris will be somewhere in the circle.
Also a polar finding app shows where the position that polaris needs to be in that circle relative to the time and GPS location. Before I had a tracker with polarscope, I couldn't figure out how to use the app because it only shows position to place in reticle and does not do anything else.
It left me confused because I was outside with a camera trying to figure out which stars was polaris....doesn't work that way! LOL.
Not sure where you are, but I am also north at 51 114 west
Star Adventurer is a killer little tracker, I got mine this past July and got excellent results first try, with a Canon 7D Mkii and 300mm lens
That single frame of M31 is great. I am using 120 sec subs and the background is not even close to as dark. I currently have 40 120's of M31 haven't processed yet, but they are not nearly as clean as that shot of yours.

I'm stumped how some people (Peter Zelinka) with this kit can only get 30 second shots, you get 2 mins, and astrobackyard 4 mins. Without Auto-guiders. Is that testament to the quality of the drives...hit and miss? Which is what's made me hold off buying one, and looking more at £1000+ units, and sacrifice mobility.

Any tips on how to find your deep sky object Alyn? With big telescopes viewfinders help, plus Stellarium/Cartes du Ciel can guide the mount to the right region getting you very close, but how to do this with a camera on a Welsh mountain is unclear to me. @@AlynWallace It's really good pal, if a little heavy. It's probably a bit more suitable for the longer lenses like your 100-400 but I have used an old 300mm f4 on Andromeda the other week & it came out really well, with no trailing at all at 2 minutes.I never got even that with the Astrotrac, but I blame the horrible polar scope for that. I even got some detail on the Ring Nebula (M57) even though it's tiny through a lens. I will be limiting all of my deep space exposures to 2 minutes, to be more consistent.

Hello Allan absolutely love your videos.
I too have a star adventure pro and am using my Nikon d7500 with a Nikon 55-300 lens lowest f stop is f5.6 with a lens warmer.
I have spent 3 months trying to get an image of a galaxy. But I am really really struggling. I am not using a ball head and simply mounting straight to the slide mount exactly like you have done in the later part of this video.
My issue is locating the target galaxy. I use stellarium to roughly find the location of the galaxy. However it’s not visible in live view. So I am having to take a photo zoomed out then try to find a star pattern on the photo and try to match it to a star map that’s near my target. This is exceptional difficult once I know where I am I them move the camera on the declination and left and right until I think I have found it. This takes me from the point of a proper polar alignment about 3 hours to do. Using this method above is also very difficult because of the orientation of the camera vs the star map I use on stellerium.
On the plus side I am getting nice sharp stars with not trails so I am getting close to where I need to be. Can you give me any advise on how to locate my target galaxy quicker because by the time I find it in the sky it’s getting very late into the night or the weather conditions change. I know your a really busy man but if you can give me any advise it would be very very helpful.
    Kind Regards
    Tom

    Another great video.
I have one question, though: how do you keep the filter dew free? I myself use a small fan attached to a second tripod and pointed right at the filter. But that's a lot to carry.
Or does a dew heater produce enough heat to keep the lens and the filter dew free?

When I stand still at night and stare at any star in the sky, they move around with like an anti gravity type movement but still stay in their respective spots..why do they move like that?? Does anyone know the answer to my question?

What does the equatorial mount give you? Looking on Amazon the kit with it is 3 times the price of the Pro kit

The William Optics Z61 pairs really well with the SW SA.

I have done the same thing Z61 with entry level DSLR - never fails to give me some decent shots, even on poor nights.

    Good night my friend
I saw your video on yt about sky watcher (vlog 30). I would very much like to buy one to use here in Brazil, but I have not found any shutter release cable compatible with Sony alpha for the timelapse function. I also opened the instruction manual for the skyguider and sky watcher tracker, and none of them had a sony alpha compatible cable. Only canon and nikon.
Do you know if there is a compatible cable for sony alpha cameras for this tracker?
    thankful

Nice dude, ive got the original star adventurer but cant get anything sharp over 2 minutes at 50mm never mind 400! Something loose in reticle, when you turn it you can see it jump sometimes so need to figure out how to tighten it and recenter it

Hi Alyn, total novice here. Could you recommend a tracker for the Nikon P1000, I'd like to track the sun, moon and wondering stars (planets). Thankyou in advance.
