Its worth pointing out that Jiseok's team report, he started out with tera flying garganacl, but had trouble with electric types, then had the revalation of Tera poison Garganacl in response to the rise in glimmora and t-spikes meowscarada in Asia. Funnily enough tera poison was also a great matchup against the sudden rise of tarous and the already-abundant of fighting types and offensive meowscarada in the west, so no wonder its the MVP
@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 that's fair, I still mostly see steel but faced a few poison mirrors so far myself, definitely my favorite Tera on it at this point in time
@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 don't forget fire Tera. For fairy resist, boosted heat wave and with levitate eliminating ground weakness that fire Tera would have had.
I don't have enough total data to say definitively yet, I think this VGC format has more switching in general than in previous formats as a result of the ability to Terastallize and change up the typing dynamics on the field and a generally more defensive metagame. This makes 'entry hazards' better than they've ever been in VGC. It's not as strong as singles, but I do think there is a lot of exploration still to be done on other types, especially with the Hisuian mons, when available, who can set them as a secondary effect of an attack.
Another good point is that Meowscarada and Glimmora pair quite well together in terms of countering the weaknesses of each other, or countering the same pair on the opposing side.
I should watch more of this. I honestly can´t keep up with how fast the metagame is changing nowadays with all different series and stuff. Where have the times gone when we had one specific metagame series per year?😂
I hope that they offer DLC for this game and that they keep the pokemon in competitive limited for a LOOONG time (tied to whatever they factor in with the dlc). This meta is very fun and refreshing compared to previous generations
I have a lot of faith in Glimmora. Mortal Spin guarantees sash breaking and poison to both opponents on the field, and venoshock can come in clutch with such a high sp atk stat.
In a tournament livestream, wolfey was asked if he had a rival and he said he used to have one named ray rizzo but he’s dead now then elaborated that he’s not really dead but he retired to Japan and only plays for two weeks then disappears. The beef is always right below the surface with these two lol
Ray Rizzo won 3 world championships (and one of them he took away from Wolfe and while Wolfe is not salty about it anymore since he won one now) and Ray is humble about it and admits he’s washed up now. Since Ray Rizzo doesn’t play anymore it doesn’t make sense. Wolfe just abuses his 1 win 🙄 makes Pokémon his life mission and had a horrible SwSh run
@@duckymomo7935 "Horrible SwSh run." Yeah right. He got 2nd @ Collinsville. Won PC2. Top 32 @ SLC. Top Cut EUIC. 3rd @ Secaucus. Top Cut NAIC. Which I understand - he's a face of the community because he's involved, and he tends to go around - flexing? if that's the right word - that he's a world champion. But you can't go around saying he's a bad player when he's still the only player to have won every level of tournament and still consistently places well in the vast majority of events he attends. And I agree, 2016 was a pretty long time ago, but think about the title "World Champion". Remember, only 9 trainers have EVER won masters division worlds, and if you include every world champ including the Junior/Senior divisions that only brings the number to 32 invididual trainers. I do have some fondness of abilities like Glimmora's or Arboliva's. Setting an effect after being hit kinda makes one be sort of interested in making it better, and I feel like it can open the space for moves like Endure to rise, as it allows the user to activate their effect while ensuring they're not knocked out. Though the power of Protect is still strong.
Been using Glimmora on every team since launch. Sash, Life Orb, Expert Belt all viable. Sash is the best. It’s got such a great move pool for covering gaps on your team. I’m glad it’s getting props now!
Over the last few weeks I had been messing with a toxic spikes meowscarada and it is really effective. The poison damage is often times the difference in online battles for me
One of my favourite Pokémon of all time is Shedinja. It’s so sad that we’re missing out on it this season, but I guess it would just too broken to pair terastilization with wonderguard
Steel+Resto Chesto Dondozo isn’t effected by this it can just rest away when low and Tera Steel and proceed to stall and attack. Especially if it’s packing EQ over order up.
Is it cuz of Dondozo? EDIT: figured as much lol. I mean poison is a pretty common counter against bulky mons in singles so I’m not surprised that it’ll transfer to vgc as well since Dozo is so prevalent. I haven’t tried pvp yet and I don’t really play vgc so I didn’t even know Dozo can’t switch out when he got Giri but yeah that screams “poison me” to me
Dozo both and against it (dozo will outlast a poisoned Pokémon and dozo will get worn down by poison and especially salt cure) That also explains why salt cure is so common/broken now During dynamax, games will be as short as 2 turns to as long as 6 turns, if you’re lucky Tera doesn’t deal as much damage (and even though we have make it rain), Pokémon games last longer these meta from 4-10 turns
Bro you should work on that title because I got this video con my recommended and my reaction was "is this guy drinking poison?" until I saw the Glimmora in the corner and realized it's a pokemon video.
This is false, Toxic has been super abused in S/M, specially paired with Celesteela that was unkillable in some situtations if the counters were down alerady.

Glimmora stocks^^^^
There's not nearly as much switching right now as gen7's Incineroar meta.
When Kleavor becomes legal its gonna be fire
@@mintx1720 Incineroar is an outlier, for sure. But I mean compared to a normal meta going back to Gen 5, etc.

If toxic did some damage initially (and even could be super effective for the initial damage) would it be as good as salt cure?
It would be far too powerful, especially in singles. Please don't introduce ideas like this 😭
Salt cure is broken and they made it broken vs water and steel because water and steel were too good defensively

Glimmora has cool action economy but I find the chance of not being able to sleep/paralyze/burn my opponents dissuades me from using it on most teams.

Simple… make poison good against water, buffing one of the worst types in the game and nerfing one of the best while making sense at the same time.
Protective pads is going to pick up in usage
Heavy duty boots?
It's because of the Dondozo mirror, saved you 13 minutes
Yea I was confused why corrosion has become important
I wish Freeze was just a SpA version of burn.
So... frostbite
No, Sp Att is horrible to use
If you can just cripple offense Pokémon then the game is all about stall and it’s bad enough with dondozo.
