      what happened with you did you update it without an old cpu??

    • @ancientslav4863
      @ancientslav4863 2 года назад +1

      I bought brand new PC cheap for 510$
      Ryzen 5 5600g (Vega 7)
      2x8GB 3200Mhz CL18
      Patriot P300 250GB M2 NVME
      ASUS TUF GT301 CASE
      ASUS TUF B550M-E WIFI
      ASUS TUF 750B 750W PSU
      It usually costs 690$ here but I got a great deal
      I built many PCs in my life, never has this happened to me. All connected and no sign of life. No fan rpm spin since the psu has 0 rpm mode. The 3pin 120mm case fan didn't spin. The motherboard B550 doesn't have any led light or anything. So it appeared like the pc is totally dead. That I thought before I put in the cpu, which came the next day.
      However, I saw many videos of how people post/start their PCs without a cpu, even without ram or a drive! So I panicked and thought something is fried. Either the psu or the mobo. Then I plugged in my keyboard and the led on it lit up saying "updating' (SteelSeries APEX 5). Then I plugged in my phone thru USB and it charged both thru the mobo and front case USB ports. On USB 2 is had like 300mA and on USB 3.1 and 3.2 it had 1030mA charging speed. But still no post. Then I learned that perhaps it won't turn on without a CPU.
      The next day my 5600g came, I plugged it in and still nothing. However my fans started to spin and light RGB. Then I learned that perhaps the BIOS needs to be updated. I sure hope so. Will do it on a friend's Ryzen 3600 PC in about 2 hours. Will post back later to this comment. First, I'll try the flashback button option and if it doesn't work, will swap the CPUs. Damn I'm so stressed these past 2 days. If it doesn't work I'm efd.

    This is good general information but if you are doing a tutorial please be more clear and specific - see some of the questions in the comments. For example, I wouldn't say you grab the latest/top of the list bios if it is a beta version - perhaps saying the last stable version would be more instructive. Also, please show which cords from the power supply need to be plugged in when you say, "power the motherboard". Finally it might be a good idea to share that you don't need the CPU or RAM installed to perform a bios flash on new builds. Lots of questions unanswered in the comments b/c the video, although well meaning, lacks the clarity this topic deserves.

      I'm sure the manual of the mobo should have this information anyway. RTFM people!

    • @ng6574
      @ng6574 3 года назад

      I don't think it's necessary to be mentioned since if you're going to download a beta version there's a disclaimer there. Experienced people would know to avoid this and amateurs will learn about this when reading the disclaimer (if they want to accept the risk it's up to them). Furthermore if you follow this guide step by step you don't need to know that CPU or RAM is not needed for a BIOS update since it's irrelevant when he's doing it by this method. On the other hand if you don't know how to plug a 24 pin cable from the PSU to the Mobo, or install a CPU then this video ISN'T for you.

  • @Blopez_

    make sure to follow these steps
    This is what is required for the BIOS flashback feature:
    Create an MSDOS (MBR) partition table - this is probably what you mean by returning to its original state. I believe Windows 10 defaults to a GPT partition table. I can confirm that this will not work with BIOS flashback.
    Create a single FAT32 partition
    Rename the BIOS file with BiosRenamer
    Plug ATX and CPU power cables into motherboard. Don't connect a CPU, GPU, or RAM.
    Plug flash drive into the designated USB port (see manual, back panel shows a white box around the correct port - it's next to the BIOS flashback button)
    Turn on the PSU and press the BIOS flashback button. If it works, it'll repeatedly flash red for a few minutes and you'll see activitiy on the USB drive. If it dosen't work, it'll flash red for a few seconds and then turn off (this is what happens with a GPT partition table).

    I have literally this exact issue. Using a similar mobo, Asus Rog Strix B550-E with the same RAM. I built my pc using ryzen 5800, put everything together and have the exact same issue. Blank screen with all the parts lighting up, fans running and a steady orange light claiming a DRAM issue. Did the RAM swap test and to no avail. Also with a Q code of 0d. This video made me feel at ease and I will be giving the bios flash update a go later today. I will let you know if it solves my similar issue. Also for anybody else reading this if you are not sure if your new mobo has the most recent bios version you can check by looking at the last 4 digits on the serial sticker on your mobo and then verifying it on the ASUS website under CPU/Memory with your mobo.

      Try flashing again with a previous BIOS version.
      That could have happen because the flashing process didn't completely finished.

    Hi thanks for the video, just to ask on part of the flashback steps on the motherboard, does the processor need to be installed or removed? Another question, does Asus Tuf b550m-plus wifi motherboard needs bios flashback update to pair with ryzen 5 5600g?

    Can you flash the bios with the cpu in the motherboard or do i need to take it out?

  • @kennywong5857
    @kennywong5857 2 года назад +1

    You didn't mention whether you need to remove the CPU first in order to do the flashback, or you simply leave the CPU on the motherboard to do the flashback. This is important as if it requires you to remove the CPU, then it's better to do the flashback before a full installation. Or else, you may mess it up as you need to apply thermal paste on it and install the CPU fan then you may have to remove and later re-install the CPU with paste on it.

    For a new builder like me, can you install the Bios on a USB using a Mac, and how much storage and what type of USB is it?

    • @orochikaiba
      @orochikaiba 3 года назад

      As long as that flash drive will be readable on a non Mac PC then you should be fine. For AMD, DO NOT use a USB 3.0 for the BIOS flashing. It may prove unstable and could brick your motherboard. Use a USB 2.0 and I suggest at least like a 16GB. They're super duper cheap.

      The fix for me was using the bios update on a USB stick and using the flashback button on the motherboard. Make sure the power supply is plugged in but don't turn on the PC.

    I got an MSI x570 mpg gaming plus MB
    with a bios flash button and I knew that I would have to get the new bios into it to run the new Ryzen 5000'
    but as I got all my parts I just started building up... In the end I remembered that I 4got to flash bios, So I searched the net 2 days, if I can use the flash bios button with all parts installed on the MB
    Wich I couldn't find anywhere.. all said something like ah why are you asking this you don't need to plug in ram or cpu to get the job done. And so on and on.. I don't get it why here are so much hatin' juice' who can't be proud to got the info that we don't have to remove the fugging tower cooler which were really hard to get the screw's in
    So here >I just got the exact information about what I wanted to know ;)

    Please make of 2021 version of Motherboard Vendors RGB software comparision. And this time please show the dynamic effects too. So that viewers could see that if the RGB reacts to music than how responsive or well is the reaction. And also, this time include the ram RGB from popular brand like a Corsair Vengeance RGB pro kit just to show how well is it compatible with all 4 vendor softwares.

    Have to point out that the USB port utilized by this system, not is
    located by any sane logic on some motherboard models. - Just Read the manual,
    as it may require a USB port located as far away possible, from the reflash
    activation button. An error is indicated by a tiny led , If this signal
    light stop pulsating after only 4-10s, going steady.

    I’m looking forward to build a Asus b550-E gaming with a Ryzen 7 5800x, do you guys think I should update the BIOS after I build it all together, or before? I have been thinking about this for a while, and I am generally confused.

    • @Mrndosir
      @Mrndosir 2 года назад +1

      Check your bios version before, and compare the version number to what is listed on the motherboard website, if the cpu was stable on a version number lower than yours, no update needed. Otherwise, you will want to update the bios before installing your new cpu.

    I have tried and it didnt work blinked 5 times and then the light stayed on . I turned the system off and tried again. Every video I have seen they have no Processor and ram. So please let me know if I need to take everything off the board... Been a week of frustration.
