Super explanation of the three tiers. Is there a provision for an applicant to change tiers? For example, if I apply and then get approved for Silver, but decide one year later that I wish to upgrade to Gold, or even Platinum, and have the monies ready for transfer, will they approve this?

I absolutely love this video. I've lived in the west my entire life, first in the states then in Canada. For the last 3 years I have been seriously contemplating moving. There are so many reasons why I want to leave, but the most important one to me is that Canada does not align with my faith and principals as a muslim. I visited Malaysia when I was 19 and loved it so much. I've been planning a trip to southeast asia with my family in Sept... and I am doing so because I want to show them what life could be like somewhere else, how the quality of our life can improve so drastically by changing locations. I want to live in a place where wearing the hijab is normal, hearing the azan is a part of daily life, where there are ample places to pray... I feel our parents moved to the west wanting to give us a better life and alhamdulilah they have, but as the years pass these places no longer serve us... in fact they've begun to feel suffocating. Thank you for sharing this information about the new visa process!!! I am so glad to know they've made getting residency easier. It's something I definitely want to look into in the near future.

@OliveDreams: I sense ungratefulness in your statement made here. You would never have the money or wealth that you have accumulated living either in Canada or Australia to live comfortably in Malaysia if you lived in Malaysia all your life. The reason your parents moved to Canada or Australia is for the opportunities. Now that you had them & created wealth you can spend your twilight years comfortably in Malaysia because you have the money. People who have lived all their lives is Malaysia don’t have the money you have to enjoy themselves. You are ungrateful & won’t be happy anywhere. It’s stifling why? You can practise your own religion anywhere in Canada or Australia, but no you are not happy with that & the reason is that you want everyone else to conform to your views, ideas & beliefs. Stop being a whinging fool.

Love that! We are on a slow travel adventure through SE Asia and at the same time shopping for a place to move to, residence! We have lived in S. Korea for many years and love Asia, missed it during the 3 years back in the US (after retiring from my job in Korea). At first we thought we would move to Makati, Philippines as we have been there many times and is very American-friendly, but we stayed in KL, Penang and Langkawi for 3 months. KL is a very well developed city, at undeveloped cost of living...amazing. Transportation (very important to us) is one of the best in the world. The diversity issue, you spoke very well of, is sublime. Malay/Islam, Chinese/Buddhist and Indian/Hindu...all good. The people are the friendliest in SE Asia, they make eye contact and you can see they are all good & genuine people. We are also not done with our slow travel (currently in Da Nang, Viet) but I already miss Malaysia! Can't wait for the new MM2H program to be released, I already have an agent. By the way Penang is fantastic and when we get a bit older, will move there from KL as it is a bit slower...thanks.

Is one sponsor for 2 of us good? We have no children. The quality of living based in Malaysia with our American currency converts to Malaysian ringgit, we are so excited about it. I hear the health care, dental care system are top notch and way cheaper than America. Foods are delicious and cheap. The nature, mountains, beaches are breathtaking. Malaysians are known for friendly, helpful, respectful, and hospitable. We can’t wait for the day to come. Having lived in America for 33 years, we are looking forward to enjoying our retirement life in Malaysia.

One thing to keep in mind though, tropical diseases like the mosquito borne dengue and the likes are still prevalent in the country, especially in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding areas. What we heard is that the new MM2H regulations are still under review and seemingly was announced too early. At the moment they are apparently not processing anything and await cabinet approval and the MM2H agents do expect an income requirement to be added. Also note that the permanent Residency under the top tier is not guaranteed, it remains an application and insiders believe it is not going to be that straight forward. This could have been more informative IMO. Like what do you get with this visa program is it just temporary residence? Then how do you renew it and can that money be taken out if you need to without affecting your visa status? Are you allowed to work there full time, is healthcare included or provided by the government? Are Children’s education and tuition covered by the government, how are you taxed, is there any language differences we should be aware of etc?

Sorry I don't have answers to questions 2 and 3. As for apartment rentals, you can probably get a 2 bedroom apartment (near city center) for around $700 USD per month, with a 1-year lease. Further from city center will be eveen cheaper, and the apartment buildings are SO nice here! Airbnb is more expensive of course. Overall, super affordable!

Leaving this comment for anyone who comes into contact when bedbugs!
    1) immediately put all of your clothes into the dryer for Atleast 30min high heat
    2) then when you take them out immediately seal them up in a large ziplock or airtight bag. And if you want to keep the clothes keep them sealed for 3 months, if have to wear them then put them in the dryer for 1hr. And do not get dressed in the same room that you found the bugs
    3) dust your bags when diatomaceous earth (DE) if you can travel with it, then that's even better
    4) when you travel keep a set of clothes and underwear in a sealed ziplock in case this happens, don't open and use it unless you come into contact with bugs, after drying your clothes, sealing them, dusting your bag, and washing up, you'll have a ready set of clothes that are bug free.
Don't forget to dust your shoes 👟 with DE. If you're desperate and don't have DE use baking soda

  • @gerrelldrawhorn8975
    @gerrelldrawhorn8975 7 месяцев назад

Saira -excellent presentation. I always suggest that people visit the country and different regions before they make a firm commitment. One important aspect of Malaysia is the fact that it is something of a Confederation that consists of three distinctive regions. West Malaysia is strongly Malay with substantial Chinese and Indian communities. But East Malaysia (aka Bornean Malaysia -Sarawak and Sabah) have more balanced ethnic compositions. In fact Christians are a majority. The largest group are indigenous Dayaks with Chinese and Malays about equal. Both Sarawak and Sabah have State constitutions enshrining freedom of religion, with no preference of any religion.
Generally the religious tensions are lower in East Malaysia. There is now party that pushes Malay superiority or the idea that other people's worship or celebration (even those that involve the eating of pork or drinking) should be of concern to Malays. Issues such as the Bible in Malay using "Allah" for God, or having a vendor that cooks pork in the same food court as a halal vendor are not issues. People attend mutual events and their children attend mixed schools with accomodation for children of all faiths. These are often big issues in other Malaysian States.
They also have autonomy in Immigration, Land Laws, and Tourism.
That means they have their own version of the Malaysian My Second Home Program. It was originally geared for retirees over fifty, but has some accomodations for those down to age thirty (more financial commitments though).
All classes must fulfil the basic financial guidelines. Some older sites may give out-of-date rules. One thing that has stayed the same is a different cost for single (=Si) applicants vs. Couples (=Co).
Currently the financial requirements for a ten year (5+5) Sarawak MM2H visa is
    1) Foreign Salary/Pension of RM7000(Si) or RM 10,000 (Co) each month. That's roughly $1500/$2125 per month.
    OR
One can demonstrate one has a steady foreign savings account of RM 50,000 (Single) or Rm100,000 (Couple)
    2) Establish a fixed deposit in a Sarawak based bank of RM 150,000 (Si) or RM 300,000 (Co). That's roughly US$32.000/$64,000. But one is allowed after 1 year to withdraw 40% of that to cover medical, student educational expenses, or the purchase of property or a car.
Now for those under 50 who can meet the above financial requirements...
    - 30-49 years of age (w/ children) minor dependents must be enrolled in local Sarawak educational institution.
    OR
(w/out children or children enrolled elsewhere) Purchase of Residential Property in Sarawak appraised at price of > RM 600,000 (@$130,000)
    OR
Individual undergoing long-term medical treatment program in Sarawak certified by Private or Gov't physician registered with Malaysian Medical Council.
Anyone on a S-MM2H visa may purchase RESIDENTIAL property in Sarawak. There is a minimal purchase price of RM600,000 in Kuching (Rm500k elsewhere) for landed property; under the land code there is no minimum floor for strata property (condos).
One may apply under a Sarawak licensed agent or a Sarawak Citizen.
There is a security bond guarantee that's variable based on country (roughly RM 500-2500 depending on whether ASEAN or other location) . Local health insurance coverage, a Letter of Good Behavior from original country.
Medical Report taken in Sarawak and confirmed by Government Medical Officer demonstrating the applicant is not using illegal drugs, or has a transmissible medical disease (e.g. STD, Tuberculosis).
Dependents received a one-year educational visa or Short-Term 1 year renewable visa. Children under 21 and a parent of the principal applicant will receive a renewable one year social visit visa.

If your renewal is denied, you would have to leave the country, but you don't lose any property you purchased during your stay.
