they should make it like Pillars of Eternity, where u can choose between turn based or CRPG style.

The pause and play is turn based it's just simultaneous turns. Have typically preffered pause and play personally in regards to Larians past turn based, but xcom long war is maybe my favorite game all time and it is alternating turn based but it's big on imperfect information and fights that snowball into fighting the entire map at times, much different than the disgea modernized type turn based that was used in Divinity.

I'm preferential to pause and play myself only because I find that fights take so much longer in pure turn based!

@@rpgmd6471 yeah totally agree, xcom maps can take a couple hours at the extreme. In traditional rpgs I have definitely liked pause better, but long war is essentially a turn based party strategic rpg and frankly blows every game away in how it handles the campaign and the story of replayed campaigns while literally reusing the base games barebones plot.

To me, it does not matter if BG3 is Turn Based or RT With Pause, as long as the story is great, with meaningful choices, and branching paths. I already did a Rant video about this on my channel.

8:51 The "Speak With Dead" Spell is going to be very important in BG3, just as "Spirit Vision" was in DOS2. It is Larian's way to design N+1 path choices for the Story Arc.

11:20 I love Minsc and Boo, but the events of B3 takes place a century after the events of BG2's Throne of Bhaal. Since the events of BG2, I heard that Minsc and Boo were petrified and were mistaken for a statue and were placed in Baldur's Gate. A long time afterwards they get unpetrified. However, not many BG Players will know that. So, if Minsc and Boo are brought back to BG3, Larian Studios will need to properly explain and address that issue (of how they can still be alive).

I prefer pause and play. I haven't seen any gameplay in bg3 that really impresses me. I think the cinematics and aethetics are great but if it doesn't rekindle the bg vibe then it won't resonate with me. Still hopeful. I like your video.

I've been playing both combat systems for almost 20 years so to be perfectly honest I don't care at all,for me BG3 is not going to be less BG because is turn based,is going to be less BG because there's absolutely nothing that proves that this game is part of a franchise xD so far is DOS2 on steroids and a modified D&D 5e ruleset, the graphic leap is pretty amazing but that's about it. That's why Larian fans and D&D fans are so happy and original BG fans are so pissed, and lets be fair here, they have all the right to be mad about it.
Larian said they loved original BG games and they only had respect and love for those games and that is far from the truth from what I've seen. I like Larian and DOS/DOS2 but so far the only BG I've seen in this game is the letters in the BG3 logo.

I will agree that the name BG3 seems more of a piggyback than anything else as of right now, though we still know so little perhaps more will be clear later in development. I mean it can't get any worse as a name grab than Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance eh?

@@rpgmd6471 Sure,a lot can change until they've done with development,we'll see in a year and a half the final product and If they manage to please everyone or not xD

Maybe the love comes from the writing and how they design quests. And to be fair, Divinity OS allowed for some unconventional quest solutions.

I have faith that Larian studios will be well prepared to continue the saga in the matter of storyline and script.
But as I have grown on the original BG series, I am truly astounded that they have changed the real time combat system with turn based combat mode. I have no objection with it being the option, I simply fail to see why it should become a canon part of the BG game strategy simply because"it's 2020". This reason is not reason enough for me.
If they could allow the gamers to chose their own style, whichever they'd prefer, now that would earn my utmost respect for the developing team.
