Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker. - Хобби
I just love how you both have settled and have become more relaxed and personable with us. For those of us that are too old, too poor, too medically challenged or too busy to travel to you for adventures we (I) "Thank you" for sharing your adventures to us. All your varied interests enrich my life and encourage my creativity. Much love and good fortune.
Lovely. The opportunity to visit places in France through another’s eyes is wonderful
We agree! Thanks for joining us.
Congratulations 🍾 🎉 on 20 yrs!!! That’s something to CELEBRATE 🎉 ❤ ENJOY!!!
It has been clearly marked in our timelines.
@@ManorandMakerthey were congratulating you. 🎉
I have a pied de terre in the south of France that I go to every winter. Usually from January to May. My mother was from Grasse, beautiful region France is a beautiful country
It really is and so much diversity.
I love that almost all very old chateau are built on high ground and have the most magnificent views.
Thank you for an enjoyable vlog. I personally enjoy this more than the decorating etc and as I can no longer travel to France anymore after nearly 50 years of travelling to the South of France and Burgundy makes me appreciate your short trips and although you give us the history etc you don’t overwhelm the viewer.
Hope you had a safe trip home and arrive before the big storm anticipated. 🍷🍷🇬🇧🇬🇧
We love you too!!! Thanks so much for taking us along. 😘
Thank you for sharing these lovely adventures with us. 20 years have made you the couple you are, and by extension people that I enjoy watching the content they create! Looking forward to more ❤
That is very kind. We’ve found the right partners to adventure through life.
Carcasonne, beautiful. The history is crazy. Glad you were able to get away and refresh.
I love Carcasson used to live near there thanks for the lovely show
Our pleasure! It was a wonderful visit and interesting history.
So, did I - Cannes Minervois. Now I live in Mexico
Hi Sara and Steve, congratulations on being together for 20 yrs. Did you ever think all those years ago that you would have moved across the world and living your dream?
Beautiful vlog, thanks for bringing us along to see all these beautiful buildings . 😘🇨🇮
Loved seeing close ups of Carcassonne- the Tour de France goes by it just about every other year, but all we see are aerials of the walls. And the alter in the cathedral in Beziers was memorably amazing! How lucky to stumble upon the organist. I could have done with 20-30 full minutes of just that. ❤
Bonjour Sara and Steve, you do have a wonderful Manor and Maker community, I am so happy to be part of it with you. I am so happy as well you were able to take a few days to recharge, and thanks for bringing us along. Carcasonne is absolutely beautiful, and I love the history. Love from N.Y.
Happy Anniversary! Thx for taking us along on your trip.
Thank you for taking us on this trip! ❤
Such a pleasant surprise to wander again thru this ancient city of Carcassonne. We so enjoyed our time10 yrs ago .in our 70s . ❤❤
That church was magnificent and the castles and buildings are amazing. Thank you for taking us on your journey….lots of great memories ❤❤❤
You're photography and choice of music is absolutely amazing.
So many fond memories from these sites in France - Have had 2 vacations (from Canada) in the region. My late brother-in-law owned an apartment in Cap Agde, where we stayed. Your footsteps "warmed the cockles of my heart! - and brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing.
Oh and there’s a fantastic fabric shop in the castle… I brought wonderful fabric for quilting an Autumn scene. Quite cliched but always evokes fabulous memories of great holidays.
Wonderful! Hope the memories last forever.
Thank you for taking us with your travels. I have cancer and I haven’t been able to travel, but I feel like I’m there with yours again thank you for all that you present to your fans and follower. I also love the work shops that yous show us also.
Thank you❤❤❤

Thank you for the loveliness you shared with us today.
Reference for other Canadian viewers. I've been to Carcassonne and it reminded me of the Friendly Giants castle. Look up. Look waaaay up. :)
I see it now you said that.

Happy 20th Anniversary of being together! 💜
I expect you stayed at Stephanie's in Cap d'Agde hence we didn't see your accommodation, sorry we're a nosy lot!
But isn''t it lovely to have friends that do (almost) the same sort of thing ?😃
Was so interesting to see Carcassonne, thank you. We went during our honeymoon to visit my Uncle who lived there at the time. However we didn't go sight seeing as we were on our way down south. Anyway we hadn't developed any interest in architecture etc at that time.
We do love having such amazing friends. We have really found our community.
Thanks for sharing so many beautiful places with us and congratulations on 20 years.
Our pleasure! Thanks for coming along.
Thank you for the history tour beautifuls. You both look so content & happier since you've been officially married. Your both glowing.🥰
Much love & light.
🙏❤
Great video. Love the south of France, love Carcassonne, love you guys! xx
Thank you for taking us along on your break, hopefully you feel refreshed now. I really appreciate seeing these places as I have never been to Europe and I may never get there either as I live in Australia and I have health issues and the cost is way too much from here. So, it's really good seeing the places you visit.
Wow ! Happy 20 years Anniversary 🎉 .
You both work so hard you deserve a break ( mini moon) .
However thank you for letting us go on your mini trip I find it fascinating the history x
Congratulations on 20 years 🥳🎉🎊😍😘 What a wonderful get away. Thanks for taking us along. 😍😘
You are so welcome. It was a great getaway.
Thank you for sharing your get-a-way. It was all so beautiful !
Thanks for sharing your get-away. What a beautiful place to visit. From Boulder,CO.
OMG! I was an exchange student from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - back in the 1980's - with a local family here! The father was an art teacher at the local high school! I was wondering why the French blogs I watch NEVER, EVER mention this part of France!! Finally! ENJOY you guys soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!
Happy 20th anniversary! My husband and I have recently celebrated ours too😊 What a beautiful trip!
Congrats on your 20th. It’s quite a milestone 🎉
As part of my quest to find out where I belong in France, I spent a month in the Carcassonne area last summer. Every time I passed the city with its lovely castle, I would catch my breath. I loved the surrounding area but am still not sure where I will eventually land. I actually felt a little twinge of happiness that you enjoyed your experience there... as if it's already my hood! We'll see.
Congratulations on 20 years together! Nice tour!
Thank you so much 😀
I love what you guys do, and love seeing other corners of France through your eyes. Keep going lovelies! 💕 And felicitations aussi! 🥂
Thank you so much!! We love to travel around our adopted country. So much to see
Got back a week ago from Menton. Some rain but mostly warm sunny days. Wanted to go to Carcasonne but was voted done.
I've visited Carcasonne, so really enjoyed your Vlog. Thank you for sharing your 20 year anniversary trip, and recent wedding. So nice, I come to regard you as 'friends'...as I regard other Chateaux Vloggers, and many were at your wedding ❤x
Very nice! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I just love the gargoyles on churches….great sense of humour. 😅. Thank you for taking us with you, love your style❤️❤️❤️❤️
😍Wow! Amazing! Makes me want to hop on a train & go visit!💖 (Viollet-le-Duc also worked on Notre Dame in Paris🥰)
🤩The vaults & stained glass windows in the Beziers church are stunning!
I would love to hear more about your trip to Machu Picchu! (I have relatives in Lima & visiting Machu Picchu (in the 70’s) was life changing for me!💕
So interesting seeing such beautiful places though 😊
though should be thankyou it was really lovely x
Keep pn going! I ❤your channel and your point of views. Thank you for all the efforts to entertain and relax my late nights 💚
Fun episode!🩷👏🏻
Congrats, it was our 20 year wedding anniversary last week. We recently went to Vancouver ❤
Congratulations to you as well. Hope it’s been a wonderful 20 years and lots more to come. 🍾
Agde is lovely, so is Pezenas nearby and I love market day in Sete. Looks like you had a nice little getaway !
Happy Anniversary! So glad you had a mini getaway! It’s very important to recharge, and as a creative person that means seeing something new.
I love Carcassonne too! I went there over 30 years ago now, and my friend and I really wished we had a couple swords to buckle some washes on the battlements. If technology had been then what it is now, there would have been film of some impromptu reenacting I’m sure. But reenact which period? Roman (the D shaped towers), medieval, Victorian, various movies filmed there? So many options! 😁
I see they’ve reversed a few tower roofs that were courtesy of Violet le Duc. He used all slate (traditional in northern France) rather than clay tiles (southern France). I know that when I was there, they were still discussing what to change based on what they know now, because his restorations are now part of the history of the place. But, as you said, he did the best he could, and definitely stopped it from falling apart, so we can enjoy it now. ♥️
Love this place when I traveled with students we stayed at the youth hostel that is inside the walls
It must feel so surreal walking on grounds and in places that a multitude of people from the past have done the same. I feel I would be overwhelmed, in a good way.
20 years is such a milestone and I couldn't imagine either of you with anyone else, because you are so well suited for one another. I sense your love and most importantly deep friendship for one another. I say that because I feel true friendship is at the root of every true love story. Congratulations on 20 years together.
We agree wholeheartedly. Thanks
Thanks for the trip…would love to go one day. ❤
Another enjoyable video thank you.
❤ you two and all you two do
Congrats on your anniversary and honeymoon in the same trip! So glad you had a fun break! Stephanie's family has an apartment in Cap d'Agde.
Thanks.
Thank you!! ❤
Wow! You guys are incredible! Because of my oily hair I need to wash it every day. It looks great for the public. Perhaps someone could copy this habit. It would look wonderful!!! You are so handsome!! 💙🏆✨✨
such wonderful places
A must see in France
Happy Anniversary from PEI❣️
20 years of being a wonderful couple!
Looks like a wonderful get away. We all need down time.
Lovely to gift yourself some downtime. You'll have to compare notes with Stephanie about your visit to Chateau Laurens. Quite a restoration feat...
Have been to Carcassonne. If you have the chance drive up to Rousillon-fascinating artsy village. 🖼️ .
Sounds interesting, maybe next time.
Lovely vlog again,
I have been in Carcassonne. Although, it was 30 plus years ago now. It is beautiful. It has had a lot of restauration since I was there. roof on a tower? What? Lol
I think on my travels I got close and missed Carcassone, Albi where Toulouse Lautrec is from was my stop! Thanks for this glorious walled village. Were we on your Honeymoon with you. You are extremly delightful people to travel with.
20 years 👍🏻
Carcassonne 💙🤍❤️
Happy 20th. May your next be the best. God bless you and yours. Love, jenwhite ❤😊😊❤
Is it the same Cap D'Agde of Stephanie's family? 😍
20 years? I've been together with my husband for 49 years and married for 47!
I enjoy your content
The two of you are such a lovely couple...
Thank you so much.
Doesn’t Stéphanie have an apartment in Cap d’Agde? Happy anniversary!
Thank you.
Isabelle possibly owns it. It is one room and a bunk bed in a closet. A small bathroom.
I was told that the castle in Carcasson gave Walt Disney the inspiration for his castle
We hadn’t heard that but would make sense.
If you are referring to "Cinderella Castle", the inspiration comes from many castles and châteaux in Europe (Chenonceau, Chambord, Chaumont-sur-Loire, Neuschwanstein etc), but not Carcassonne 🙂
Ok Steve, do some digging and find the story about the window!! Perhaps there's a church historian who would know.
I’ll have to spend some time on it.
I need a castle.
😮
I have visited many times, the place is magical. My friend lives near Liseux?… I love the Canal de Midi and Narbonne. There’s so much history in the Cathar country. It’s so connected to us in Scotland. That flat is getting plenty use.
Thanks for sharing, we will hopefully be back to explore further.
Now that you are officially married do you feel or do things different?
Just means to dates in the calendar to celebrate.
