Hi Ben. Everything ur describing about Malaysia is true! U have 2b wealthy in the US 2 live in beautiful places. Housing is out of reach. Many people are living in vehicles in CA. Wonderful video Ben. Thank you for sharing such an engaging and insightful perspective on what makes Malaysia truly special. The fresh, vibrant views of Taman Tasik Titiwangsa beautifully capture Malaysia's natural charm. With its rich cultural diversity, and lively spirit, Malaysia continues to live up to its name as the heart of Asia.
The government kept changing the rules for several years, now they have introduced different levels of passes. Sabah and Sarawak have their own schemes with different rules from the West Malaysia (peninsula) scheme.
The highest applicants for MM2H are from China, capturing 40% of the application. There are increasing Japanese and Korean as well, many come here just to enroll their kids in private school so they can be proficient in English, which they can save a lot of money than a private school in Korea. Interestingly some have expressed that they wanted to escape the materialism culture in S.Korea. Japanese dads pays a fraction of the cost to play golf in Malaysia. Interestingly I came across a new poll today from Singapore, that 55% of her citizen would consider moving to Johor if the living cost in Singapore continues to be unbearable.

Nice park views Ben and very solid content..luv it...nxt time maybe can try some vacation places promoting unique airbnb like u know place to stay/ accomodation...
I hope Malaysia stays underrated, and I have 2 theories on why it will. The first, with the exception of the Sarawak MM2H visa, all the other options require substantial bank deposits and purchasing real estate. That "cost of entry" will ensure only higher wealth people come visit Malaysia long term. The second, and its for reasons Ben mentioned, Malaysia isn't really considered a party place. If that's your goal, certain parts of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand got you covered and their requirements to qualify are much lower. Most of the content creators on RUclips covering Malaysia are passing through on a tourist visa....although there are some doing the Rantau Nomad Pass which allows them to stay up to 2 years (maximum).
I don't mind if other people outside Malaysia love or hate Malaysia by either showing good or bad sides of us. However when I look at BKK and Bali how the locals had to cater their "needs, social demands and requirements". That doesn't bode with us at all. The tourists will blend with our pristine culture and religious value. We don't want next generation to lose those two because some gringos manage to change the manner and behavior of the youngs. So, blending with culture and adaptation to the value, is the core of healthy tourism or long term stay.
Reminded me of the South Korean expat couple who decided to make Malaysia their retirement home. I agree, their money goes very far because of the value of our Malaysian Ringgit. lol.
Fantastic idea to learn some bahasa malay. I think Malaysia is much greener with more parks than Thailand. Plus 90 days is better than 60 for a tourist visa. Thailand is now confronted with all sorts of social and crime issues due to the influx of Westerners, including from eastern Europe, in particular Russians fleeing frm army conscription due to the Ukraine war. News reports Russians are conspicuous, literally taken over Phuket, involved in doing biznes, renting buying(?) properties , transport rental biz, etc . Creating discomfort among locals. Watch CCTV vids shirtless Westerners boldly jumped on for quick hijacked, stole thai women's motorcycle parked by roadside. We're they high or desperate? Been in Bkk city shopping centres but could hardly walk leisurely thru amidst melee of locals and tourists thronging thru malls, f&b centres. Bkk chinatown steathly overtaken by mainland Chinese setting up biz and shady triads gang network. A triad headhoncho with mainland China connection with multimilllion underworld biz HQ in Bkk was caught. Millions worth of properties seized by Thai police. News of murder cases involving tourists/expats on Bkk Post, PattayaMail, etc. Scary!😨. Dont misconstrue. The Thais mostly are refined cultured gentle religious pple. Respectful of others. Beautiful scenic landscape away frm Bkk. Touristics places sadly overcrowding. It's just quite some visiting western foreigners causing headache to the local authorities. Nay! No, Nada! We don't want these in Msia. Msia too have burglary, murder cases by foreign workers, but according to Bukit Aman police hq, stats is negligible %age. Safety level quite high. Once caught amidst police and gun throtting POI in downtown LA. Thumping heart! And yes, Ben, spot on. Get the right wholesome foreigners/expats to visit/work, professionals or for retirement purposes. They're absolutely most welcome into the fabric of Msian culture and lifestyle. English language, hey no probs for many even those with smattering English. Tbh Malay language is most easiest for quick learn and to master. For a brief hedonistic fun party break, just hop on a train or cheap flight to nearby Thailand beaches or to Bali-hai😂. Stayed briefly in the Bronx, NuYork, panic got lost alone in Harlem past 11 p.m. A sojourn mid dwntwn Manhatten but overshot train stop at 110 str. Thought won't come out alive!😅 But recent few yrs back Harlem is transfom, right? A frequent incidents in tge US recent school gunshooting with 4 dead in nearby Detroit heart-fainting. Peninsular Malaysia is the end-tip of Asia continent, literally geographically centrestage of Asia dotted with paradiso islands with turquoise sea. Go island hopping to hearts content. Malaysia Iiving up to her famed tagline, 'Malaysia is truly Asia', a melting pot of multitude of Asian and now including worldwide ethnicities and nationality! Am i unconsciously over-promoting my beloved country. The irony of wanting to be underrated! Hmmm. quite 'scary' huh actually? 🤔.
Terima kasih. Sorry about ur experience in US. Must know where to go and never at night on public transportation. Hati-hati di jalan di kota US. The US has great universities & welcomes foreign students!
You hate telling lies so much, telling lies without any evidence. Slandering other countries, keep lifting your butt.
❤
I saw a vlog it was over 200k
Expats who work in indonesia & thai must fluent local language within 6 months. Otherwise their work pass will not be renewed. That’s what i heard directly from bule/falang when i travelled.
If you have been here almost 6 months this year you will need to leave soon being on a tourist visa. Can't stay more then 180 days per year.
thats right bens talking like its so easy to move there for westerners its not because of the visa issues with alot of asian countrys.
Actually my tourist visa is valid until December, which will be over 8 months here in the past year. People who say you can’t stay more than 6 months in a year are just repeating something they’ve read online.

You've found your "home".
100% 🙂
which park (and city) is this if I may ask?
Hi Ben, spend 30 minutes a day learning Bahasa Malay! Go out of your comfort zone!
I'll do my best 🙂
Are you learning Malay?
so how much money a single person need per month to live comfortable? rent, food, utilities, medical..etc. I am also concerned about medical care and was turned off when I saw the video where you stayed and had to change rooms many times due to the smell.. Retirement to me means comfort and I dont want to rough it and I also dont want to spend an arm and a leg. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks!
Sounds like Malaysia is not for you then. I recommend Dubai or Japan or Singapore or...or...or...
@@badnotgood good to know. However, why do you think it's not good for me?
👍
U can start by listening Malay rock song,
Oh?
I'm going to look for Malay rock music.
Lately, I've heard some incredible rock music from other countries where the musicians are playing traditional indigenous instruments.
No instrument even resembles the standard american guitar, bass guitar, drums, keys...
PS: just heard VOB.
Singer/guitar female in headscarf.
Not what I had in mind, but fantastic.
Love it
I'd like to find the lyrics interpreted, have to look.
I see they're all female and big everywhere.
Rock kapak 👍
guys don't skip the ads
The answer to why is because Uncle Roger is from Malaysia 😂😂😂😂
We dont wanna no passport bros
we want passport sis...
Local Malays are like, "There's that crazy American again, walking in the middle of the day." 😂
i never understand the term of expat..or expatriate..need a bright explanation on that..i do understand migrate or immigrants
Same.
don't spill the beans too much on Singapore please; ppl are just happy while they're still earning and the forex margin is still favourable
Malaysia was always having large number of expats. Never a decline except during the pandemic. People from Japan, the UK, EU and the Middle East have taken up residency to Malaysia since they started their MM2H program back in the day. It's just that Americans never knew about Malaysia due to their own lack of research. 😊
'Expats'
Expat? Ypu are a guest of the Malaysian people that's all. Be gracious.
By definition, an expat is a person who resides outside their country of citizenship.
1 usd is 4.24 ringgit. Keep going lower
Dont pls
To learn Malay faster just get a malay girlfriend and quarrel a lot
Malaysia is a TRUELY ASIA....COMPARED TO THAILAND,VIETNAM,INDONESIA,PHILIPINES....reason had been Malaysian consisted of three big races..Malays,Indian,Chinese....besides the outsiders who have settled down here

Ben, let me introduce you to a Malaysian Karen, yes here is the perfect example. 😂
@@FarhiRosleysembunyikaren tu apa maknanya
@@kikokat4366 Untuk American atau org biasa dgn youtube, Karen ni istilah untuk makcik2 yg meroyan xtentu pasai, salunya racist. Try google atau cari dlm youtube nanti.
@@FarhiRosleysembunyi 😆 ok2 got it..cukuplah, dah paham dah, takyah google lagi. Btw saya pun makcik juga tapi takdelah nak meroyan tak tentu pasai. Itulah..spelling pun berterabur, lagi nak condemn org. Makcik suka view video Ben ni pun sebab makcik rasa dia jujur, tak macam sesetengah youtuber lain yg obviously kejar views saja. Niat dia baik kot. It's ok then..we just remain as broadminded viewers & support whatever good cause he does...no harm
We don't want to rely on tourism for growth but tech and industrial growth since those sectors are much more sustainable than tourism. Actually we want to encourage domestic tourism; we want the locals to travel in-house and encourage money flows internally and explore their own country. Malaysia is quite big and a year will never be enough to explore the whole nation.
DON'T BE CONCEITED LAH!
