@@shyguy23000001 I'm shocked you did at that point in the season. The one thing I learned from that 2013 Patriots team was to _never_ count them out of a game. I turned off one game that season and it was the Saints comeback. Missed Brady to Thompkins for the win. If that didn't convince you though, there was the 24 point comeback against Denver a few weeks later. This Pats team was by far one of the weirdest of the Brady-Belichick era. Every game felt like an instant classic just about.

Also, they were without Welker, Lloyd, and Hernandez. I fully agree it was amazing a team that had a depleted and pretty inexperienced receiving corp (Edelman being the lone bright spot) made it to the AFC Title Game. Ultimately, the Broncos spared us from getting slaughtered in the Super Bowl. With the way the Patriots offense was that year, we would've been lucky if we scored a field goal against the Legion of Boom.

I was at this game with my roommate from Ohio. It's 26-14 Browns with 2:39 left in the 4th and the Browns are kicking off after a TD. Here is the ensuing conversation at that point:
Roommate: "You guys are gonna win this game. I guarantee it."
Me: "No way dude. The Pats would need to drive down and score a TD, recover an onside kick, then drive down and score another TD all in 2:39 with 1 timeout. There's no way."
Roommate: "You gotta trust me on this one. It's GOING to happen."
The Pats proceed to do exactly what I just said and win. And that day I finally understood, if just for a moment, what it's like to be a Browns fan.

Seeing this comeback reminds me just how odd this Patriots team was in 2013. It seemed like Brady was having to lead the boys back from deficits every other week just about, and if they weren't having to overcome a deficit, they were just in a downright dogfight the whole game.
It's a little sad that the 2013 Pats often get overshadowed by the team that won the Super Bowl the following year (as well as the 2 other Super Bowl winning teams), because, quite honestly, this was one of the most fun teams I've ever watched. Shoot, seeing Dola score that late TD as the whole stadium lost it still has me punching the air in joy 6 years later. Always love seeing great games like this.

    The Browns deserved to win.
Brady was sacked, knocked down, pushed around, and harassed the whole game.
That PI in the endzone that didn't happen?
    Yeah, that was a gift
Wish that kicker would have made that 59yd FG for the win...
    Brady deserves it.

Definitely in the top 3 worst Browns losses since 1999. The other two would be the playoff loss to the Steelers, and the Bears game in 2001. Dwayne Rudd would be #4.

I watched every single patriots game in 2013 and it’s my theory that this game was what ended the Pats session simply because Gronk got a season ending injury and wasn’t back to 100% until about week 6 of 2014. Just a shame that he got injured so much in his prime.

Wish the Browns would’ve kept Chudzinski. The man had the team on the right track. Finished 5-11 with multiple pro bowlers and top 10 passing and a top defense. But then Chudzinski was fired for reasons that doesn’t make sense for me. It was his first year and he showed a lot of promise. Shame.

  • @scmroman

I still remember the anxiety the review of Gostkowskis onside kick gave me while watching this game. This emtire season the team seemed to always be a step or 3 behind, but somehow they came out on top more times than they probably should've.
