The Beatles were great musicians, but they were awesome songwriters. The Stones werent exactly terrible. Charlie Watts and Bill Wymann were a good pairing, Keith was the riffmaster and Brian could play many instruments. Mick is one of the greatest frontmen of all time. The Stones music has aged well. Any guitarist who has any musically trained ear at all would be able to play this. Of course, Richards knows the chords, it is a simple song. Playing this by ear would not be a challenge for many people that have any kind of an ear at all.

Like anyone gave a fuck about British bands doing R&B or Blues stuff in '62? Epstein and the Beatles exhausted every label in england, WITH original material and everyone said NO. Stones didn't even have original material. Like the Stones could have walked into a record label in 63 with their blues covers and been signed, let alone made it in america? But you never once have heard the stones giving the beatles props for paving the way for other british artists like themselves. Or thanked the beatles for helping them out in the early days. The first 3 stones albums are a joke besides a couple likeable songs here and there and only 2 or 3 originals? I like a lot of their music, but they're pretentious assholes who think they're the best not realizing they owe a lot to what the beatles did for british bands and for them personally.

I'm not british... I live in LA and was raised in Michigan. The other one off the top of my head is Keith did a guitar interview about his main telecaster, and he had a couple snarky remarks about the beatles being jealous of them getting big. Wish I could remember the exact video but can't recall and am not going to hunt it down. The beatles were never the ones to diss on the stones cause they were jealous... that's laughable coming from the biggest band in the world... the beatles were jealous? The story makes a lot more sense that an arrogant rock band (the stones) were always in the shadow of the beatles... ya, which one do you think is going to be jealous. Beatles being jealous of the stones.. give me a break. I doubt they thought about the stones very much at all.
Every band that doesn't smile, wear matching suits or sing happy pop fluff owes their existence to the Stones. Far more bands than the Beatles influenced, when you think about it (and many of the Beatles 1963-5 boyband originals are completely sappy and forgettable).
are you kidding? The beatles wore suits for one year at the suggestion of Epstein unfortunately. They were wearing leather and tight pants when the ramones were babies. The beatles used a sitar, and then the stones used a sitar. The beatles had the heaviest song in the world (helter skelter) for many years... not sure when that one was topped, if ever. Go listen to jumping jack flash again, and bowie and jagger making out to "dancing in the streets".
