Pinion pine has more BTU's per cord than nearly all firewoods (except Osage) Pinion pitch is antibacterial. It can temporarily fill a tooth cavity or be used as emergency first aid for cuts and blisters etc. It's also high in vitamin C. Also makes a great soldering flux that smells great.
Not even close in BTU's. I have 60 acers in Pine and none has ever gone in my furnace other that for kindling. No one burns pine if they have real firewood available.
Pinyon pine is a slow growing hardwood that has much higher BTU's than other Pine trees. For example Ponderosa pine is a soft wood and is great for kindling but not much else. Soft wood burns too fast , the higher the wood density usually the more efficient the BTUs.
@@kevinjohnston1957 I can tell you've never burned piñon pine before. When it comes to burning, it's completely different than other pine species. Although it's not technically a hardwood, it is indeed a hard, dense, long-burning wood that puts out a lot of BTUs. It also smells great when it burns. Living in northern and central New Mexico, one of my favorite Christmas aromas is all the piñon pine smoke from people's fireplaces.

Matt and team. I am happy to inform you that the 9mm wrench does have a use. It is used to adjust the hydraulic valves on a brand of tella-handler/lull that goes by the name of Magni. Trust me, I was shocked upon discovering this as I have been doing mechanic work for 10 years now.
I think the bolts on the transmission pan of a Ford Torqushift transmission are 9mm. I have to crawl under there to change the fuel filter later today, so I will double check it.
I would swear that someone found a use for the 9mm around one of the MORR vehicles a few months ago? Was in one of the build episodes. Definitely an odd size. I have used 7mm more than 9mm for example.

Nothing like having Matt ride in the "back" of the wrecker to influence the need of seats back there, HA. I also must put in a note for what a wonderful crew has. Yes, they provide Great entertainment but I could enjoy sitting down and sharing a beverage with any of them.
For Matt. Those pine trees have great fire starters that can be doused and reused. Dig out the little broken off branch stubs and clean off the dead wood and you finish up with a little oily chunky stick. Store in a container and can be lit by a flint striker. Start your fire and then retrieve your fire lighter and extinguish. Those particular pine trees are very high in turpentine.
I completely enjoyed this vlog! Thanks MORR team! It took me back to my childhood. I grew up around Santa Fe, NM and we "ran the hills" as boys! Here's an idea for Team MORR! Since everyone there is so imaginative and creative and "handy with a welder", why not design some pedestal type seats that when erected, provide for a scenic view over the top of The OffRoad wrecker?? Design them to be set up (right behind the cab) and folded/stowed in place when not needed. This would eliminate having to ride on the rear of the boom holding on for dear life! Right Matt?? LOL!
Matt those are piñon nuts not Pine nuts. pine nuts are about an inch long while Pinion nuts are smaller with a harder shell. I know they are both Pine trees, but the nuts are truly different in appearance and flavor. I prefer the flavor of piñon over Pine nuts.
Nah, piñon nuts. Pinion nuts hold a differential together. (Pinion is from French to hold together, specifically arms or bird wings pulled backward, piñon is from Spanish referring to the small pine tree of the southwest.)
Yeah! You need to install Jump seats on the back of the wrecker. It happens very often that you got folks on the back. I'm reminded of the jump seats my dad's old king cab truck with the seats you could fold down . That way, when you dont need em, they are out of the way. Oh and sont tubes for handles to hold on to.
Pinion nuts are great... but... if you eat them raw, yes, you will get gas, as well as a tummy ache.... roasted is GOOD!!! I'm Navajo, and we cook them in a skillet put some water in there and salt... Great videos Matt...
Even with ten years at the national cross country orienteerings team I have never been confident with this sort of maps, they are difficult to read, but with your tons of experience what to find or not to find at this sorts of maps you have always found the right spot, very impressing😊
It's the shutter speed of that camera and the hertz(hz) of the LED lights. Led lights aren't constantly on, they flash or pulse very very fast to produce light unlike incandescent lights which make illumination differently
@@beansinacan500 Thanks for the info! I'd wondered about something along those lines - obviously, we've all seen lights that seem to flicker on camera (but not IRL). But I'd never seen a variant like what was in this video.
@@mediocreman2 whatever you say pal. No other type of bulb acts that way on camera. And seeing it be a early 4th gen ram, the factory bulbs would have been halogen or incandescent, which don't turn off and on rapidly to produce light in an automotive application like an aftermarket LED light would. It's called the strobe effect and occurs when the shutter speed of a camera does not match the frequency of which the light is flickering, therefore producing a flashing, scanning or flickering effect on video. 👍

Matt I would like to see you try this rescue experiment . Let's say you are in the mountains where there is no cell coverage but you have wireless headphones. Could you strap your cell to the drone fly it high enough to get cell reception and then connect with your wireless headphones and using voice commands make a rescue call to Matt's off road or 911? Instead of hoofing it to the top of a mountain?
Probably would just be easier to send a text to a friend with your location and ask them to call Matt. You could make it as long and detailed as you need, push send, and then fly the phone up high.
Can confirm on the pinion Christmas tree! When we used to get live trees we focused on pinions. Often as wide as tall but made great trees. House smelt good for a month!
Like how Matt let's everyone drive the rigs and learn. I worked with a landscaper one summer in college and he wouldn't let anyone drive the lawnmowers up over the curbs from the street to get on the lawn. He would have to do it for you then you could proceed cutting the grass. I didn't stay long on that job. 😆
The pine nuts sold in stores are usually Italian Stone Pine. What Matt and crew are eating look to be Pinyon Pine, a small pine native to the US southwest and generally not commercially available, although sometimes locals may collect and sell them. They were an important resource for native people from California east across the US southwest.
I like seeing Kolby running the drone controller with one hand and doing phone video with the other. I am always surprised at the number of different views the crew can capture.

4:19 People should really start to use the map “What 3 words”. It will give you a unique three word combination for every point around the world and you can type in that combination and get an exact point to navigate to!

Gotta love Jake! Up for anything!😂
I love it when you guys go through Beryl Junction. Then you do even better and go up to Hamblin Valley and Stateline! I miss that area.
Katelyn always has a big smile on these videos must love working for Matt
"Did you ever eat a pine tree?" Euell Gibbons is dancing in heaven. You gotta be pretty old to get the reference.
My thoughts exactly!
Many parts are edible.
Jim Carrey did a skit about him . But I'm old too
There has been founds of treesap used as gum in stoneage diggings, so it is a very old idea!
Never eaten one but have drank one. I will never understand how people can drink gin. It's horrible.
Winter is coming, time to put a 3000w inverter and microwave in the bombi, pizza pockets make great hand warmers, tasty too.
We use a device called a "hot dogger" we strap them to the exhaust on our snowmachiens (snowmobile) in alaska. You can heat up hotdogs or pizza pockets.
Always a learning curve! The young guns should be greatfull to have such a great teacher! Matt, you rock! Catch you on the next. ✌️ 😊
“Tastes like a Hallmark store” is the best line ever uttered on this channel.
I knew just what he meant, thanks to my wife.
Yeah that one had me laughing tears!! One of the best videos in a long time and to finish up with Jake made it even better, Jake Rocks!!:)
Great flying! She is a huge ship, I remember her arrival into Newport a few years ago with zero visibility, but you could sense there was something huge out there in the fog!
I went back on her next visit and recorded her leaving Newport after the Audrain's Newport Concours Parade throughout Newport.
The wrecker needs Subaru Brat style seats in the back.
10 minutes later - Matt - "we should put some seats back here."
10:22 It's the Internet Katelyn, I get questioned about everything!
Ain't that the truth!!!
@Jon-c5k thanks
Looks like the MORR crew has purchased a new drone! Nice angles!
Loved this Episode. The whole second part was just nice and laid back and you could tell it wasn´t staged or exaggerated for content. Please give us more videos like this.
The pin game got Kolby's competitive side going 😂
Yeah man! We value all natural chewing gum so much we started selling it! It's amazing how many people really love the sugar-free, 100% natural, and wild experience it brings!
Love her expression when she first pops it into her mouth, lol.
Kaulin left his muscles in his other shirt. 🤣
Peace and love to Matt, your family and especially, all your employees ... always a great show, great fun!
If you like pine gum, you should try bee propolis. The bees have processed the pine gum and removed all the dirt and foreign material. It's also antimicrobial, so may be good for you tapeworm.
When Jake tries the pine gum, his face looks like Jeff Dunham's Walter puppet!
I had to go back and watch… you’re so right!! 😂😂
Ha ha ha ha! Spot on!
Katelyn is beyond is super cool, "I see what you are talking about the dirt now" 😂
You had me a "Pinesol Shots"...lol
Thank you for the factual nut & i agree
Katelynn is so funny love this crew and they have my favorite the wrecker
Yeah! You need to install Jump seats on the back of the wrecker.
It happens very often that you got folks on the back.
I'm reminded of the jump seats my dad's old king cab truck with the seats you could fold down .
That way, when you dont need em, they are out of the way.
Oh and sont tubes for handles to hold on to.
stadium seating :)
Pinion nuts are great... but... if you eat them raw, yes, you will get gas, as well as a tummy ache.... roasted is GOOD!!! I'm Navajo, and we cook them in a skillet put some water in there and salt... Great videos Matt...
You should mount some seats and belts in the back of the wrecker
Even with ten years at the national cross country orienteerings team I have never been confident with this sort of maps, they are difficult to read, but with your tons of experience what to find or not to find at this sorts of maps you have always found the right spot, very impressing😊
Maybe time for a couple buddy seats back there. As I typed this, I hear someone mention seats in the back.
I'm sore from grinning through the second half of the video. What a great bunch of people!
This could be the funniest MORR video to date…
Katelynn your driving skills and awesome.
Lots of Weird Al today. I love it. Lol
4:33 Imagine driving in the middle of nowhere and seeing the wrecker suddenly appear!
Such a beast 💪
What's up with the flashing headlights at 9:50? Was that real, or an artifact of the camera?
It's the shutter speed of that camera and the hertz(hz) of the LED lights. Led lights aren't constantly on, they flash or pulse very very fast to produce light unlike incandescent lights which make illumination differently
@@beansinacan500 Thanks for the info! I'd wondered about something along those lines - obviously, we've all seen lights that seem to flicker on camera (but not IRL). But I'd never seen a variant like what was in this video.
@@beansinacan500Those are obviously not LED lights, number one, and number two, if they were, it wouldn't blink out just once in a while.
@@russelllewis9215This wasn't a camera issue and those aren't LED lights. Most likely the daytime running light circuit on that truck has an open.
Great video - thanks for the lessons
Whistling Diesel sucks
Agreed, but I still want to see the Kill Dozer.
why, because he found a way that's not up to your standards to make himself a millionaire? smh
No cause he's a dipshit! @@tylermallory2504
To the tune of millions ! Hes actually very intelligent & a real American patriot ! You have the right to your opion or jeolousy . America & trump .
@@davestevens4263 it ain't jealousy that's for damn sure. He doesn't have any respect for his fans that can't afford or won't purchase his over priced merchandise. If you haven't seen his interview maybe check it out.
Ford drivers never let their friends drive Dodges! He must have not had any Ford driving friends? We missed Jake's quick wit, but Kate helps fill in the spot and Kaulin always has some words of wisdom to go along with your wisdom Matt! Another fun and educational video!
I love the uvula dangling where the rear view mirror should be..... as a retired dentist it takes me back!!
you need to add jump seats to the out side of the wrecker
Subaru B.R.A.T. type maybe for possible jump seats with harness
"Pine gum: taste the mountain." That jingle would sell a few chunks. "It started tasting like a Hallmark store" is the funniest thing I've heard in awhile. I think the real life bits are better than the rescues, though those can be interesting. You're so good at it that few of them are any real challenge.
THE GREAT PINE TREE OF THE ROCKIES..I PUT THEM IN A CAST IRON FRY PAN.OVER FIRE,WHEN ALL SHELLS CRACK I TAKE UM OFF..HOW I MISS UTAH..GREAT VIDEO,THANK YOU
I agree with the seats in the back of the wrecker! K&M Makes portable foldable seats available through Northern Tool and Equipment.
Man it’s good to see the wrecker out again, such a beast. Well done team!!
I wish I had worked for a man like Matt, he is never afraid to have some fun.
You guys make these tough recoveries look so easy. Kudos to the whole team! 💪
All of Matt's innuendos about pine gum are hilarious. I'm with Kate in the looks she gives him. Not sure what to believe. But all in good fun.
I like seeing Kolby running the drone controller with one hand and doing phone video with the other. I am always surprised at the number of different views the crew can capture.
9:55 I love the sound of a real diesel without any restrictions 😊
mat everybody has his moments but i think you are a fun guy to be around greetings from south africa
Balsam fir tree sap are amazing, it’s an antiseptic, pain reliever, and wound sealer. The sap has been used to make glue, wood stain, and canoe pitch and it smells amazing.
There's a thought now. Have a champion rock Crawler drive the World's Largest Wrecker! I like that train of thought.
The Wrecker going where no wrecker has gone before!
Go Katelynn!
I just had the thought, you need some jump seats of some sort on the back for the Guys, but with a good 5 or 6 point on em, so the fellas or who ever can ride on the sides of the back. It could even be a fun little ride with a race type jump seat an a 6 point on a side.
Thank you for your wholesome vids! MUCH appreciated! God bless y'all and your loved ones!!
A pair of jump seats on the back of the wrecker is not a bad idea, find an old Chevy Brat or one of those old Subarus that had them or make your own.
A couple E-bikes could be handy for extra team members to ride in/out on. Handy to scout ahead if trail dictates too.
Jakes reaction was amazing as usual.
