Building a guitar solo from a quiet few notes to a blistering scream takes patience, time, and a talent for musical phrasing. It also demands a thorough understanding of how guitars, puckups, and amps work together to create feedback, dissonance, and harmonic resonance. This solo is amazing because it demonstrates all of these qualities. Lots of young (and old) guitarist can demonstrate mastery of some of these qualities, but Grace here demonstrates mastery of all of them. And this is all happening under bright lights, with cameras rolling, for a massive TV audience. She is something special.
I am a guitarist and I think the gtr solo does a great job for this particular song. Yes, you’ll be able to name other more technical guitarists who play at a million miles per hour but I think Grace’s solo was considered and she left breathing space in between. She’s only 18 so she’ll only get better.
As I said before, you play with the heart, passion and emotion that I saw in Santana, Beck, SRV and Hendrix. Music is the human heart speaking, and you're shouting.
Great performance by the whole band and amazing guitar solo by Grace. I love that she doesn't go for the "look how fast I can play" approach, instead she builds up the solo nice and slow, blending in with the music. Reminds me a bit of early Santana.
The tone is good, yes. Way more importantly, her band has more stage presence than she has, which is not a good sign. Get up there and move! Play like it's your last gig. People want to be entertained. Tone is for musicians like myself. It's cool, but without the show biz end...
@@Pamplemousse82322 Hmm...curious if we were watching the same video? Around the one minute mark, you can see her building her solo along with the song. The band is so energetic because they're building the song from her energy. I'm not a full-time musician, but I've shared the stage with numerous national acts. She killed it. She's totally into it and has awesome stage presence!
@@chrisjamessfsd Dude, it really isn't that great. It just isn't. It's lackluster overall. The tone is all I can gather as something to pay attention to. Maybe. Look, I saw Kenny Wayne Shepard when he was 17. He was miles ahead of this video. Miles. I stand by my words...
@@Pamplemousse82322- Nah. What do you want her to do… jump around like a monkey? Plus she had to have her foot on the Wah pedal. Let’s see you do better. 😂 All these armchair quarterbacks in the comment section talking crap is super annoying.
Great Tone. Intriguing & interesting note choices. Nice buildup of the solo from slow & melodic to a more intense burn at the end. Tasty use of the wah pedal. Very musical. A very welcome change from all the high speed shredfests that are so annoyingly popular these days.
I certainly appreciate Ms. Bowers’s grace in dealing with criticism. And someone posted a really mean spirited criticism today that reeked of envy. It was condescending and spiteful and unfortunate. I will say one thing that really bothers me though: I had never heard of her and started researching her and saw that she was all over the place in the press. many people were lauding her as the new great hope in the blues. The new great Hope almost always seems to be a white person. They are often a very photogenic person. Given the talent of people like Kingfish Ingram and Eric Gales, I find this almost like propaganda. We are promoting these young, good looking, usually white people as almost a great white hope in blues. I have nothing against white people playing blues, in fact, I happen to be one of them. But I have to say that the two musicians I mentioned above, to me, are light years ahead of Ms. Bowers. No insult to her. But they are just absolutely stellar musicians who don’t get anything like the same kind of attention. I could also say the same about a somewhat older white woman, that being Samantha Fish. she is also quite amazing. So I don’t want to take anything away from this young woman who could probably blow me off the stage with her guitar playing. But it makes me crazy when the popular music Press makes her out to be like this absolute shining supernova bursting upon the scene when there are players who I think far Outplay her in terms of technique and, more importantly, in terms of feel and vocabulary (Gales, for example throws in stuff from classical music and also world music all the time and it’s amazing how he synthesizes them together ), all over the place. So the next time you are flipping out over the next new talent, take a look at some of the people that the media generally ignore. For every article on Eric, or Kingfish, or Samantha, there are 100, maybe 1000 on Joe Bonamassa, A technically great player who has never surprised me, never opened a larger world for me, and whom I find to be incredibly predictable, even cliche in his playing, although technically quite amazing. Look around! there are a lot of super amazing players you may have never heard of because of the color of their skin, or their looks, or their age. If he were still alive, I would take one Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown over 100 of Ms. Bowers, or 100 of Joe Bonamassas…
Grace is a gifted guitarists who has created a stir in the guitar world. Very popular in the guitar world. I had no idea she was aloud to stay up that late. 🤣🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Her and Jake Kiszka are what the world wants us to think a young guitar player should look and sound like. These kids are so privileged and far-removed from real art, but are surrounded by so much support they’re truly convinced they’ve got it.
People love the ones they copied because the sound was authentic and original. You don’t sit and “grind out” licks others played to make great art. You give the world something human and authentic, with deep genuine feelings you can’t help but resonate with.
Yeah I kept waiting for the "solo" to start, honestly it was just ok if I'm being real about it. I've heard and watched children barely in double digits play not only way more impressive solos, but I've seen them play with more heart and feel than some of the well known veteran guitarists play with. I'm not trying to be mean or take anything away from this young lady, but I gotta be brutally honest here, and all I can come up with after listening to this a few times is... Meh...
The Hendrix and SRV influence is strong with her. I find that anyone holding an SG is probably going to melt your face... except me. If I'm holding my SG, I'm probably apologizing for being terrible or just showing off how cool it looks
I'm not a musician so there may be stuff going on I am missing, as a listener I thought the guitar was ok, didn't blow me away. The trumpet on the other hand, I think that was the star here.
Yeah the trumpet played all the standard notes, was way too loud in the mix, and the note choices tired out the ear pretty fast. Grace Bowers was picking some outside notes, with amazing Guitar tone, and not too flashy or way over the top. The Cry Baby Wah pedal was a really nice touch too.

I think her use of touch, dynamics, and musicality are what makes this good. She's not shredding, clearly. The musicianship and playing what fits without going over the top is what makes her shine here.
I’ve saw her in interviews and immediately liked her. According to the news, she has the opposite effect on people but I didn’t have to listen to her play to know she was legit. She wouldn’t get respect from the people she does if she wasn’t good and I’m kind of jealous lol

Digging that BASS playing!

Wow...these guys and Grace etc. are just cookin'!
Grace's note choice and restraint is a joy to listen to, the whole band is tight af. 🙌💥❤🔥
She could have turned that solo into a personal ego stroke session but chose to be tastier than Carolina barbeque instead. What a pro!
I thought that was absolutely blissful. It was a joy to see so much joy on the band's faces during all that. Thank you.
Wish I could come up with more than saying Wow, but it will have to do for now. Great performance, Grace.
That bass line during the guitar solo!!!
Endea! Fantastic bassist!
The drummer is solid and those two ladies in the rhythm section are all pocket!

Them Changes, Buddy Miles. Hard to beat the 60's music.
