Completely agree and I was going to post something very similar, spare fuel, keys & for crying out loud chains if you go out in the snow & ice. Rubber vs ice is no contest-the ice will win.First base in Europe to fit chains. Sorry for criticism but your procedures need tightening up.. ..because you have committed all 3 offences a number of times. You never forget to fill up with food though!
Great videoes & team though, I always tune in.

Since Matt has forgotten the keys on a number of rescues I think its only fitting punishment that on the next 3 rescues Tom must ask Matt "Do we have the Keys" every 10 minutes. This will reinforce the memory of checking for the keys in both parties. I love your videos, And yes I believe in tough love.

Tip for getting cell phone service. Lean your phone against the windshield of the vehicle… the anti shatter properties help pick up signal. It’s even better if you take the phone out any protective case. I live in the backcountry with limited cell service, it always brings a spotty bar service to one and 1 bar to 2

Put a phone on a long stick and get it as high as possible.
Open your phone as a hotspot and make the call from a phone linked to the hotspot, or from the radio info system if it has a bluetooth link.
You can make a dish shaped reflector out of aluminum foil for extra range.
Text messages work better than voice. Your phone will try several times to get the text message through.

This is a prime example for the importance of closed loop communications in team operations. Never assume what someone heard you when giving instructions. Always require a response. If no response repeat the instructions. That IS the team leader’s responsibility. In other words, not Tom’s fault. Teams succeed and fail together.

I think the punishment is more for content than anything else, because this is technically a media company now, as much as it is an off-road recovery company, which I think is reflected in the punishment they picked because I've seen quite a few options on here that wouldn't make for a super exciting content, but forcing Tom to build a bird house and pretty much the exact opposite way he would go about such a task is pretty good content and honestly not that much of a punishment

Great recovery, as always! You're right about the use of caravan: in France they use it (caravane) for both a camper trailer or a string of vehicules doing a long journey together. Here in Quebec, the mostly french-speaking part of Canada, we use the word "roulotte" for a camper-trailer but we use the word "remorque" for a trailer not used for camping/living. Now you can "word-drop" french words in your videos! Cheers!

Tomtom’s punishment should be to formulate a pre-recovery checklist. You should have a routine that occurs before EVERY call to avoid mistakes like this. Using a challenge response method to complete the checklist will involve two parties and greatly reduce the opportunity for mistakes to occur. This is what we do in aviation for each step of the flight. You guys have already employed this tactic with your 6 steps when entering a customers vehicle. Just take it one step further and implement a checklist for each phase of your recoveries. You guys are an incredible team and I think this would be a great step to increase your efficiency.

While I do believe chains could help in this situation, a vehicle with tires+chains is not even comparable to something track driven like theBbombi.
